Multiplat but found on PS3 Fanboy and 1up first.
Char's Counterattack mobile suits AND possibly stuff from Gundam SEED, I'm sold, I just hope they include more from the older series and maybe some Gundam 00. I sure as hell would LOVE to see the GX - 9900 - DV Gundam X Divider from (機動新世紀ガンダムX Kidō Shinseiki Gandamu Ekkusu) Mobile New Century Gundam X and Exia from 00.
Speculations on which plot they will use for the main story? They already used the plots from MSG, Zeta and Double Zeta Gundam for the official mode last time, what will they use this time?
Seeing as how Char's Counterattack has something to do with it it'll probably be the movies from the Universal Century for the official mode. Then again though, maybe they will use the storyline from SEED and SEED Destiny.
While I hope they announce this for US and EU, I'll sure as hell will be playing this when I import the PS2 and PS3 versions (I am gonna compare them lol).
PS3Fanboy said:The Japanese adore all that is Gundam and Dynasty Warriors. So it wasn't long before someone decided to mash these two ideas together, which resulted in last year's Dynasty Warriors: Gundam (a.k.a. Gundam Musou in Japan).
It looks like Koei is bringing us another installment of the series named, you guessed it, Gundam Musou 2. Though more or less the same hack-and-slash affair, the sequel will predictably contain more robots, new attacks, new special moves and more weapons. A new story mode brings a playable version of the first original Gundam theatrical release Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack. Lastly, mobile armors that are ten times the size of your mech will serve as some of the game's bosses. Mobile armors confirmed to be in the game include the MA-08 Big Zam from Mobile Suit Gundam and the NZ-333 Alpha Azieru from Char's Counterattack. For more details on this game, check out 1UP.
Release date is pegged for this winter in Japan for the price 7,800 yen. No release dates for other regions have been announced for the time being.
1up said:Last year's Dynasty Warriors: Gundam was nothing short of manna from heaven in disc form for hard-core robot maniacs. The gameplay of Dynasty Warriors, the seemingly endless array of mobile suits and other giant robots from the longest-running SF anime in all Japan...it was a cocktail just as potent for the otaku of America as it was for the sheer legions of Gundam nerds in Japan, which collectively bought over 275,000 copies of the game across three platforms.
Koei and Namco Bandai Games know how to please these folks, of course -- with more robots, more weaponry, and more, well, more to everything. Announced in Japan this week, Gundam Musou 2 (like the rest of Koei's Warriors series) does not deviate that much from the norm -- you are still controlling a single robot as you fight through a mechanized army, occupy strategic points on a game map, and fight bosses. The missions in the game's story mode are based off plotlines from past Gundam anime, and this mode is getting a full power-up this time around. In addition to new attacks and special moves in the previously-available story missions, you'll get your first chance to play through a video version of Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack, the 1988 animated film that many fans still see as the pinnacle of the entire series. There's Amuro Ray in his RX-93 Nu Gundam, fully outfitted with missile-spewing fin funnels; there's Char Aznable in his custom-built red MSN-04 Sazabi taking him on; there's the Gundam fan on the other side of the monitor already salivating at the idea of playing this duel out for themselves. It's killer.
Char's Counterattack isn't the only addition to the story mode (early information hints that, at the very least, the Strike Freedom from Gundam SEED and SEED Destiny will be playable), but the focus on this initial announcement has been placed squarely on the mobile armours that serve as Gundam Musou 2's bosses. If you're unfamiliar with this anime, all you need to know is that mobile armours are gigantic -- a good ten times the size of your mech, usually -- the first time in the entire Warriors series you've gotten to fight something so formidable. Mobile armours slated to appear in the game include the MA-08 Big Zam from the original Mobile Suit Gundam, the NZ-333 Alpha Azieru from Char's Counterattack, and the MRX-009 Psyco Gundam from Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. They're quite big.
All this robot madness is being laid out simultaneously on three platforms this winter. In Japan, Namco Bandai is releasing the Omega Force-developed Gundam Musou 2 on the PS2, PS3 and Xbox 360 December 4; the PS2 game will be 6800 yen, while the other two are set to cost 7800 yen. No US release has been announced yet.
