Are they worth it?

In a max skill/Macc build, yes, but if you're looking to drop skill for Int/mnd this would be the first piece i replace.

I've got a Bugard Strap +1 (MP+10 INT+1 MND+1 CHR+1), I picked up a Wind Grip for Maat, and a couple others cause they were cheap. With a couple exceptions, most of my gear is INT/MND.

Effect of the grips

- when you INT or MND is > mob's corresponding stat, 2 magic acc = 2% landing rate.
- when your INT is below the +10, 2 mac still gets you bonus but less then 2 INT/MND. Considering you have either 1 INT or 2 mnd in that slot, the grip is not the best option in that case for enfeebling magic, but should be the best on nukes.
- MP is always good to take.

This is all theory though, no point bringing all your grips with you.

What about the elemental DoTs? Shock and Drown and so on . . .

Where I generally don't have a problem landing enfeebles, those sometimes don't stick as well as I'd like.

It works the same way though they are useless on rdm, but if you want to use them go for accuracy as long as you break 100 INT, meaning +37 INT only for my elvaan RDM.

Those are based off Elemental Skill much like Bio is based off dark. I'm not sure of the values and stuff though..

Why are they useless on RDM? If I understand correctly, the damage and stat down effect is based on INT.

From what I've gathered, elemental skill effects (affects? Those two confuse me) how likely/long it is to stick. The actual damage, unlike with Bio, is based on INT.

what about helix's for sch ?

Not that this is the SCH thread, but I'd go with INT for Helix, assuming you have an Elemental torque and are using the AF body. Treat it like a BLM's nuke on priority, but also add in weather, as I believe by default Helix get the bonus from weather automatically, where other spells (without an Obi) only get it randomly (33-50% based on Wiki's numbers...).

Anyhow, I only use the Dark grip and only macro it in with the Dark Staff. Since bio is based primarily on skill and not INT and it never hurts to have a little extra accuracy for sleeps. Otherwise it's Staff Grip or the +10MP +1 INT/MND one, usually. Otherwise I focus on INT/MND or skill if the situation requires it.

Same it's the only one I bother bringing 100%. I do bring earth and ice for odin, until i know it's exact MND. If some /whm or whm outthere could throw a banish on him i'd appreciate.

Well the initial bio damage is based on int too. Anyway, I said they are useless on rdm because it's based on elemental skill, so basically anything higher than VT will get you decent resists.

As said numerous times, shit is situational. If you want to max out debuffs on mobs you can land them reliably on, pick stat+ over macc+. If you are having trouble landing debuffs reliably on mobs (Khim, Cerb, Sky gods etc) then MACC in a slot like that is pretty good. Ice grip for bind is kinda cool too, same with wind for Grav/Silence, and dark for sleep/aspir/drain.

Did you ever get this taken care of, Pchan? If not, remind me or Meth on Sunday and we'll check it out. Meth should be WHM/SCH and I'll be RDM/WHM most likely.

worth it if you get a lot of resists on your enfeebs or nukes. With things like slow2 it's better to use mnd to increase the % of slow if you can land it consistently. I personally use elemental grips all the time on my nukes because of rdm's low elemental skill it helps with resists.
