Uh...it drops the ranger job. You want me charging you 75k to start ranger? Because I'll sit there and provoke that old tiger so that you can never get it unless you pay me 75k.

How long has it been since you've done the RNG flag quest?

The tiger spawns AFTER you check the old bones. And it spawns claimed to you. No one else can hurt it until it dies naturally.

Personally I'm going to camp VE just as much as I used to before. Yes there's a handy trick you can use. Requires NO third party programs. Just common sense.

No I won't charge people to enter my party and lot on the item. I'll get it. Throw it away. And keep hunting VE.

I'm there for the thrill of the hunt. Screw you SE for taking away another way to make money. It should have been all or nothing. Not just 4 items Rare/Ex. It should have been ALL or NOTHING. They've only moved the problem elsewhere.

Poor poor update SE. You guys just shit in your living room.

You go ahead and camp VE just to throw the pins away. Keep in mind there is no /tantrum emote.

I do believe monopolizing a mob with Rare/ex drops to simply toss the item and prevent others from getting it is known as "grief tactic", isnt' it? There were accounts banned for monopolizing mobs (Stoper Chyme) over and over.

Also, about the RNG flag quest:

In the update on Dec. 9, 2004:

Playonline[/url]]The Old Sabertooth that plays a part in the quest "The Fanged One" will now only appear after a player has targeted the set of tiger bones in the Sauromugue Champaign.
In addition, the Old Sabertooth will no longer drop any items.

Only way a pin sells is if someone buys it. I usually undercut because the money is a bonus to the hunt and even by undercutting I still get a MASSIVE amount of gil. I used to hunt the thing when it was only worth 250k.

---------

All I ever hear is how people are price gouging the items. And that "Oh god there's other ways of making gil stop camping 1 NM, jeez guys."

Well if there are. You go do them. Make more gil, and buy it off of the Auction house.

No skin off my back to sell it for only 600k isntead of 700 or 800.

The 'secret' is in widescan but it's not in the ability itself it's what you do with it. Have a stopwatch? That's enough to make VE yours.

You go ahead and camp VE just to throw the pins away. Keep in mind there is no /tantrum emote.

No but I'll continue to /fume <Thank You> Very much.

Nah, I highly doubt it is. And there's no monopolizing. I do this maybe twice a day. "Oh I had this unfortunate accident, I accidentilly dropped my empress hairpin..." Guess I'll have to get one more.

It's not in 'acquiring' the item. It's in the hard work and the challenge I get from beating others to it. I guess I'm one of the few who take pride in my actions and not the rewards that I reap from them.

Edit: First double post I've ever had on QCDN... Go me!

Edit: Actually make that a triple post.

I think LL was actually worth camping.
The trick to valkurm emperor is still to farm or craft 800k.
The trick to archer's rings is to farm or craft 500k.
Unfortunately there is no such trick for Argus. :(

Or was :o

Yea considering LL drop rate with TH2 is like 1 in 8 compared to VEs drop rate of 1 in 3

They are both widescanned NMs, I just think most of you were too scared to come to the dunes and get your asses handed to you by veteran campers. So you go out and camp lizzy vs the noobs ....

and no the in the widescan is not a secret, everyone knows about that.

Personally I have my likes and dislikes for the Rare/Ex update.

Likes: For the people who insist on having no life and camp VE all damn day and night just to keep raising the price on the AH so it makes gil in the game suck and rediculasley precious comadity, Get bent and go f*** yourself. Im glad SE reamed you m**her f***ers.

Dislike: For the people that may camp these NMs 'cause they actually need the money for other equipment such as a Hauby or Scrop Harness but undercut prices to make sure it sells. Im very sry guys.

SE shafted yall on par w/ shaftin the people who w/o being Gilsellers/buyers still manage to make buying anything in the game a ton of un-needed un-wanted bulls**t.

I should be complaining but I really don't mind.

It's only a game, a game that has ate up somewhere around 130-140 days, and very little of that afk, but still just a hobby-game.

And I guess I should go out and camp the ex/rare items and sell my old stuff? But I don't really want to. I'll make a mil in week to 2 weeks with maybe an hour or two a day, not a ton of effort, easy farming in places with not much competion, no headache...etc etc.

To me I consider keeping the old versions more satisfying, even if it means a few less 100K. It may not be as ultimately effective, but it'll be more pleasent to me, and that's what counts.

To other thf - Most of us have had LL-pin for a very long time-will have the items. We have our pins, our boots, our snipers, our brand new scorpion harness for 5.2 mil, etc etc. It's healthy to want to be better than your competion, but it's annoying and showing one's true colors of greed by whining about said changes.

This complaining about it was comparable to what certain 75s whined about with the xp patch. And they claimed we'd have felt the same way in their shoes. Well, we're in their shoes now in a slightly different sense but for the most part we are, it's our chance to show we meant what we said when the xp patch came out. To me, accepting the change with no hard feeling makes one of the 1 or 2 famous whiners about the xp patch indeed a whiner because I'm not critizing and turning around and repeating what they did.

