End-Game Item E-Peen Rating!

Except that people actually do have those items. /phail.
Even more /phail for not understanding what the word "currently" means. They were previously obtainable, but they're not anymore until everyone figures out the trick to killing AV and are therefore currently unobtainable.

So that fact that this very moment you can't get it makes it invalid? Hmm, in that case I suppose everything is unobtainable since I can't get it this very moment. It's in the game, it's not beta, they exist, they will become attainable again. Unlike the chances you'll ever leave my blist.

edit: It also doesn't invalidate the epeen already obtained by those with the drops.

Can we try to limit discussion to the actual items mentioned in the OP please? :( It's already a pain skimming through posts to calculate averages without people rating items that aren't a part of the contest or ranting about things that haven't been brought up for discussion yet.

If you look real hard, you'll see that I never agreed with not rating AV drops just because you can't get them until the trick is figured out. Saying everything is unobtainable because you can't get it in an instant is just stupid, and is completely different from no one being able to obtain the item. Yeah, they can be worth rating, but they're all going to be guaranteed 10's because of the rarity, so there's not much point in adding them, anyways.

Glad to see I'm still on your blist, you're pretty lonely on mine.

Shit, if thats valid. Anyone owning those moon phase wands beats anyone else out, since they were only obtainable in one event, and haven't been since. Fuck you AV, your shits worthless. Common garbage.

Wave Two:
Crimson Cuisses (6) move+% for certain jobs can do wonders
Defending Ring (8 ) 8 for me is maybe 10 for most
Hecatomb Cap (5) best ws piece for many jobs
Herald's Gaiters (6) move+% on blm opens up a lot of options
Ice Gauntlets (3) whatever.
Koenig Cuirass (4) phased out mostly, still nice for blood tanking. looks nice.
Novia Earring (5) stacking enmity- is pretty nice.
Sha'ir Manteel (3) there are comparable alternatives for free
Speed Belt (5) sonic belt+1 omggggg that'd be a 10!
Vivian Ring (3)the only thing the alternative is missing is +1 int and +1 mnd... you could use both, but there's no real lack of hp>mp gear.

I agree on your rating on Defending Ring, Rhaddy. It's certainly not very difficult to kill King Behemoth, you just have to deal with it's abyssmal drop rate.

What the heck I'll toss my two cents in!

Wave One:
Adaman Hauberk (7) Might not be as awe inspiring as it once was, but damn if you still don't double take most times you see it.
Black Belt (6) Again Time has made these slightly more common, but still the best sex mnk gets around their waist!
Byakko's Haidate (5) May be "common" nowadays, but that doesnt stop everyone from wanting a pair!
Dalmatica (7) Go big Green!
Divisor Ring (5) Pretty neat, but is worthless for 35 lvls, and are some pretty close alts.
Hauteclaire (7) If it had +enm I'd give it an 11, but since most big things pld get to play with end game end up being /nin'd It loses an easy 10. But hands downs one of the baddest looking swords around.
Kraken Club (5) Mostly a toy, but in the right hands is monsterous. Not as impossible to get one anymore. If lady luck is on your side hehe.
Novio Earring (6) Blam blam!
Perseus's Harpe (4) Looks cool, pain in the ass drop rate, but Xotol isn't exactly the hardest mob to kill.
Ridill (9) One of the Job changing pieces of equip

Wave Two:
Crimson Cuisses (5) Piece I've wanted longest in this game. May be written off as standard nowadays, but still no question some of the most useful pants in the game.
Defending Ring (10) Doesn't get much more sex then this. imho.
Hecatomb Cap (5) The One Beret to rule them all!
Herald's Gaiters (5) the mage equal to w.legs. Fast mages is always nice.
Ice Gauntlets (3) Ummm kinda neat, maybe higher if ice spikes proc decent.
Koenig Cuirass (8 ) Again might be more "common" these days, but still a piece you spot a mile away.
Novia Earring (6) Mages with less less hate = longer life span = gewd!
Sha'ir Manteel (3) Never got aboard the manteel bus. Nice if you love to merit.
Speed Belt (6) Zoom zoom.
Vivian Ring (5) Solely for rarity

