How is the in-game economy coming along?

Last time I quit it was in quite the rut.

It depends what you mean...

When prices are going up, buyers aren't happy,
When prices are going down, seller's aren't happy,
and every sale has a buyer and a seller.

RMT bannings have taken a heap of gil from the servers and prices are still dropping (have been for 6 months or so...)

Price for crystal stacks have changed. Last time I played on Quet they were 6k for a fire stack I think, now their 1k and water is up to 2.5 (cooking is becoming important I guess. >.>

Yeah, the economy is nice right now, though i've been seeing some gilsellers lately. I leave my trust in SE to ban their sorry butts. I'm just glad it's finaly how it was back when ffxi started up :)

Low prices to near or below what they were 2 years ago. But as a result of all thier gilseller banks being closed they responded with creating more gilseller farming accounts to zerg thier way past the banstick and makeup for gil/accounts lost.
The following NM are considered gilseller dominated:
All of SSG
Fei Yin in general
Kuftal tunnel
Small group has gotten past promy yet the only thing at thier stage to go after is a NM called padfoot yet they dont go after it. They seem to be stalled atm by the fact that some skil is required to proceed in cop missions so they can get to the big money monopolizing sea.(only on a few servers have RMT monopolized and sold lotting rights to ex gear in sea)
serket
ulli(recent)
Simurgh
King arthro
Roc
Behemoth
A few others ect..
King vinegaroon(Not dominated but for unknown reasons they killed this NM with a mainly ex drop last week. It's main drop is the extremly nice rare ex ace's helm and it happens to drop a vclaw.)

Good news is many of these groups have become so accustomed (or maybe just suck so much at playing) to thier monopolies of certain areas that they are extremely slow claimers and as such can be beaten for easy money. Ive also heard scattered reports of organized groups Camping vs them in for the HNM so we might possibly get a grip back on our game the second that "RMT taskforce" decides to ban the remaining ones en masse or more players make an effort vs them.

Crafting is now a loss due to an overpopulation in the crafting profession and the cost of materials being slighty~far more than the synth uless its an hq.

Assault is a nice way to make money.
ENMs are too but you need to know people to set one up.
The main bcnm done atm is the BCNM 40 Peacock charm one.

Sushi and shieh(used by nearly all melee is cheap as hell now but also the ingredients are mostly aquired from gilsellers)
Regualr farming for gil still works if you choose the right stuff but im not getting into specifics.

Nnnnnnnno...? 95% of RMT use bots, usually in addition to other forms of cheating. If you happen to get claim over them it's due to lag/DC or you finding one of the []very very very few[/i] that don't use claimbots.

General monopolized areas, as Khajit as already mentioned, are generally everything in SSG, Fei'Yin, Oztroja, Davoi/Monastic Caverns. Recent NMs they've picked up on are Ullikummi, Zoraal Ja's Pkuucha, Energetic Eruca, Ose, MM Profblix, Centurio X-I, Antican Praefectus, Stray Mary, Wyvernpoacher Draclox, Ungur, Big Bomb. They also already have a decent stranglehold on Serket, Roc, Bune, Guivre, Simurgh, KA, Cemetary Treant, Lumber Jack, Sozu Sarberry, Sozu Norberry, Padfoot, LoO, Ooze, Tonberry Decapitator. They attempt Behemoth and Fafnir and have recently taken up trying KV and Cerberus.

They do KS30/99 as well as fishbot for Shihei tools, monopolize Orcish Goldmasks for desynth, got a party farming spider webs outside Aht Urghan nearly nonstop...they're attempting to monopolize the elemental stave market...know I'm missing some but that's all I can remember currently.

To answer your question though, everything is currently rather fair-priced, but virtually anything worth remotely anything is heavily camped, if not completely controlled, by RMT.

Like i said depends on where you are.
ive found a few spots where they do simply suck at claiming.
I've had my contrlller crap out on me and drop ect then by the time it works a teammate claimed the instant my controller works after a few seconds during which time the gilsellers didnt claim. I've not evaluated thier claim speed on all of thier hnm yet since I don't go to those.

EDIT: this also largely depends on if that RMT taskforce gets off thier asses and does something which is highly unlikley.
There are some areas (not many) where they are slow claimers. not going to list them exactly cause a lsmate has begun camping vs them for easy profit lately.

People claimed that the ordelles gilsellers were impossible to beat yet i took out 60-90% of thier claims depending on luck each day as a thf/nin claiming with steal since I couldnt solo Chyme with my badly underleveled marksmanship skill and warrior sub in the low 40's. When I got thf up higher they hated me with a vengance.
It's because of that that I dont beleive gilsellers to be impossible to beat via claims until I personally see it and/or try at least a few times.

I had gil stockpiled and the value shot through the roof. Buying all my expensive monk gear ASAP while prices are still falling. Farming is tough, but its well worth it.

Funny how padfoot's in the list. I can tell you the gilsellers don't bother with that one, because a) it takes too many people to get a good probability to claim the correct padfoot and b) even in the best case, the drop is 1 item that is not all that expensive, and doesn't sell fast. In other words, it's not a good time investment for them.

How do I know? Because some members in my LS have been camping it for some time now, and their competitors have never been RMT.

k taking that of the list then. That makes it really weird then cause thers a group of rmt with lufaise yet they dont seem any farther into the storyline to camp other stuff and thats one of the only things in the area even worth camping. I'd also heard it being mentioned as someting rmt are starting to go after. If the RMT were farther into the storyline somone would have noticed by now.

There are some RMTs at megalo on rare occasions--very rare, since the drop rate on it is total crap. If you see a party of RMTs in Lufaise, maybe they're meriting? They seem to avoid the more popular xp spots since they're gonna have people pissed at them should they start meriting, in places like, say, mamook.

Dunno if anyone noticed, but by the same reason, bibiki bay has become an RMT stronghold... One time, I saw a huge group of taru mages (over 10), all wearing the exact same equipment, LS-less, etc. manaburning dhalmels lol.

Rmt were meriting on imps the other day this week in mire so they dont give a shit about pissing off players anymore. Yes I'd call a thf in full noct gear at lv 71+ with an aj a gilseller. the rest of the pt had crappy gear too. Lets not even get into how blm are never seen in mire esp not in a near manaburn with nin/war puller. Of course theres always the classic eremites rings at lv 75, /anon full pt cheap as hell gear including ws quest weapons to save gil. I wouldnt be surprised if the gear wasnt worth 100k total on em.

Uaeevil (or whatever the hell he's named) used to be at Padfoot/Megalo all the time back in August. Sorry if my tabs aren't completely up-to-date.

Yah, RMT have been real conscientious about what they do and where they camp...

So much for cutting all ties to this game whatsoever, eh Jared?

Everyone makes it out like they can't beat gilsellers because of bots, but they generally have a shitty connection so it turns out semi ok.

Heh, don't get your hopes up. I was just curious.
