/equip users beware...

Yikes.. and I was going to make some /equipt macros when I hit lvl 60 and started to use my thf sub a bit more.. for dex rings before a SaTa, and switch back to snipers afterwards. But now.. i may just have to do it manually or just forget about it. I sure as hell wouldnt want anything expensive to be lost like that.
 
Damnable bugs! I've lost around 110 Beastmen's Seals from some sort of glitch. They just disappeared from my mog house. 50 one time, 60 the other. I know this doesn't have anything to do with /equip macro's, and I'm sorry for the off-topic reply; but reading that got me pissed about it all over again. ><

Well, I had heard about losing items in MH, and during AH transactions, but this /equip crap is news to me, I think the possibility of it actually happening to you is slim, but still...

I macro my AF and RSE body in my Convert macro, and I would really hate to see my pimp coat go away, but that’s the only real item I would be pissed off if I lost it, well that and my staves, but they can be easily replaced with some farming, AF cannot.

But should I really have to make plans on how to replace an item because of a glitch? Please say no.

I didnt mean to post this to scare anyone, I just thought it needed to be brought to attention.

I have never lost any items due to a glitch, ever.

I really don't believe this... it's never happened to me or anyone I know. I call hax.
 
I switch my offensive and defensive gear constantly... never even heard of this bug.
Though, yes, it does make me a bit paranoid. I'm swapping some fairly high-value items....
 
Every single macro I have as a rdm has a gear swap and I never experienced this sort of problem from 68~75. I also swap Str and Acc items as well as chakra macro with gears so I doubt this problem is common. Eighther having a bad luck or like someone stated, a glitch in the game.
 
OMG

i use a macro to swap out my 2 snipper's ring for something with vit+ for when setting up a SATA or when i draw too much aggro.

My best bet is that they just logged out wrong (which the game highly recommends you don't do..)
 
I know that you can apparently loose items in the mail as well..... like boots....

Edit: Just red the post on alla..... so, can anyone tell me again what GM are for? Redirect to tech support? Pull people out of the water? Look cool in their armor? Or maybe just .... you know.... be there....
 
AF can be replaced, check mysterytour to know how (it costs 10k to take on the quest/coffer again)
 
Hmmm... I have been using the macro for awhile... It sounds like it CAN happen but very rarely, about the same odds as me droping dead from a heartatack or something, possibale but I can not stop using the macro.

I might be wrong... but I'm pretty sure DEX does nothing to SATA with a THF sub.

If I lose any equipment while swapping my SATA/TP gear, I'm going to fly to SE and fight them. The whole company at once. I will get my ass royally kicked but it's the principle.

that'd be my guess. i went a little more than halfway down the page and most people that thought they had the same kinds of problems were mostly just dc'ing without the server getting to save their progress. even the first post could be explained that way, had the bst dc'd sometime before he went to use his equip change macros. as i understand it, the server periodically saves your character as you keep in touch with the server, and of course when you log out. a poor connection and/or frequent dc's or whatever can make certain things erase; i've heard of that before, and it's believable.
also, a lot of people seem to be trying to put too much into their macros in that post. too much without a /wait will cause the macro to screw up, and give messages like 'cannot equip gear.' i used to use a macro for ele seal, a few equip changes, sleep, and a line out to party chat, and there wasn't room for the wait, so i left it out. it screwed up one too many times and now i just use seperate macros for all of it haha

though unrelated, i once had my macros erased on the client side before i found out about character screen backup thing.
 
As BLM I switch from MP gear to Int Gear every single fight.

Never lost an item.

Sounds like BS to me.

Agreed~ A major thing to back up the "data lost from improper logout" - many, many people I've seen complain of their macros being erased. This is probably the same circumstance, however much rarer it is.
 
Well, macros are saved entirely on your system, and since it doesn't save all the time (apparently it usually only saves when you log out), if the game crashes you can lose any changes you made to your macros recently.

Equipment is a different matter. All your equipment is saved on the server. Unfortunately, all items are simply data files, and computer glitches make it possible for data to be erased accidently.

What SE -should- do is keep backup records of character data. They should probably have a backup made every few days, if not every day. If something like this happens and someone complains about losing an item, they can examine the logs to make sure they had the item in question and that they didn't give it away to someone. If SE determines that it is a glitch, and checks to make sure that player had that item, they can give that item to the player again.

I'm pretty sure it does. SE specifically made dex have an effect on sneak attack in a patch that was released shortly after the game came out in NA, and never said "only for thf main". :)
