Well

I have almost got My Yigit feet for my BLM 16.7/20k

I have tried doing this assault various ways and I would like to outline the easiest ways to get most points safely.

1, You don't HAVE to get mines..

2. DoT 4tw

Basically forget getting mines and DoT using high damge melee and good BLM or RDM that knows how to get elemental DoT's on as well as Bio2

4 people is all you need to have a safe win = more points

combos I have seen work

4 x BLM
3 x BLM 1 x RDM
2 x BLM 2 x Melee

I am sure other combinations work, but I am 100% certain that you can get a win with the above combos as long as they are decent at their job.

Melee /sub best job for dmg/acc
BLM wear mp gear at first and perhaps take a cpl yags
RDM can do similar to BLM but can also chainspell drain / refresh and haste

1. invis : then own first wall BLM must Bio 2, shock, choke, burn
2. invis: 1 BLM goes to solo the North wall. Everyone else follows the other BLM and take out the first East wall
3. Everyone then does same to 2nd and 3rd East walls

At around 50% health on last wall. Somebody goes back to portal

easy

(unless you get magic aggro like i did once while going to portal < /slap)

I think I was there when you died going back to the portal!!!

I yes this assault is really easy but boring

look me up sometime, ill go for this one, theres a few items id like out of here. i can go RDM or MNK for the setups you prefer.

I've done this about 15 times with a blm/blm/rdm setup. Never a 4th member. Hell, we got bored and did it once as war/bst/blm and still won with 3 members. We did it today as blm/blm/war and won too. Never needed a bomb.

Your tactics are right on. Just stating that it works with 3 members equally well. And 1333 assault points is nice. 1466 or whatever when leader is nice too.

Oh, and I usually manafont on one of the runs when I go. And the other members usually do too. Just makes things a little easier. Use tier III spells (and drain if you want) when you do.

Yup.. I was that newb^^

But.. the method is good

A ninja with some haste gear and, poison/venom pots and an shinobi earring works quite well too.

I feel embarrased... but I only did two assaults so far and haven't completed one XD I did them back in the first week of the expansion too. I guess I never got bothered with assaults but I should really get into them and complete them to rank up and stuff.

Screw rank ups. These missions are wicked money! lol.

I've run this a number of times too.

Our strategy has used 2 monks and 4 mages (mix of blms and rdms). I think the ideal way to go (the way we've been doing it) is mnk, rdm, blm, x2 each job.

Blms use the buffs mentioned above. Rdms keep up haste and refresh. Mnks do their thing, which is melee DoT.

After DoT spells, blms cast drain, blizzard I, water I (extra mp isn't worth the limited extra damage off II+ spells).

After first wall, one "team" of blm, rdm, mnk goes north across the rock bridge and gets the wall to the NE of that, while the other goes east and starts on the three in a row. After north wall is dead, that team joins the others on the three in a row. At 5 minute warning, one monk runs back to rune of release.

We used two hours when we started this, but we always had about 4 minutes left at the end.

We took bomb aggro at the beginning once and had one death. We chose to exit using the firefly temp item and start over.

Hope this is helpful!

We did this yesterday with 3 BLM, 1 RDM, 1 War/Nin.

2 of the BLM were Taru so MP wasnt as much of a problem for them as it was for me(Hume)... so I admit having some MP gear would have helped. We took out the first wall, 1 BLM, RDM, and War went to East Wall and me and the other BLM took out North Wall. Then we met up and took out last walls. At about 50% the BLM with least MP ran back to beginning. We ended up winning with about 2 seconds left. O_O (The wall was beat, just the BLM was still running for a bit)

You have the right jobs doing generally the right things.

but..

..sending half your party to the north wall is not efficient as the other 3 walls are close to each other on the east. A solo BLM can solo that wall in about 6 minutes, leaving the other 5 to mash the East walls. Better to have one person walking a lot than 3. The BLM who solo's North wall can either walk back to portal or assist in some of the East walls.

You will find that the overall time to complete this will drop significantly and make you contemplate using less people in future.

As regards to Thunder II as a spell I am in two minds.

Surprisingly Thunder 2 does pretty much same damage as thunder IV. It doesn't have a long cast time either.

My Thunder II do between 17-20 dmg while my Thunder I does 8-10 dmg. So it's a similar bang for buck. One good thing about including Thunder II is that it will allow you to use your mp up more quickly for same damage. Then you can heal up and do the same again.

If you are on DoT duty best to stick with tier 1.

One BLM on North wall is the way to go on this.
