I was wondering what kind of intrest there'd be for having an online app for dynamis databases. I built one for my linkshell, but had many little details and sloppyness to it that made it tied down to my specific system. But the introduction of the new zones, combined with me never seeing that SE would add new zones, is making me redesign alot of the system.
I was thinking of also making it more portable, and easier to admin. (current database requires manual editing of php files, inserting stuff to sql databases etc..) So that anyone could run such a system with no real knowledge of php or mysql.
And am wondering if I should go the extra leg and make it fully portable so other linkshells can use it.
Features and stuff would be:
-Full member list, with all member's jobs, levels and etc..
-Able to record a member's peffered lotting job, and a secondary, and a tertiary.
-Would record individual run's date, attendance, af drops, coin drops, glass payment meathod, and etc..
-Would have a seprate page for each member details what runs they've gone to, what af they've won, what zones they've completed, and etc..
-Have a spreadsheet of who has completed what zones, and how many people
- have auto-generated lists to who can lot what* (hard to do since every ls has a different system, I have a few ideas on how to make options for it)
-able to fully seperate days, or combine days (if your shell goes 2x a week)
-able to record members on runs, without giving them credit for runs (like if someone dc'd 10mins into run, or enters zone for the last 10mins)
So basically record anything I can think of.
Here's the current version I use with my linkshell:
http://yokonomi.no-ip.org/dev/dynamisdatabase/
Linkshell roster:
http://yokonomi.no-ip.org/dev/dynamisdatabase/index.php?mode=memberlist
Run History:
http://yokonomi.no-ip.org/dev/dynamisdatabase/index.php?mode=runs
Zone completion spreadsheet:
http://yokonomi.no-ip.org/dev/dynamisdatabase/index.php?mode=access
example of lotlist: (may not be do-able for other linkshell's lotting system)
http://yokonomi.no-ip.org/dev/dynamisdatabase/index.php?mode=lotlist&day=WED
This new version would basically be all that and more (backend wise, what people see will be basically the same). I'm going to write it anyways because I like to, I have nothing better to do, and for my own linkshell. But making it work for other linkshells wouldn't be too great of a challenge, and helping out others (not only this server =O ) may be a cool idea.
I'm planning to make it a downloadable package, so you can host it youself (coded in php4 and uses mysql database, so you'd need php/mysql to run it). And maybe possibly have me be able to host other's, but that has some pitfalls. (aka: my server isn't a production server, it can go down, power outage, crash, hardrive break, etc.. no garantees or backups)
So basically I just want input on weather or not I should make it portable =P
