On Apr. 18, 2006. 10:00 (PDT) we will be performing emergency maintenance on all Worlds. Scheduled maintenance time is 2 hours. During this time FINAL FANTASY XI will be unavailable. You may view the Information section for more details.

Well thats good because since the update I haven't been able to login, via windower or normal FFXI.

they do this all the time :P every major maintenance goes from noon to late night for the US people (on average) which puts the HNMs to be right around a decent time for NA for atleast a week and then the next day they suddenly have an emergency maintenance putting HNMs on a time bad for most as it always ends up when people are at school/work and then the windows always stay in those bad times for weeks >.> I so think SE is doing it delibrately
 
Part of this maintenace might be to fix the "HP regen while resting" bug. You got a flat 10/tick last night, no incremental rise. So 10, 10, 10, 10, etc...

They probably had a few other things to fix that were broken by the patch, and some NPC behaviour I have seen posted elsewhere.

It's only 2 more hours, think insult to injury. Do the christian thing and turn both cheeks, then bend over and turn two more. Nothing else you can do about it. :)
 
Does Square even use Atomos? There should never really be any huge bugs in a patch when you have a freaking test server.
 
It is, I read that it was to fix a few issues, including the NPC sex change issue and the 10 HP a tic HP regen when resting thing.

Sucks though, I just get home from work and there's maintenance ;(

It's a huge game, I'm currently a student taking a degree in game design, and even 2d games can be coding nightmares. I can only imagine the horror of a game as massive as a MMO, if something broken they don't just flip a switch, they have to go in and fix it. (hence a patch) Also, somethings just aren't predictable, you test for obvious things but you can't predict that the new patch would do something stupid.

I know I could never predict a new patch causing regen to insta kill the caster, for example. :P
 
"Obvious things" should include looking at a map, seeing if healing still works as it's supposed to, and seeing if fellowship NPCs still work.

Sorry if I expect them to get the basics of the game right during patching. If some odd abilities were off, understandable. But these things are the core of the game.
 
Oops, screwed up code orders when new items were added. Now Rarabs are dropping Behemoth Hides. :roll:

I got 110 exp on an Even Match Phuabo today.

Was this another glitch? Something added in the update as a bonus to solo jobs? Or something I amazingly failed to realize that happened in a past update???

Or are Sea mobs just fecked up like that?...

I think I saw fafnir be one shoted in dunes by a no subjob whm.


But I didn't see any glitches or problems, those must be it. :P

SE can't afford a test server. They spend too much money buying their executives crack and their planning department acid apparently.
 
Yea, they hit the emergency NA might get HNM's button. "Several issues were resolved, including North American players claiming key HNM."
