I have the pre-order already and plan on playing both til I just get tired of one or the other.

Anyway, who plans on playing EQ2?

/em turns on the smoking lamp.

Mo..

I'll be leaving FFXI for EQ2... It just looks so good. Plus most of the nice and helpful people have quit the game because of the assholes and ones who put xp and gear before their friends. I haven't preordered it yet but I'm plannin on doing it within the next couple of days if I can convince my parents on making it my early bday present... along with an xbox hopefully
Are you getting the CD or DVD version? Or the big box set  ?

If the Collector's Edition is available I will get it although it's not that big a deal for me.

It is Shipping Nov.8th so should be in stores shortly there after.

Pre-order may not be available at this point but it won't hurt to check.

I hope to be able to purchase it in DVD format but again if not available in my area I will make due.

Word up,

Mo..

This is really starting to sound like an old record.
Expect to see more and more of that kind of behavior as the "console-generation" enters the MMO playing field.

This isn't meant to be a flame, but it's reality that those old school MMOers who have grown up with UO and EQ, are being replaced by people who have grown up on consoles and just entered the MMO market within the last year or two (XBOX Live, FFXI for PS2).

Of course there are pricks in either camp, but those who have been playing MMOs for a long time tend to be less "selfish" for the most part.

True dat Sculli!!

This same trend will develop over time in EQ2 or any other MMO for that matter.

Gotta learn to deal with it or your gaming experience can be miserable.

Remember there are almost 5000 players on at peak hours thats a lot of choices to choose from.

Nothing says you have to get along with everyone just play with the ones you get along with.

This isn't Utopia by any means so Deal with it.

Mo...

On a side note: When I played UO I was greatly hated for being part of a very successful PK Guild.

I noticed an increase of people trying to be my friend because of the threat and the old addage: Can't beat em join em.

Just looked at the screenshots on http://everquest2.station.sony.com, and my main thought is...

<Ugly Chararacter Designs><Do you need it?>

<No thanks.>

And that's a shame, because the environments are frigging gorgeous, easily on a par or surpassing FFXI.

Who knows, maybe I'll pick it up someday. That or World of Warcraft.

That's the main reason I'm conflicted between EQ2 and WoW, Tyrion.

I can't tell if World of Warcraft's graphics are sucky or just cartoonish. I need to see it in motion more and in the resolution it would actually be if I was playing it(most downloadable vids I've seen weren't great looking.)

EQ2 seems like it has superb graphics, but I'm having trouble finding any races that actually look cool. Most of the characters I've seen look like they are partially deformed or something.

So then that brings me to gameplay and story. From what I've read of the WoW beta boards and such, it seems like Blizzard isn't very clear on how exactly they want it to play, and I worry as to whether or not the actual game world will be very immersive.

EQ2, on the other hand, seems very intent on pulling the player INTO the world and making them a part of the story.

Lol, not sure if any of that makes sense. Please forgive my incomprehensible rambling :P

I have EQ2 on preorder as well. Gona get my RDM to 75 before i sel.. quit game.

I'm pretty sure that I will be playing EQ2. I won't erase my FFXI character though... unless once I get through the free month of EQ2 I am in love with the game. I just can't justify the time sink that two MMORPG's would cause. I will also try out WoW open-beta just to see how I like it. My problem with WoW is that during the stress test I heard that people reached lvl 12 in a couple hours and that a power gamer could hit the level cap in a week. Now that just seems too fast. Also my understanding is that there is really no need to interact with others as it is a completely soloable game. The inclusion of a PvP server does intrigue me but I hear the classes are not very balanced and the restrictions of it being soley Alliance vs. Horde isn't putting a smile on my face. I'm not a hardcore PvP'er but I just like to be able to kill the spammers or claim jumpers when it does occur. The inclusion of PvP tends to make for a slightly more curtious community in some regaurds. We shall see.

If I do take the EQ2 plunge I plan on being a Kerra Monk or Bruiser
