End-Game Item E-Peen Rating!

why divisor ring and not Toreador's Ring?

Because as mentioned multiple times, this is the first 10 items of MANY that I plan to ask about, and I had to arbitrarily pick ten items that tried to cover as many different random aspects of both job and end-game that I could fit into a 10 item list. Toreador's will surely make an appearance later down the line, though tbh I would wager it's going to rate pretty low because of its job lvl vs a sniper+1.

Wave One:
Adaman Hauberk (7) geat item, not too rare though
Black Belt (2) these are almost given away now
Byakko's Haidate (1) who doesn't have one?
Dalmatica (4) not all that usefull but moderately rare and cool looking.
Divisor Ring (3) I hate assault
Hauteclaire (10) best pld weapon most of the time, only a few on server.
Kraken Club (6) limited uses but very valuable.
Novio Earring (9) untouched blm item, very rare on our server
Perseus's Harpe (5) I'm not a thf, is this item good? I know it's rare.
Ridill (8 ) game breaking item, but not all that rare.

Wave One:
Divisor Ring (3) I hate assault

Pretty silly reason to knock down an item. It's really one of the best melee rings in the game. When it's usable. And none too common either.

And unless you've stumbled upon a cache of Mars's Rings, you're not likely to get anything better.

giving 5 points for rare and 5 points for use:
Adaman Hauberk (8 ) I feel like I'm not giving this enough points
Black Belt (6)
Byakko's Haidate (5) Not rare but extremely useful
Dalmatica (4)
Divisor Ring (7) very nice, but from assault
Hauteclaire (8 ) taking peoples word on it, seems nice.
Kraken Club (3)
Novio Earring (9) Its the blm one, right?
Perseus's Harpe (7) Not too sure about this one.
Ridill (9) Not insanely rare but I love to merit with em.

Wave 1:
Adaman Hauberk ( 8 ) 2 points for rarity, 2 points for usefulness, 2 for exclusivity, and 2 for being so easily recognizable from any angle or distance that you are "the shit". down from 10 due to sutable alternatives added recently (Ares).

Black Belt (10) Even though it's commonplace now to have one if you're amonk, it doesn't detract from the dificulty of getting one, nor it's usefulness. 2 for rarity (Just because there are so many monks with them, doen't mean there are many monks...) 2 for usefulness, 2 for exclusivity, 2 for having NO next best alternative, and fuck it, another 2 just because it's not only the best piece of gear for slot on monk, but any melee, and can only be used by monk...

Byakko's Haidate (5) 2 for usefulness, 2 for recognition, 1 for exclusivity.

Dalmatica (5) 2 For recognition, 1 for usefulness, 2 for exclusivity.

Divisor Ring (6) 2 for epeen, 2 for luck, 2 for usefulness.

Hauteclaire (8/10) Pld: 2 usefulness, 2 recognition, 2 exclusivity, 2 Rarity. Drk +2 for shere rediculous lavishness.

Kraken Club (10) Defines the term Epeen. Turns a loldrk into a LOLdrk. 10 points for the amount of change to one job.

Novio Earring ( 8 ) 2 for exclusivity, 2 for usefulness, 2 for being the best in slot, 2 for rarity.

Perseus's Harpe (4) 2 for rarity, 2 for exclusivity.

Ridill (10) Like the Klub, this redefines any job that uses it.

Since I'm a mage, I'll only comment on what I know.

Wave One:
Dalmatica - On a RDM 8, on a BLM (4) for being a gear whore.
Novio Earring (10) - Trading +2 INT for +7 MAB is amazing. If I see this on any job other then BLM I will shoot myself.

More mage items prs.

But WHM can't use Ridill. BST can. But they're retards if they do. A RDM with a Joyeuse is more efficient.

Oh, thought you were talking about K club for some reason. Samurai's another who'd be pointless to use a ridill.

Wave One:
Adaman Hauberk (6) Easily obtained with the right LS, but a great armor
Black Belt (3) So easy to get, you don't even need an LS to obtain.
Byakko's Haidate (1) Self explanatory, everyone should have one nowadays.
Dalmatica (3) Same deal as adaberk
Divisor Ring (9) Very uncommon and about the best REALISTIC tp ring
Hauteclaire (7) Pretty uncommon, and a great sword for PLD
Kraken Club (3) Easily obtained (gilbuyers usually) and only useful for one job
Novio Earring (9) Sex on your Ear for BLM, and a bit uncommon
Perseus's Harpe (6) Nice dagger for THF, and an annoying drop rate
Ridill (6) Easily obtained with the right LS, but a great weapon

I think Byakko's Haidate still has some weight to it. There's plenty of guys that have all mage jobs, or are fresh starts that aspire to have it some day, and it's the best item for the slot so that in and of itself justifies something higher than 1.

