Because Portal, infamous and valkyria chronicles are nostalgia? The games are barely a few years old. They don't need to play up on people's nostalgia to sell them. Final fantasy doesn't play the nostalgia card, each game offers a new world and characters. Twisted metal and patapon ill give you.

I haven't read up on everything from the conferences (damn everyone posting video stuff that doesn't work on mobile!), but I do know that one of Nintendo's announcements included Golden Sun which also isn't in the age/notoriety range for nostalgia, so Nintendo's offerings are hardly all oldschool rehashes.

But hey, you gotta take into account a few things here: first and foremost, Nintendo has more successful and enduring concepts than any other company by a huge margin. They moreso than anyone else have the back catalogue and creative department to pull it off - yeah, Mario #50 doesn't sound that exciting when you boil it down to that, but Mario Galaxy is flat out proof that being such an old and abused concept doesn't take a goddamn thing away from a great game, and that Nintendo is still throwing out new ideas and bleeding creativity even in the latest sequel for literally their oldest character.

If you really think the other devs wouldn't do the same thing with their properties if they had the same longevity as Nintendo, I want some of what you've been smoking!

But I love having only 50% of my post quoted.

It was the only point I cared to address. Where's the rule that to respond to someone's post you MUST respond to all of it? :\ plus in my defense, I don't have a working computer at the moment so I'm reading and posting using my Blackberry, with the pretty barren Mobile theme which doesn't even support replying with a quote by default, I have to copy/paste the text in one shot manually.

Never said they wouldn't. Just that it is what made most of Nintendo's presentation lackluster for me.

Yeah, I've been anticipating LBP2 since the announcement trailer a few months back.
They already said DLC will carry over from LBP1, but I wonder if costumes and stuff unlocked in LBP1 will carry over as well.

I figured Konami would make E3 for me. More 2D Castlevania goodness and we're finally goin' to get some Otomedius lovin' in the states (think Gradius with boobs). Would be really awesome if Konami released it with the touch pad arcade stick the first one got in Japan.

No worries. There's always some YMMV factor with sequels and such.

New Vegas.. I was hoping it'd be a bit closer to classic Fallout gameplay wise, rather than look like a standalone expansion for FO3 that costs $60.

Personally, I wanted more Fallout 3 so I'm glad thats what we're getting. They've said pretty much from the start it'd be the same gameplay mechanics.

I was expecting an expansion that'd be 60 bucks :P why I've not been excited about it :(

I love me some strawberry jam.
Also, I was excited about Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, but then they said it was an XBLA exclusive. Sadness.

I never played 1 or 2. I want to do so when I have the time.