Adaman Hauberk - 10 - Best piece for slot and only one place to get it.
Black Belt - 6 - Best piece for slot, but easily obtained these days.
Byakko's Haidate - 1 - Super piece, but when RMT has them, you know they're easy.
Dalmatica - 7 - I'm no mage, but they look cool and surely has it's use. Especially paired with a certain chappeu.
Divisor Ring - 8 - Awesome item, but not hard enough to get.
Hauteclaire - 9 - Not as useful as it would have been before everyone went pld/nin, but with the droprate of that darn nm, it get's higher.
Kraken Club - 1 to 10 - All depends on who's weilding one.
Novio Earring - 9 - Not to well informed on droprate, but I haven't seen many and it's one sweet earring.
Perseus's Harpe - 9 - Droprate is a freakin' joke and it's a great dagger.
Ridill - 5 - Too common and not really "all that" outside of merit PT's. Although alot more useful now that you can have 20 combat merits.

Crimson Cuisses - 3? - Some shells get them by the hundreds, some get 1/100. But they're seen on even the gimpest rdm so...
Defending Ring - 10 - Horrible droprate and one of the best items ingame, aslong as you give it to the right person.
Hecatomb Cap - 4 - Great item, but not rare enough.
Herald's Gaiters - 8 - Pretty useful and not to easy to come by.
Ice Gauntlets - 7 - Rare, but not useful enough.
Koenig Cuirass - 6 - I'd give this a 10, since it's the item I've been wanting most since forever, even though it's not that useful. Hence the low score.
Novia Earring - 8 - Not as pimp as the Novio, but still a good and rare piece.
Sha'ir Manteel - 4 - Not rare anymore. Back in the days, with the subligar desynthing and all that though.
Speed Belt - 5 - Still not seen every day, but you can farm them without competing with 100 others. Not to mention I've seen multiple rmt with the r/e version.
Vivian Ring - 6 - Rare and pretty useful, still no "wow" item for me.

Crimson Cuisses (7)
Defending Ring (9)
Hecatomb Cap (5)
Herald's Gaiters (7)
Ice Gauntlets (4)
Koenig Cuirass (9)
Novia Earring (7)
Sha'ir Manteel (5)
Speed Belt (6)
Vivian Ring (5)

Peace,
Shmed

Crimson is too easy, just a low drop rate off Kirin who was hard 3+ years ago. Defending ring is one of the best rings for PLD in game and is a very low drop rate of a multiple day respawn with probably only around a half dozen on our server alone. Heca cap can be purchased these days so the elite epeen appeal is diminished. Herald Gaiters is great for kiting, but not much to it and more common than most realize. Ice Gauntless, I don't think I know what they are. The level 50 PLD/WAR piece with a minor amount of STR from ??? items found in assaults? Koenig is a good piece, but most PLDs use other pieces for enmity and they often sub NIN anyways trying to avoid hits entirely rather than negate parts of damage.

Novia is rather boring. It offers nothing besides -enm and it doesn't appeal to me with so many other -enm options. Manteel materials are sold often. Speed belt. One word: Darth (It was a velocious belt, but same thing really). Vivian ring is nice. Outside of Serkets and Tamas, there isn't much better for MP options.

Adaman Hauberk (8) - hot for war. looks good too, imo. except on garka.

Black Belt (8) - game breaking piece for monk. doesnt matter if its more common these days or not, imo.

Byakko's Haidate (3) - just everyone wants it..

Dalmatica (8) - although more common, it is a very large enhancement for RDM/BRD.

Divisor Ring (5) - neat ring but level restricts its worth to me.

Hauteclaire (7) - looks sweet, not too common, but i like other sword options more.

Kraken Club (2) - fun item, but its melee and dot suck. ive blown away wars with kraken on my monk consistently.

Novio Earring (8) - hot hot hot. still pretty rare. love takes awhile to kill and farm items for.

Perseus's Harpe (4) - looks cool but mainly just dealing with mobs drop rate.

Ridill (9) - game breaking for war. pretty rare drop rate.

