English class?

Ok, So i'm basically going to just say it. Who the FUCK cares if someone spells or uses a damn word wrong?Honestly do you assholes(people who don't respond to the thread just bash on people for grammer and spelling) just sit around and wait for a damn thread to pop up with bad grammer and spelling.Honestly do you get off to it?It's not helping the person or QCDN.org.If people read it oviously they'll see the mistakes, you don't need to go out and bash them even more. It's just down right rude. This game is based around having fun and escape life. Than people have to come in here and be treated like their in fucking english class? No!Seriously, just leave the fucking people alone.Who cares if i spell no when its suppose to mean know,Or write there when it's suppose to mean their? It's not a fucking big deal. This crap has pissed me off to long and I know their are other people out there.

It's qcdn not fucking english class.
And yes maybe if you can barly read it, it would be ok.
It "chat" talk EVERYONE does it from time to time.
So please lay off you asshole out there who think its cool to bash people about this crap.

P.S. now this thread will show who the real assholes are on qcdn.:rtfm:
Quit blaming anyone other than yourself because you slept through grade school.
If you present yourself in a manner that makes you look like an illiterate moron who doesn't even try to speak the language, many people will treat you like one.

It's an automatic fail in my book, as nearly 100% of people who fail to attempt to communicate will also fail to attempt to actually play FFXI properly as well.

That's not true. Hellstorm gets crapped on for his spelling, and he is a really good player.

/begin rant
/end rant

Everything between the begin and end, I was beaten to saying.

...except I'd say perhaps a less articulate fashion, because I'm a lazy man.

My incredible good-looks make me a snot.

>.<;

My command over the English language isn't terrible either.

Mmk, karaoke anyone?

Yeah i can go for there instead of their. Tbh most kids over 13 should know the difference but it's not really a big deal, i know what you meant. But walls of text, stupid abbreviations (I mean seriously is spelling you or know that hard? You only drop 2 fucking extra letters), and mr no punctuation all are incredibly annoying.

I mean i myself freely admit i'm far from perfect i imagine if any of the people here with excellent english were so enclined they could rip my posts to shreds with errors i have made. But they don't because while my posts are not perfect, they are generally pretty easy to understand.

I find generally though the whole picking at grammar and spelling mistakes is the last resort for someone losing a flame badly lol.

For the most part I'm considering people with second language exempt from this, as many will have errors through little fault of their own. These people also will tend to speak English better than some people for whom it is a first language, as they actually attempt to communicate and get a point across.

Those are the people for whom there is no excuse. Yeah, everyone makes mistakes, and some people don't have English as a primary language, but when you're staring at a wall of text, or some idiotic non-words from someone who should know better, there's absolutely no good reason for it. You can often tell this because of the manner of typos, or speech patterns someone may incorrectly try to follow, it's a fairly good indication of this sometimes.

Long story short, it's just dumb, and it changes the tone of a statement not from formal to informal, but from reasonable and intelligent to lazy and idiotic. Yes, there are exceptions, but that's not the subject of this post at all.

Also, I should add that the majority of the reason Hellstorm gets "crapped on" isn't for his spelling, but the content of his posts.

There are indeed correlations between being to retarded to communicate correctly and being too retarded to work well with 5 (or more) other people in a party. I mean communication does play a big part in parties.

On a sidenote i've spoken to many people on forum and ingame who i wouldn't even have guessed have english as a second language because their english is so good. I mean many of them have better english than i do (hold the jokes/insults please :P).

Spelling, on a forum, is really only an issue if people are unable to decipher the intent of the content within the post.

Mind you, being incredibly old and ancient... I had to stop and think what on earth "tbh" meant. Qft !

Get Firefox with the spell check. It checks everything for you!

If you portray yourself as a moron, people think you are a moron. Many will call you a moron due to the anonymity of the internet, I'll just skip your post. If you portray yourself as a 12 year old through your grammar, I assume that your thoughts are on the level of a 12 year old. I won't bash you for it, but I don't give a crap what you're saying if you type like that.

I dismiss alot of ways some people type...rather, if I see a huge wall of text and I feel a headache coming on, I just skip the post entirely. =/

A lot of people demand at least a half-legible/grammatically correct post because once it hits a certain mark of [lacking] quality, it becomes easy to misinterpret and then once that happens then communication starts to break down - someone misinterprets, the person tries to explain themselves better, and then you're left trying to figure out if they're telling the truth or just trying to save face. It all becomes an unnecessary hassle on anyone involved.

It can be really frustrating, and although many people have a very good excuse (i.e. English isn't their first language), it ironically is mostly coming from people who speak English as their PRIMARY that talk like total ogres. ^^; All the same, I wouldn't make too much of a deal over illegible typing, but then again I just personally skip the post entirely when that's the case.

I agree with Valandil's post :P though I have to add.. English sucks! Apparently "ain't" is in the dictionary now? And the words like "can't" are written as "cannot" instead of "can not"? That's dumb to me too.. might as well make "won't" allowable for "willnot" or "don't" to be written as "donot" :\ stupid ass language.

Spelling is very important in everything you do. In Ex: you don't want a woman to make fun of you because of a bad spelled love letter you gave her. English is my 2nd language and I write it perfectly, there is no reason why everyone here shouldn't.

But, bashing someone for having fun while writing is not good.

If you want people to read what you type, respect your arguments flames and opinions in general, use spelling. Grammar is important to a much lesser extent, however it IS the structure of the language and grammar keeps things coherant. This may not be english class, but they teach it to you IN english class so when you leave the classroom you can go around not looking like a retard.

I believe cannot refers to be being unable to, whereas "can not" refers to being able not to.
Their usage is slightly different, and...incredibly confusing. Something like that...
