Anyone shop online trhough ebay? Im interestd in buying a anime dvd. but im not entirely sure of the safety in it. Ive bought stuff from amazon.com before, so im not sure how different ebay is. PI want to know who safe paypal is and if ther are any risks involved.

go ahead and buy the stuff, its all safe. If you ever get jipped on anything, trust me....the seller will be in deep poopoo. The person has to be really ballsy to screw something up. The only thing i can tell you to watch out for are shipping charges. Many Many times, there are outrageous S&H fees for a small item. Thats how the sellers sometimes profit. Look for an item decently priced and with the lowest chipping fees possible. Paypal is secure, dont worry about it. Just make sure u sign up correctly. I had to close and reopen my account because I couldnt change my shipping address.

As long as the seller has a bit of feedback, and you can pay through Paypal, I'd say it's really safe. I've never had a problem with it...although I keep a credit card with a low credit limit just in case...

Have they changed anything in the last year? I bought something a little over a year ago, promptly paid, sent an e-mail to the seller, and got no reply. A week later, no reply, no purchased item, another e-mail. Repeated process a week later, same results. I started one of those mediation things, which are voluntary, and he didn't do it, so no help there. How could he have been in deep poopoo?

eBay is NOTHING like Amazon. When you buy from Amazon, you buy from a company. When you buy from eBay, you buy from an individual seller -- not eBay itself.

Check the seller's rating. I only buy from people who have done a number of sales and have very positive feedback ratings. If you buy from someone who has the "shades" icon, it means they're too new -- which should be a red flag. A bad seller might try to just change their eBay name frequently so as soon as they trash the reputation of one account they just open a new account.

Buy from an established seller with a good reputation (by checking their ratings) and you'll be fine.

crap, I tried to register but I ahve to be 18 and I dont want to give fake info. Guess Ill wait till next saturday when ill turn 18! ^^

Ebay is great for buying certain things...

it kind of blows for buying Jpop CDs though, Bootleggs out the ass. Gotta be really careful.

Just bought The Black Mages' album from there a couple days ago. Got it within a couple days of winning the auction. Like said above, if they don't give you what they buy, they'll get into big trouble. And PayPal has a security thing with purchases under $500 I believe. Something like that.

Yeah, it's all about the seller's feedback ratings. I've purchased stuff off eBay using PayPal and had no problems.

Paypal also offers insurance for a few extra bucks, that way you can guarantee a refund if you don't get your item.

JENDER LOVES EBAY - but have been screwed a few times (like 2 out of the 60 times I have bought stuff, so no big deal) so yeah definitely check the seller rating and the comments on thier account - and if you are still skeptical grab the Paypal insurance. :)