Homam/Nashira has to go on there I think, Nashira more so than Homam. Yeah it's lame, but Ultima doesn't fuck around. This was epeen ratings anyways, looks and difficulty count as much as stats lol.

Definitely need all the Salvage armor sets on there.

Nobody mentioned AV drops, anybody sporting an AV drop deserves some epeen.

And yeah the other rare assault items probably should make an appearance, like Omicrom ring, Divisor Ring, etc.

I'm in agreement that Byakko's Haidate do still have some weight to them. Even after all of this time many people still lust after them and newer linkshells with generally fresh endgamers do indeed have fairly long waiting queues for them.

Ridill (6) Easily obtained with the right LS, but a great weapon

Easily obtained is based on what observation? Maximum of 1 Fafnir kill per day split between all LS's in Aery. Assume an Average of 6 Fafnir's per week. Suppose 3 LS's have the same potential to claim...so that's 2 Fafnir's your LS gets per week.

Unless Peregrine is your thf, the Ridill drop rate is still horrendous. To obtain the ridill you need to:
A. Be the LS that claims on the once a month (average) it drops
B. Be at the camp...easy to say you will, but 3am-6am camps can get old quick.
C. Have the rights to lot it. This means you need to be the Warrior (I hope they have precedence) at camp willing to spend the most points earned through LS activities.
This also means not bidding on other items for up to multiple-year periods to ensure you're holding placement for when it does drop.

With Warrior now as one of the most popular jobs on the server and Ridill as the end-all be-all weapon they all want to obtain, you best be ready to wait.

More feasible than before? Yes.
The only reason more and more Ridill's are being seen is pure statistical averages, the dragon's been being killed for a very long time now, and Ridill's will drop occasionally. Even an occasional drop multiplied over a multiple-year time frame will result in more swords on the server.

Adaman Hauberk (eight)
Black Belt (7)
Byakko's Haidate (6)
Dalmatica (6)
Divisor Ring (7)
Hauteclaire (9)
Kraken Club (7)
Novio Earring (10) I want to give this 100
Perseus's Harpe (eight)
Ridill (9)

Peace,
Shmed

Nothing personal, but I think folks are missing the point of Rappa's poll (or at least how I'm interpetting it). It's not a matter of whether theses items are useful, it's a matter of how special, prestigious, rare, etc. the item is and how much it makes you stick out.

I guess one problem with this type of poll is a matter of perspective. If you're fairly new to endgame, you'll probably thinking sky gear is great and some of it is. But it's not that special anymore.

For some of us older geezers we're just not impressed anymore. And I think a big thing that changes perspective is once you got the item. /cough Rhad giving the blurple suit a 6?!?!

Dalmatica - sucks, mostly showoff item, and it's not even that uncommon since it drops off 2 kings, not just 1.

because clearly, 5mp/tick without a bard or cor is totally horrible with dalm+af2 hat for RDM..

*rolls eyes*

you sir, are not very good at rating.

2) Usefulness in that item slot. This is probably what I would weigh the most. Having a super-rare item that's completely useless isn't exactly gonna raise your e-peen any. E-peen is all about cranking out those huge numbers as well as looking snazzy! When possible, keep in mind other alternatives to the piece in question and whether or not they are better.

Understood. But everything that is listed is useful in some way. Rappa suggested using rarity and usefullness as the criteria with a weight on usefulness no?

If we say all the items are useful then it's about rarity and what you can do to show off with it. (Big WS numbers, DOT, etc.) Eh w/e, it's poll and opinion. So everybody rate and I'll continue to think some folks are missing the point.

Cause I sure as hell don't get how Ridill doesn't get a 9 or 10 and how an Adaman Hauberk doesn't score higher. Or how a Hauteclaire gets a dumpster score from some folks. By the same logic of enimty lose, I guess a Koenig shield > Aegis?

I'll go back to FFXI old folks home and let you wiper snappers do whatever. It's a free forum.
