End-Game Item E-Peen Rating!

Howdy. This topic is completely experimental and mostly being created to have fun. If you think it's stupid that's fine, you don't have to tell me here.

What I wanted to do was post various end-game gear in waves of 10. Then, everyone would vote on a scale of 1-10 of how high of an "e-peen" the item gives you by owning it. The following should all be taken into consideration when giving an e-peen rating to an item.

1) Rarity/Difficulty to Obtain. Part of having a big e-peen is having something a lot of people don't have. Obviously usefulness matters more, but do take this into consideration when giving an item a score.

2) Usefulness in that item slot. This is probably what I would weigh the most. Having a super-rare item that's completely useless isn't exactly gonna raise your e-peen any. E-peen is all about cranking out those huge numbers as well as looking snazzy! When possible, keep in mind other alternatives to the piece in question and whether or not they are better.

Got it? Great. Remember that 1 is "my grandma has more e-peen than this" and 10 is "people stop and worship me when they see this". I'll refrain from initially voting in each wave so my votes don't influence the votes of others and then I'll maintain the average e-peen rating for each item in this post. Feel free to justify your ratings in your post if you'd like.

I justify Perseus's Harpe and Hauteclaire because of the difficulty it takes to obtain either, and because of just how good either item really is. When I see that, I see "Damn, devotion." Novio and Novia are close seconds. Kclub, well, I don't really care anymore about that unless a good DRK has it. Divisor Ring, easily noted. Dalmatica... a RDM's tool. Morrigan's impresses me more. The rest are becoming more common as the days go by.

Feel free to prove me wrong on this, but I hear Hauteclaire is a sexy piece of equipment for PLD, and I don't see many of them around. A 7 or 8 maybe?

Sorcerer's Belt: 1 INT and +40 HP > -3 Enmity and +5 MND any day.

Edit: Byakko's Haidate: 1 or 0, seriously. It's easy to obtain, there is no epeen in it. Usukane Legs however would be a solid 8.

Adaman Hauberk - Rare, and useful, also hard to get, I'd put this up there.

Black Belt - Isn't the most impossible item to obtain if you got money, tons of ks99's or are just in a shell that kills kings often enough. However it's a great item.

Byakko's Haidate - Great item, common item. Not too overly difficult to obtain.

Dalmatica - sucks, mostly showoff item, and it's not even that uncommon since it drops off 2 kings, not just 1.

Divisor Ring - I have no idea what this is to be honest lol, but I'm prettey sure it's a rare item.

Hauteclaire - great pld item, looks cool, and is decently rare, probably high up on list.

Kraken Club - awesome for only one job really, and is rare, though buyable with a credit card. (enough krakens are owned by gilbuyers rather than people who actually made the gil themselves.)

Novio Earring - Probably one of the rarer item on this list... on this server... though to be honest it's not that hard to obtain, and on other servers they're nearly down to Osode levels, it's just that we suck.

Perseus's Harpe - Not sure on drop rate, but seems like if you keep at it, it's not as hard to do as some of the other items on this list.

Ridill - Maybe it's just my taru luck, but I've seen enough ridills drop in my relatively small number of fafnirs, still a rare and great item though.

I don't think we want to introduce anything from Dynamis. The list would be huge, the above items at least can be used by multiple jobs and make them somewhat dynamic in that sense.

Mistra - why rate Adaberk lower than Haidate? They both are pretty much the best item in each slot for the jobs that can wear them, but the berk is 20x harder to get and is far less common.

This is wave one remember, I plan to do more items. Eventually some of the better dynamis pieces (well, better in my opinion since it's my topic, lol) will get their turn. I just didn't want to overwhelm all at once and get no feedback about everything. If you want to vote, you need to rate everything (and I don't mean all 1s and a 10 for your item of choice, lol). Mistra's post is a good example, just copy/paste the list and put your scores then say what you want to say.

Divisor Ring (7.5ish) its sick but it does have competition from other pieces, even though they can be expensive. The 5 attack is great, but not groundbreaking (I'd change my mind if I had one I'm sure)
Hauteclaire (9) Nice piece especially combined with a piece left off the list, defending ring
Kraken Club (0) No I didn't forget to change this rating. Only one use in the game for it besides making You-tube vids against Too Weaks.
Novio Earring (9) Sexy
Perseus's Harpe (8 )
Ridill (0) Not voting on this one since I can't really give an unweighted opinion.

Black Belt (5) common but good
Byakko's Haidate (3) makes a big difference
Dalmatica (5) pretty amazing combined with rdm af2, also nice combined with relic ballads
Divisor Ring (5) great tp ring.
Hauteclaire (3) just a showoff piece for most scenarios
Kraken Club (5) usage is sorta limited, but one of the best for its case
Novio Earring (5) not that uncommon drop, a nice earring for blm
Perseus's Harpe (3) one of the best daggers for thf? yeah sure, but its not saying that much maybe.
Ridill (8 ) a good weapon with a variety of uses.

