Just wondering about macros or tips people have for a Summoner starting up Dynamis? Guessing making a few with /assist [tank of the day] is a good idea, buffs nukes and whatnot, but are there any specifics I need to know?

Any special filters advised?

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.

Filter everything under the sun(except the chat methods like linkshell and party), turning off all effects would be a good call too. I'm not sure about any special macros needed for a smn in dynamis, but I'd imagine just /assist and a macro for your bloodpacts.

If you are ever called on to raise in the event of a wipe, please please please announce who you're raising. It saves a tremendous amount of time and mp when a bunch of people aren't trying to raise the same person.

I'm guessing that you'e going as a SMN/WHM so you'd want to keep "Special Actions/Effects on Party" visible for status cures.. But yeah, generally filter anything outside your party and anything not relevant to your job. Putting Linkshell messages on hold is a good idea too, as most groups try to keep the LS channel free for relaying orders.

First thing, no party chat when you summon/release avatars when you are doing a DD Blood Pact. If you are calling Titan out for Earthen Ward it's a good idea to let your party know to gather up, otherwise it's useless spam in an already spam filled environment.

Second thing, don't leave your avatar out to melee, or out for any reason really. If you want to DD, summon > BP > release, and you're better off not even doing DD except on Nin, Mnk, and boss mobs. Avatars have this wonderful habit of kicking in auto-defend against sleeping mobs and getting mages killed. There's a few exceptions, but during any pull where there's sleeping mobs, don't perpetuate.

Basically smn in dynamis works best as the "gimped whm" role, with backup healing and buffs mainly. After you get a feel for how dynamis works you can play around with DD, but I would suggest staying away from it for your first dozen runs or so.

And for the love of god, do NOT use astral flow and [insert AoE move here] when there are slept mobs around. Unless you have a major death wish, dont use any of that AoE shit unless your BLM are already spamming -ga spells.

And try to follow with elemental affinity. If your BLM are casting Firaga, use Inferno. Blizzaga to diamond dust. Stonega (lol?) with Earthen Fury. Mixing affinities usually has bad ends in my case.

I tend to use the same macro's I allways do with SMN, with the only difference being that I have some that are designed to go with the main assist.

/assist <maintankhere>
/wait 1
/pet "Assault" <stnpc>

I use a different macro bar, and since I use the controller I select the the assist macro, then move back down to my summoner set.

For the rest of dynamis I wrote this small guide on my LS's forums (Since im one of the older SMN's there:

As a summoner, you may be required to do several different things during dynamis.

Some of these roles including:

- Nuking (With magical BP's)
- Meele (Avatar meele BP's)
- Healing (With spells + BP's)
- Support (With spells + BP's)

Nuking

Generally, the only time you'll need to nuke, is if something happens to the BLM's, or if its required on some NM's (Were theres nothing for you to do but nuke.

If the BLM's are doing timed nukes, since the casting time on Avatar BP's is awkward/different, it is NOT advisable to join in on nuking these.

Nuking is with avatars is what you'll do on mobs such as THF, PLD and possibly MNK (When they are being kited)

Meele

You'll find yourself using meele BP's on most of the normal monsters because they tend to do the best meele damage. Without merits your best bet is to use Leviathan as it is a single hit, high damage BP.

On statues, DO NOT meele these, they have very high pysical defence, and have really annoying TP attacks.

It's genrally advised to release to release your avatar if its not doing anything, this prevents it from attacking anything you have hate from (You'll rarely ever get hate, but just incase)

Healing

You'll probably find yourself inplace of a healer alot of times, depending on how many WHM's show up. Fortunatly, healing in dynamis isnt that bad, unless your a tank party. Curaga II should suffice once 3 or more members require a Cure 3. Beware of pulling hate on monks (Ushually during 100 fists, you'll drop almost instantly).

Protectra II and Shellra I or II (depening on your level) should be used, and make sure your ready with those status -na

Light Spirit

If you have reasonably good (preferably capped) summoning magic, Light spirit can become an invaluable tool in Dynamis. Once you have several members starting to dip below 50% HP for some reason, pull out your light spirit and make sure it is facing towards the mob everyone is fighting, the light spirit will most likely use Cure V or Curaga IV on your party/alliance members.

The higher your summoning skill, the shorter the delay for the spirit to heal. If you have a White Mage in your party, you probably won't need to use Light Spirit because the White Mage will be able to bring them out of the orange/red faster than the spirit can.

Support
Before level 70 Summoner, you will be stuck in this role, as well as healing (unless you have diabolos, then Nether Blast would be nice every now and then). Post 70 depending on the situation you may be required to use Earthen Ward/Areial Armour and several other AoE buffs.

Quick Note

Raising
During dynamis (Mainly in Cities) people dont like eating R1's, BUT if it is a critical situation (e.g. Trying to get people up as fast as possable to do the final boss of the zone before time runs out), all types of raises will be used. During Dynamis - Xarcabard, give out as many R1's as possable, as we need to get people up as fast as possable. (It also acts as an incentive for people to get, and use Reraise II equipment, increasing the speed of the run)

I know this isnt a complete guide to dynamis as SMN, but it should give you a little headstart if you have no idea what to do in Dynamis as SMN.

Any additions/critisism to this is welcome ^^

Awesome, thankyou.

Just don't DoT ANY mobs or use AoE spells and you'll be fine. ^^