Wave Two:
Crimson Cuisses (5) - something i want for rdm, but never got. pretty useful for kited fights, but not much is kited anymore. really just good for getting to places faster like lolaery. also good for long walks on the beach.

Defending Ring (10) - ringsex.

Hecatomb Cap (3) - common to me.

Herald's Gaiters (7)
- amazing for whm/blm/smn to get places quicker, but important for healing, kiting after nukes, and getting out of the way.

Ice Gauntlets (3) - er... okay

Koenig Cuirass (6) - sorta common, but nice for diff times.

Novia Earring (8) - 8 for dropping from love and fairly rare-- also hot for -enmity which allows you to use other gear in other slots.

Sha'ir Manteel (5) - definitely not rare anymore, but stats are nice for merits.

Speed Belt (7) - for rarity. sonic belt where?

Vivian Ring (7) - serket with int/mnd, thats hot.

Wave Two:
Crimson Cuisses (3) Kirin, movement speed, not that rare but there never seems to be enough for everyone.
Defending Ring (10) very rare, amazingly good
Hecatomb Cap (4) best ws head piece, not all that rare
Herald's Gaiters (8 ) Tiamat, movement speed for mages, still rare
Ice Gauntlets (0) not much point to this item
Koenig Cuirass (5) best defense body armor but limited use due to /nin
Novia Earring (7)JoL, best -enmity earring, pretty rare but not much demand for it.
Sha'ir Manteel (4) situational, common in batalia downs, no longer that expensive
Speed Belt (6) best haste belt still somewhat rare (no one has sash and sonic is pointless)
Vivian Ring (7) very rare and best mp ring.

edit: It also doesn't invalidate the epeen already obtained by those with the drops.

If they were currently obtainable, it also wouldn't give as much e-peen as having one that isn't obtainable, now would it?

Also, I thought they took back all the AV drops from the people who got it from before?

Edit:

Wave Two:
Crimson Cuisses (4)
Defending Ring (8 )
Hecatomb Cap (4)
Herald's Gaiters (7 )
Ice Gauntlets (2) gave this a 2 just for the fact it's a great ballista piece for 60 caps
Koenig Cuirass (5)
Novia Earring (7)
Sha'ir Manteel (4)
Speed Belt (6)
Vivian Ring (8 )

Well, depends on what you consider difficult.

Time and Money sinks aren't difficult, which a lot of people usually use to refer to when talking about how hard it is to upgrade a relic weapon.

Getting the fragment is the hardest part of the quest, really. Attestation second, mostly due to (likely) having to fight multiple times until your specific one drops.

Everything else can literally be completed with having only stepped in to Dynamis once, virtually solo.

Aren't all the items time sinks? None of them are very difficult to get, it just takes a lot of time for you to get the claim or the drop. You're talking apples and oranges here.

A relic weapon takes time to get a LS thats good enough to kill fragment mob and attestation mob and actually run the dynamis areas in question enough to get the opportunity to get the drop.

I've been trying to get my attestation since Nov/Dec 2006 now and haven't got the drop. Now it's possible that I would of got it if my LS ran Beaucedine 2-4 times a month trying to get test every time but for maybe all but 1 LS that doesn't seem feasible either because of lack of members or zone conflicts with other linkshells.

As for the list:

Adaman Hauberk (7)
Black Belt ( 8 )
Byakko's Haidate (5)
Dalmatica (6)
Divisor Ring (5)
Hauteclaire (7)
Kraken Club (3)
Novio Earring (7)
Perseus's Harpe (6)
Ridill (9)

Crimson Cuisses (4)
Defending Ring (9)
Hecatomb Cap (3)
Herald's Gaiters (5)
Ice Gauntlets (3)
Koenig Cuirass (7)
Novia Earring ( 8 )
Sha'ir Manteel (3)
Speed Belt ( 8 )
Vivian Ring ( 8 )

Wave Two:

