I know you can basically do anything. So I am running around, Nin/Mnk, and beating on things... and my ranged attacks? miss 99% of the time.. all capped... except Throwing.
I REALLY wanna work throwing now..... ...... then I look at darts, now at 99/stack.. and it costs 50k/stack of animal glue.. so youre paying, on average 60k/stack on darts... 60k? thats retarded.. tell me there is something out there for thf before 15?
Aside that, I will be exping in a PT at 15.. I know /war but, what am I looking for? +agi? +dex? +str? I've never been a tank, this is only my 2nd Melee I will be pting with, and it's far from just shrugging off hits.. getting hit hurts bad.
So, any advice? I have no choice but to take it to 37.. but I'd like to at least be the best I can be.
 
Darts are usually really cheap at the chocobo stables, that's where I get all mine from ^^
 
I don't know why you gonna make it to nin at 37 tho, most people will not invite you cuz you won't tank (thats how people are like in ffxi)

well if you really able to make it your nin to lv.37 without tanking, you can go for Str and Dex, with DD weapons,

maybe you should put up some shadow too incase you get hate, and you have no choice but to back up tank

or you could go all agi, dex str, etc

all up to you

<.<; I meant I will be tanking.. I've just never done it before.. Nin/War tank is expected.. War is already high enough to carry Nin.. if I like Nin, I'll take it higher but right now I have to take it to 37, not an option. :p
 
I've only taken my NIN to 23 so far. But personally I have aimed for +agi and +eva on my NIN. My theory was if I could dodge one more attack for each time I casted Utsusemi, then it would be one less hit I would take, if I took a hit since by them missing that one hit it may give me enough time to get utsusemi up before getting hit again(did that make sense?). Sure NIN already has high eva and parry but I figured more wouldn't hurt.

Only thing is it can be hard to tank and hold hate at times. You don't dish out tons of damage and if you use Ninjutsu for elemental debuffs your actually dealing little damage in a longer amount of time then it takes to swing your katanas. In the end it seems to not be worth it. Id say blind, slow, and paralyze ninjutsu would help but besides that theres no use, unless your just throwing in one elemental debuff now and then for the skill ups.

As a ninja I find myself constantly voking....its like that for most tank jobs but compared to Warrior it seems harder to hold hate at times.

It's harder, at low levels, to hold hate as ninja compared to war because of the lack of damage you put out.
As soon as you get the enfeeble ninjutsu; kurayami, hojo and jubaku, start using them (I left out the poison one because it isn't really helpful for your tanking).
They take a while to cast as Ichi spells, but are well worth it.

As far as equipment go, well, it depends on your pt setup.
If you are the only one able to tank, then evasion and agi gear will probably help most.
If you have another nin, or a war/nin or w/e to help you, I'd go with some DD gear.

As for ranged attacks, save yourself the hassle, wont have much time to spare to be throwing anything once you start exping anyway.
Unless you wanna do the old nin/rng trick, which I'm not so sure work these days.
Used to be great though.
 
Im leveling NIN atm and ive been having some success with bringing tanking and DD gear along with me. It makes it easier to hold hate and cast Utsusemi when im able to macro in DD gear to gain hate and then macro in eva gear to cast spells. This is also usefull since i don't always know what the party setup is so im pretty much prepared to DD or tank to fit the needs of the party. Im still learning NIN also so im open to any input or suggestions
 
lol I spent 60k to make 96 and they are like 9g each ._. I hate when a formula is that retarded.

but yeah I got it.. ended up just darting one and owning it up close.. 15 now.. War is only 28.. I can't get a pt for my life ._. gonna get screwed out of promies.. again! ; ; so yeah, gonna hit 30.. level rdm and slowly takewar to 37...... then sell all the junk off it and NEVER touch it as main EVER again ><
Oh I can't wait to melt down this chainmail ._.
