No doubt it's been a topic on the flameboard before, but I couldn't find it. Can anyone enlighten me as to why 90% of Japanese players won't party with foreigners? Is it because they think it's just rude to party with us since they can't speak our language? It's not like we treat them the same way. How many times do you see English speakers saying {Japanese}PT{No thanks.}?

Bleh.

/whineoff <_<

Let me guess, your invite to them was something along the lines of "<party> <do you need it?>" or "<experience points>?"

I won't accept most invites like that because they are somewhat rude, and those types of invites have been to crappy parties from my experience.

Try this when you try inviting someone with "JP only" in their search comment: "<Hello!> Would you like to join my party for <experience points>? [level range of current members] [jobs of current members in auto-translate]"

It shows respect, shows that you know what you're doing as a party leader, and lets them know what kind of party they are being invited to.

Read the bg topic.
Some jp are just asshats (the other JP dont even like them).
Some are rascist.
Some beleive that jp are superior.
Some dislike our style of getting 20kexp per hour and think that the 4k per hour they get must be superior.

Yeah that too but when a jp is seeking in jptime what are the chances of finding more than 1 NA seeking?
And conversely if you're the only jp around out of 40 NA seeking do you really think you're gonna find a jponly party?

Probably this.

No. I try to be as polite as possible when asking anyone to party, regardless of their language. I just think it's rude on their part when, sometimes, they don't even respond to a polite /tell because we're not Japanese. Then next you see they're out in their own party.

Played this game far too long and... JP will turn you down if you ask them, but they ask me to party through my BRD i laugh at them and say NA ONRY! both sides can play their stupid game.

Yeah this pisses me off too. Got JP shot down trying to form a pty for my BLU which never materialized, needed a tank. So I decided to just stay logged in on BRD and went to bed. Got 13 tells overnight.

I leveled my Bard to 75 almost exclusively in JP primetime, and I got turned down for not speaking Japanese about once every other exp session. I've become very proficient in the auto-translate function, and it's made both my experience better as well as theirs. I've gotten a lot of mileage out of putting <tab key> <master> in my /seacom. ;)

Honestly, I believe that they don't want to have to say things twice, or try to translate things to non-japanese speakers (which may turn into saying something 4 or 5 times). If I had to do the same thing for Spanish speakers, I might feel the same way if I was having a day didn't want to deal with the hassle.

It shouldnt be as hard to communicate with JP as its a made out to be. Isnt it mandatory to take english lessons in school over there?

Mandatory yes but still its basic basic English.
They still are not proficient in the language as expected.
I went to high school in Japan and not many were able to carry on a decent conversation in English.

I don't think alot of people actually play with a dictionary by their side. I have a feeling that alot of the JP players are around more younger compared to the NA player base.

Their logic is that if you can't type in japanese, they can't communicate with you properly. Even if you type in romaji some JPs don't take you seriously. They think its English lol.

I had a few japanese friends a long while back, and the majority of the time, I was told they disliked having full American parties, solely because they get bored because they can't speak English well. Kinda like when I'd party in a full JP party, I'd get bored because I couldn't speak Japanese. Of course, there are other reasons too, as all people are different, but that seemed to be part of the general consensus when I would ask.

Really though, if it bugs you enough, just skip over the person who refuses to answer to a North American player. Just because they demand respect, doesn't mean they are above showing any either. If you ask someone to party, and they don't respond, as I mentioned, just move on.

try this next time:

>>JP Herrrroooo!!! I would rearry rike to party wit you. Prease join!
JP>> JP onry reave now sirry NA!

They've done studies you know 60% of the time it works everytime!
