http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/01/how-to-tease-the-imminent-announcement-of-a-new-japanese-rpg/

Step 1: Launch a maddeningly unhelpful teaser website

If there's one thing that generates more anticipation than a new game announcement, it's the announcement of a forthcoming new game announcement. Though it may draw some opprobrium from know-it-all blogs (who will write about your tease even whilst bemoaning it), a teaser website is the ideal catalyst for heated speculation. Be miserly with your information, but be sure to cover some basics: Mention the developer (eg. tri-Ace), the targeted platforms (eg. Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3) and, of course, whether or not the RPG in question is new (see: www.newrpg.jp) or old (see: Square Enix).

Step 2: Initiate a countdown

What good is anticipation if it's not represented through a visual countdown? Modern web technology accomodates a wide range of temporal measurements for your countdown, allowing you to mark the agonizing wait with as much precision as you prefer. If your game's reveal is around the corner, why not opt for days? Of course, you can also resort to counting down the years if your project is a little early or Final Fantasy XIII. Protip: Make the most of your countdown before it's down for the count by counting down to another countdown!

Step 3: Toss fans a fricken bone

Your unflappable fans deserve something special for visiting your teaser page. Now, be careful, you don't want to give the whole thing away! Why not titillate with a piece of art from your RPG? Go with something ambigious and comforting, like a ruined fantasy landscape or a team of pointy-haired adventurers battling a recently unsealed ancient evil.

Next week: How to promote Famitsu review scores, which will be much higher than anyone else's!

In any case, as you probably have guessed, Tri-Ace are making a PS3/360 RPG.

In any case though. April 10th. That's when the big announcement is.

End of Eternity Announced:

Tri-Ace’s first multi-platform RPG has been revealed as End of Eternity in the latest Famitsu. Get tons of scans on Wii@Everyday.

The game, to release for PS3 and 360 this winter, is currently an arbitrary 65 percent complete, and features 17 year-old mercenary Zefa, 26 year-old ex-solider Vashron and 19 year-old woman Test Subject No. 20.

And guess who's publishing this game?

Spoiler:
Surprisingly it's SEGA. O_o

Loads of new screens (even some battle shots), a teaser, and a Winter 2009 Japan release date posted today. Looks cool. Hopefully they wont ruin the game in translation and make us listen to horrible English voice actin' like we've pained through in past Tri-Ace games.

If they can get a cast like they did for Valkryia Chronicles then we have nothing to worry about. Btw, End of Eternity is planned as a series.

No, even Valkyria Chronicles VA's sucked. They were not Star Ocean 4 or as bad as most animes but as much as I love that game, if I had to listen to it in English, I'd have sold it and my PS3 long ago.

Yeah, the game is suppose to span 10 years. In Final Fantasy terms that's like 3-4 titles, in Tri-Ace terms, we might see damn near 9-10 games. Here's to hopin' they don't ruin it with piddly shit and over use.

Then I'm probably one of the few who prefered the dub of VC over the original Japanese cast.

Not really surprised at that considerin' you seem to enjoy dubs over subs for some odd reason.

Lets not bring the Dub vs. Sub argument up in a gaming forum. That's just silly. It's all opinion anyway.

Now look what you gone and did. Not only did you stir up a beast that wasn't commin' and state somethin' we already know, but you went and made a terrible comment to boot. Anime carries the only basis for a sub/dub chat? You must be joking.

Let it rest. It's all a matter of opinion no matter what topic you're talking about. It's silly. I could go on by wondering why you felt you needed to respond to my post instead of letting the argument die. I only posted what I did, lest some other person start going "NO WAI SUB R TEH BESTEST EVAR!! DUBS R DUMB!" That was a touch of sarcasm, you see what I did there?

Dubs are always superior to subs.

Hey, all would have been well had you just kept your mouth shut (not literally) to begin with. You did this (which is why I pointed it out), now enjoy it or get lost. Now, had I tried to tell Gerry he was wrong about his opinion (which would be stupid), you'd have a base, but as is I think I'll inquire as to how you're enjoyin' that quicksand you're in.

Hmm looks really interesting. I dunno how I feel about all the guns though. Guns just seem out of place to me, in a rpg, at least when they are the main weapons for everyone.

But I admit it does look like it could be fun. Seems like it's a rpg with a slight 3rd person shooter mix to it? All the gun firing sounds the same though, that's probably the only thing that would start to bug me. That constant rata-tat-tat over and over again durring battles.

Guess well have to see how it turns out.

I like to step away from the sword and polearm RPGs from time to time. So I'm pretty up about this game right now. Plus, considerin' SEGA is on board, instead of SE oddly enough, I'm also wonderin' if they can repeat a process, though they aren't the devs, of a Valkyria Chronicles experience to another genre.

Also, with SEGA on board, it's more likely, for those of us who prefer, to get some original voice tracks left in the game instead of the SE answer to everything they've done for the 360 which tends to be, "no roomz! surry." I'll be damned if I want to endure another shitty cast of VA's in what could be an awesome game, if you could stomach the talking.

A demo version of this game is now available over the Japanese PSN and XBL. It's pretty damn cool.

The demo was fun, though hopefully there will be more to the gameplay then just jumping over enemies and shooting them over and over. Admittedly, I don't speak japanese so I might've missed the finer points of the game mechanics, but all I got was run in a line so that you match up with your team mates and you'll kick (shoot) the shit out of everything.

Well, as should be expected, this demo isn't exactly going to show everything, so we'll have to see what the full game has to offer when it's released. I'll give my impressions of it when I import it from Japan.