Pin,LL,sniper, scorpion harness don't make the thief. This game has tons of thfs that are great in xp, but really are morons in non xp events and choke. They just see one side to the job, when the true purpose and role of the job exists outside of xp parties.

For example, I have snipers, pin,LL,bunch of HQ crap, harness, etc etc. But I really only consider myself a slightly above medicore thf in xp. But that's ok, seeing people not use Hide,SATA,SA,TA,proper WS, xp geared equips for non xp makes me relieze there is more to the game than what you have to do in xp. The thf and any other job that understood that before the patch, will still shine at their job even with a bit more balanced playing field.

Hear is a good example of what I mean. Seeing a 61 or 62 thief with scorpion harness use hide on coffer level yagado when the whm was right behind him( the thief ). Both having hate already this didn't work well for the whm who was in the red.

Rappa stfu please

kthnx

umm ya.. just showing a cool pic.... and this thread is clearing things up for people like vang

but your right vang.. a lot of people camp NM for money and SE is fucking them in the ass
SE is 75% fucking me straight up the ass.

Fuck it, let's just team up and if the rare/ex version drops, charge the other campers to join party and lot on it.

Simple as that.

Done deal.

I hate camping NM's. I get bored if I don't know what the window is and usually leave after 20 minutes or so. Two days ago I decided to camp Valkurm Emperor because I had nothing better to do. About 15 minutes after I got there, a high level rng killed it, so I knew I had about one hour before the next window was up. So I went afk, came back, had a few people camping it still, but all eventually left. A sam showed up, then 10 minutes later it popped. I killed it and got my Empress Hairpin. I wouldn't have it if they hadn't made the changes they did in the patch.

Yes I'm lazy and hate camping NM because there are other things I'd rather do than stand around in a game for hours with a small chance of claiming a mob that 15 other people are camping.

Vang over here bitching also, almost missed this thread considering I have no interest in Empress Hairpin. His continual bitching is comical and now I am seeking out his posts for pure reading enjoyment. I usually BCNM for quick cash so this update kicks ass for me by the way. Its more satisfying to win a BC than kick a mobs ass that is 30+ levels below you anyway. Vang you big bully picking on Argus for so long.

To answer the Ranger quest tiger thing, he used to drop the regular old tiger stuff but with an update about a year ago they changed that so people wouldn't farm him.

Has anyone......

.....actually checked AH going rate on Emperor's hairpin? It dived within the first day or so but is now back up to 900k, last one sold for like 970k or so, so we are still talking close to 1 million gil. So people worried about a huge price drop can rest at ease. I get a big laugh at the panicers who over reacted and started to sell them for like 400k. Just like the damn stock market.

On a personal note, I gave up on Valkurm Emperor a month ago and purchased a hairpin through farming/crafting. It was just a pain to try and get, spent many hours flipping through widescan menus while generally speaking alot of the people running around with voke got the claim anyways. The lag between pop and widescan is just rediculous. The kicker for me was when I spent 3 hours camping it, flipping through screens when 2 secs before pop an RDM shows up, get's claim and nearly has it dead by the time it shows up on widescan. By the time I get there with Flee, the thing is on the ground. I never went to the dunes and saw any less than 3 people camping that nm at a time, same faces constantly. I think the only practical way, not relying on dumb luck to get the claim is to draft a partner to help. I don't think skill ever figured into Valkurm emperor, cause he had such a huge spawn radius

Later on 1 pin was left and it sold for a mil, so you're right, the fools sold early :P

As for LL, that dropped 100-200k, but since they're a crafting material winged boots-winged boots+1, there is still use for them in the future.

But I want to keep my items anyway, for the heck of it 8)

You must note that there is a renewed interest in camping these items. Their impact on the auction house will not be felt for some time, as built-up pressure will simply enter the fields instead of the auction house for a while. It's still as hard to get L-boots and emp pin as it ever was--it is highly camped. Thus you would not expect to see a drop in L-boots on the auction house past freak-out phase.

You will probably see liz boots start really dropping first, as they drop the most often. As people leave the gil-dead camp eventually, the AH price will start to go down. Then Emp will follow. I don't expect argus to ever drop in price. The thing just doesn't drop enough to saturate the field. Even people who only camp because they need it are more than enough to make claiming argus difficult because of competition.

Or like the lamenters say...people could be lazier than I hope and moving these boots away from greedy NM hunters may eventually skyrocket their prices. I doubt that'll happen though. Astrals went up in price because lock picking had a higher max capacity than bc'ing does in-game. People will still saturate these NM camps for pretty much forever. I doubt a single L-Lizzy will go unclaimed for 3 straight years.
