E3 2010 June 14-17

Honestly I have low expectations for this E3. There aren't too many games that I know of that I am too interested in. It seems to me the focus is 3DS, Kinect, and Move.

I want the following from this E3:

FFXIV info
Release date for GT5
Some hint on what the new Zelda will be.
Some Metroid Other M gameplay impressions.
A lot of gameplay from Last Guardian.
Patapon 3 for PSP and playable on PS3.
That is about it.

Maybe a few surprises like Persona 5 or Demon Souls 2.

Some hint on what the new Zelda will be.

Nintendo is supposed to unveil the new Zelda tomorrow, so that will be taken care of.
And there's a giant FFXIV banner/booth on the show floor, so I'm sure we'll hear more information on that as well.

And I want The Last Guardian and ICO/SotC HD information as well.

I'm looking forward to the new zelda, but god i hope it'll be good in story as it did in Twilight Princess.

I also want to play MGS: Rising, free cutting enemies in slow motion is just fuckin sweet.

Also, Gears 3.. 'nuff said..

Like most, I was rather underwhelmed by the 360 presentation. Yeah, the ancillary functions of Kinect look interesting, and even useful, but as a game controller, it has yet to impress. It's still as imprecise and laggy as it's been in every other demo I've seen, and I expect it'll basically attract the same kind of games as the Wii, albeit with better graphics. I didn't see the Peter Molyneaux touted functions of advanced facial and voice recognition, just the basic stuff that was what I expected it to be capable of.

On the whole, I'm going to reiterate the same prediction I made last time, with the new names: The Kinect is going to be a more comprehensive device, but not a very good game controller, while the Move is going to be a better game controller, but not do much else.

As for the games they showed, meh. I'm not a huge shooter fan, so that made the vast majority of their big titles a non-event for me. Fable has always promised so much and delivered so little, and as a result I'm incredibly skeptical of anything with that name. The Kinect games were basically what I expected, and nothing particularly revolutionary. Destructible environments in the MGS game were promising, but those are often a disappointment, so I'll wait and see on that one.

E3 as far as cool content goes will continue to be boring until these current game franchises die. Gears, Halo, Fable, CoD, MGS, Resistance, Killzone, Uncharted and some others all have too much success and hype as sequels and trilogies for anything new to come to life. That alone kills any E3 hype for me. So i go into watching E3 with a level head and i dont get dissapointed by a strategic reveal of games we already know are coming. As i see games i knew were going to be shown and wanted to see, i enjoy it. Nothing crazy about E3 with so called blockbusters taking all the fuzz.

Now that I think about it... I really want to know what Blizzards new MMO will look and be like. I hope they hit us with that.

yeah I want to see Sony's conference tomorrow because I have no idea what to expect o.o

Good showing from EA. I loved old Hot Persuit games... Glad its going back there because i am sooooo tired of the fast and furious stuff. Dead Space 2.. Pretty much my second most anticipated game this year. Crysis 2 looks great but i dont get whats all the visual fuss about because it doesnt come close to KZ2 for me and not on same planet as Crysis 1. I hope the game is good anyways. I cant get excited for Star Wars yet as it looks like a ps2 game.

Well, as WoW has proved, there's more than graphics to define an MMO, especially. And the graphics don't look bad, just more in the slightly cartoony vein that WoW resides in, quite possibly on purpose.

Xbox Live + mass Wi-Fi = not payin' for it after my year is up...

WoW looks the way it does because thats what decent graphics were expected to be on an MMO at release date in 2004. Here we are in 2010 and EA is working with Bioware for a super hyped MMO, yet it looks like 2004 again. For sure the visuals wont decide if its a good game or not but its the first thing you get to judge. Look at FF14 and it looks damn close to FF13 as far as visuals go... For me the Star Wars game is one big meh to me so far.

/shrug, what I've seen of the game so far looks more stylized than bad.

Man, Medal of honor multiplayer sure looks familiar...

Ubisoft is too weird man.

Microsoft's E3 was C- at BEST. Why? They only showed 5 games.

I'll repeat that.

They only showed 5 games, 3 of them exclusive to 360 (Gears3, Halo Reach, Fable3). I will admit that MGSRising looks like fun, though you can tell Kojima is only a name to the game now, that hack/slash stuff looked cool.

They spent way way way way way too long on Kinect. The games that they showed for it looked like stuff you'd find on a wii. (My Sims Tiger?). Though I'd admit, that dance game by harmonix looks like it would be a decent party game if you had friends over or something. But Turk danced so much better to Poison than that chick did.

Their wiif- er, Avatarfit, looked like it could be kind of cool. But again, I'm on xbox for games, not fitness training. I'd go outside and exercise or join a gym instead of buying a game that tells me to exercise.

Wasn't announced but it's rumored to be a $149.99 launch for the Kinect kit. I'm not gonna spend $150 just so I can say "xbox end chat" where i could just hit B to back out of the chat.

ESPN looks decent, especially since it's no additional cost.

New 360 slim was bound to happen sometime. Nice to see they took a que from Sony to add in wifi.

tl;dr -- WHERE ARE THE GAMES, MICROSOFT?

I hope Sony has something worthwhile to show. You know there's gonna be Move there, but I hope they dont waste 50 minutes of their presentation on it.

Modnations Racers was really the only thing I was looking forward to this entire year. I don't expect to be making a lot of purchases, still have some of last years games to play.

Also, I'm not sick of Uncharted 2's online yet. I could go for a few games of that right now...

Yeah, it'll be great. Xbox Live will be just like PSN except we'll pay for our shitty Wi-fi lag filled matches.