Adaman Hauberk (9)-This thing may suck balls if you cant wear it but the gear you see on everyone( in this server) wearing one makes the A hauberk look glorious.
Black Belt (7)-extremely common in an HNMls but still takes a while to collect.
Byakko's Haidate (7)- There's a 1 year waiting list in many shells.. still rare. The waiting time has probably been cut in half now so it'll be lower on the list in a month or 4
Dalmatica (5)-I've seen to many blm running around in these to care. Also the only job that it's even good for is rdm and for brd it's more like... "I felt like getting rid of my V cloak"
Divisor Ring (6.5)- I've only seen like 4 ever albiet getting the people together to assault is the main challenge before zerging em.
Hauteclaire (10)-extremely rare, very tough fight, and the window on that puppy is looong. The stats make pld want to cream defensively and offensively.
Kraken Club (8)- soul eater+ blood weapon. It has only one main/real use but goddamnitt does it work good.
Novio Earring (9)- dont have that many on this server yet so it's pretty high up here
Perseus's Harpe (9)-getting one is absolutely charming
Ridill (9)- due to rarity/usefulness Also there arent too many idiots/gimps running around with one that ive seen so it's still rather impressive esp considering they tend to be attached to +1 gear on every slot.


Looking at this over I probably rated crap too high.

Cmdr while I completely agree, my justification there was the Haubergeon. While not even close to the greatness of an Adaberk, it's at least a comparible item for the slot. For Haidate, there really isn't one, save for maybe Usukane legs... but even then I'd rather have the Dex I think. That's just my justification, although again, I completely agree.

I put more weight in overall usefulness for that slot for the jobs that can equip over difficulty to obtain. In my scale 8 would be virtually the best and I'll save 9 and 10 for the best + most exclusive.

Adaberk, BB, Byakko's, and Ridill, explanation above. Dalmatica, difficult to obtain but rdm is about the only job that can equip that doesn't have a better, more easily obtained AutoRefresh body. Divisor ring, I'd say the best of the acc rings and rare but use is dependant on the rest of your gear and food choices. Hauteclaire and Novio, both great and rare. Kclub, useful for a drk + Souleater and for skillups. Harpe, I really don't know much about daggers but looks decent and I know it's a rare drop.

Adaman Hauberk- Lowering rareness brings it down a bit, but basically once you get this you're DONE with tp/ws for 3 jobs, one of which is very popular. The fact that really nothing's better makes this rate pretty high.

Black Belt- While it's "easier" to get than some other items in end-game, you pretty much have to do HNMs to get one. That can be pretty time consuming. This is another item that means you're DONE with a slot for a job, but only one job.

Byakko's Haidate- Super common, but really it's JUST THAT GOOD that most jobs that can equip it do, at least for TPing. The incredibly good usefulness combined with stupid commonness make it right about a 5 on the e-peen scale.

Dalmatica- Most jobs that can equip it have something equal to it if not better. Exceptions could be made for the right rdm and brd gear setups, but you aren't going to be much better than a rdm or brd without one. It's also more common than a lot of other HNM drops since two kings drop it.

Divisor Ring- Still very very rare. However, while it's a lot better than a sniper at 75 and equal to/slightly better than a sniper+1 at 75, the fact it's only usuable on levels divisible by 5 can make it pretty useless while levelling up a new job. This is balanced out by being usuable in pretty much every level capped event. The rarity alone pushes it up above some other end-game gear, though it's arguable that it's rarity is helped because a lot of people don't know it exists.

Hauteclaire- This piece is pure sex, is still quite rare, and really there just doesn't seem like many better options for a PLD in general. The only problem is that it doesn't have +enmity so you'll still have to lug that Macuahuitl+1 around for some things.

Kraken Club- Too situational to be useful, but the rarity and the fact that when a drk DOES use a k.club and SE/BWs with it is absolutely beautiful pushes this up a bit. It still turns heads to see one, esp on this server, and they definitely have a place in end-game.

Novio Earring- What can you say about this really? There's nothing better for the slot and they are still quite rare on our server.

Perseus's Harpe- The reason I give this a 9 instead of a 10 is that in general, Xolotl just isn't in high demand. If you have friends who want a b.kote and some determination, you can eventually get one of these. The drop rate sucks ass, but Xolotl can be taken with a small group and pretty much monopolized for extended periods of time.

Ridill- Say what you will about it, this thing's pretty much broken. Especially now with additional combat merits available so it's more convenient to merit sword, and the ability to get a supp if you missed one the first time around, this guy just owns all. The rarity could be a bit higher, but it's still something that will get you noticed around town and it can back up all the attention it gets in battle.

Adaman Hauberk - Becoming more common but stats are still pretty much top. And it's blurple!
Black Belt- Becoming more common and I can't freakin see it on models. So, if you have it good for you, but only usable by monks which makes it less appealing to me since I have no plans to level MNK.
B. Haidate- Eh. Go to sky wait in line and eventually get it. Nice piece, but not impressive if you got it.
Dalmatica- Becoming more and more common and really situational. It does allow RDM a hat slot which allows for the possible +2 mp tic configuration with Duelist's Chapeau.
Div. Ring- More about getting lucky but still nice for 75. And as Rappa said, works on level basis... Don't d-lvl.
Hauteclaire- Rare as hell still and OMG stats that are actually useful for PLDs. Plus it's gold and sticks out like a sore thumb. (Guess I'm partial to PLD gear)
K. Club - Rare and everybody I've seen with one knew how to use it right. In most folks hands it's still gimicky.
Novio Earring - Rare and good and a pain the butt to get.
Persus's Harpe - Rare and good but more about the head-ache of getting the drop
Ridill - Definately becoming more common, but good gawd in the hands of somebody that isn't a complete nub, it's totally broken.

Divisor is attack+5 on top of it. Sniper's+1 is more justifiable than Toreador's since it can be used at any lvl 40-75, and also gives Ranged Acc. But Divisor is still above those.