Crimson Cuisses (3)
Kirin's not a challenge anymore, but great for kiting, running about, and elemental resist setups. Everybody that can use them would love to have them, but they aren't going to be that useful in event situations. And there's something very negative e-peenish about being able to run away quickly.
Defending Ring (10)
Nothing else in the slot can do what a defending ring does. Plus it's rare.
Hecatomb Cap (3)
Sure a pain to get in regards to the drop/camp/claim but only used as WS piece.
Herald's Gaiters (6 )
Rare and gives mages the ability to run around, but not exactly game breaking. Like crimson cuisses in regards that if you can use them you want them.
Ice Gauntlets (2)
Rare in regards to drops and useful for the early lvls, but ultimately going to be replaced for another item like Homam hands.
Koenig Cuirass (5)
Becoming more common and is really become situational. That being said, it has swap in appeal when shadows go down and probably going to get hit. It looks nice and definately stands out too.
Novia Earring (??? 6)
It's rare, and it's got enmity down, but mages have been doing w/o it long before it's introduction. It'll let BLMs nuke a little harder, or WHMs to cure more w/o hate, but not sure it's that big a difference. So, I'm really unsure the practicality.
Sha'ir Manteel (5)
Still fairly rare and expensive but really more of a good merit piece.
Speed Belt (6)
Best haste belt and rare but has no other beneficial stats
Vivian Ring (6)
Rare, but really it's a serket ring with mnd+ int+. So, it could be used in RDM vert setups, WHM full time, or BRD maybe. In all cases, it's a rarer equivalent of a serket ring. More than likely it would be swap out on RDM for a +5 MND or INT ring on casts, and WHM and BRD isn't going to benefit that much from +1 MND and +1 INT.

Crimson Cuisses: Less common than haidate, though with less purpose. However, anything requiring kiting with a pld really becomes 100x easier when the pld has these. Not game-breaking and not many things kited these days outside of various versions of King Behemoth, but they are still nice.

Defending Ring: Super-rare, super-sexy. Really not much to say.

Hecatomb Cap: Nothing comes close to this for WSing headgear. Moderately rare though not overly so.

Herald's Gaiters: Starting to lose rarity a bit but these can still make or break your linkshell in the mad rush to claim a mob, plus it allows for interesting strategies involving mages kiting or just keeping up with someone else like a kiting tank. Plus you can drop them and get 100 goldsmithing.

Ice Gauntlets: These are getting a rather COLD reception (LOLGETIT?!), thought they would do a bit better, at least due to the rarity and the interesting uses a pld can get out of them. Probably would rank higher if plds couldn't use Homam gear. Oh well, hopefully wave three's surprise item will do better, and yeah I already have one in mind.

Koenig Cuirass: Not much to say here really. The piece kinda speaks for itself stat-wise but there are nicer alternatives.

Novia Earring: Still quite rare, and pretty nice for a mage to macro on after burning whatever mp their earrings give them. So many great mage earring options though kinda bumps this down.

Sha'ir Manteel: Not so much rare anymore really, but the stats are really sexy and so is the actual item (on a female character!) so it's very easily recognizable. CAN be replaced with the "free" yigit body, but the other stats in addition to the casting down time on the manteel make it far superior.

Speed Belt: Would be a 10 if Swift Belt didn't exist. Can't justify giving it a 10 with that other option so much more readily available (even if the droprate sucks on swift belt if you're a mithra named Rappa).

Vivian Ring: Quite stupidly rare and coupled with a Serket Ring the absolute most +mp you can get in the ring slot. The rarity and the sheer "My mp is better than yours" power this thing possesses justifies the 9 rating to me.

Agreed. I'm not saying they aren't difficult, but that if you consider currency the difficult part, you're a pretty big moron. It's suprising how many people do. Attestation and Fragments are the difficulty, everything else can be done at your own liesure, completely alone.

You guys are underestimating the power of move+% in terms of redefining things you can do solo or nms you can take down low man.

Did anyone just get what Rappa said? NYUK NYUK NYUK.

Again, commenting on the Mage items.

Herald's Gaiters ( 8 ) - It's definitely the pinnacle mage item to get. +Move is helpful, but it's usefulness ultimately depends on how the person uses the +move.
Novia Earring (5) - -enmity is bleh, but it's still quite rare.
Vivian Ring (7) - I can't really comment on it. I wouldn't use it, but it's a nice piece to look it on a non-taru who might need the MP.
