So I just got back from seeing Eragon. I'm not really a happy camper right now and want to see what some other people thought of it after you go see it. All I have to say right now is if you read and loved the book, um... go in with an open mind maybe? Idk, just post your thoughts I guess.

For those who haven't read the book and want to see it, by all means, go for it, it's not a bad movie.

I read the book, and just watching the trailer left me utterly disgusted and out of hope <.<

Can it be any worse of an implementation than Doom was? I still cry at how un-Doomy that movie was.

I would really like to sit down for lunch with Mr. Bartkowiak, shake his hand, order a beer. Make him feel comfortable. Then I'd stand up, drop my drawers, plant my buttocks firmly over his nose, and unleash some Taco Bell fury all over his weeping face. He really f_cked that movie up.

I just got the book...I dunno if I should read first or watch first ><

Read the book and don't ever go see the movie 0.0 j/k I would read the book first. I think if you saw the movie first it would ruin some of the suprises you would enjoy more if you were reading them from the book.

Bottom line is this... some of the MOST important things in the book were just carelessly strewn about in the movie, sometimes the movie didn't even follow the order of events as in the book, and even worse, somethings that happened one way in the book happened completely different in the movie. And the characters were shallow, no development at all. I think this movie was trown together cause they knew it would bring an audience in, especially the young adults.

I guess since it says it's "based" on the book and not a direct screenplay I can't say anything. I donno, I was just dissapointed.

Review of it I heard was like : It's like in fantasy movie you ever see. It's like LotR, with dragons, or Star Wars, with dragons.

I won't see it anyway, the previews look terrible.

Go see the new David Lynch movie instead, Inland Empire, Im sure it is going to explode brains.

I was going to see it, but after reading this I'll probably opt for the Pursiut of Happiness, I hear Will Smith is amazing in it.

I'm getting the book for Christmas (I hope, if not I'm buying it myself the day after) since I've been interested in the series for a while.

I didn't even know there was a book, but from the preview it looked pretty badass.
My general experience with movies based off books - they fucking suck. Creative liberty ruins everything. Look at any and all movies based off comic books, if you never read the comics they're pretty cool, but if you have then you wind up being really pissed cause they didn't follow the comic book at all. Same with regular books.
My advice - see the movie first, then read the book, cause it'll only get better. OR, read the book first, never ever watch the movie.

Not really. There are so many interpretations of the story in comic books (espically from Marvel and DC) that I just view the movies as another revisioning. Can't get anal about these things.

THEY MOTHER FUCKING BUTCHERED THE DAMN THING!!!

Sorry... Just came back from it, They left out characters, skipped an entire fucking city, and in gernal just messed up the storyline, They got the Varden City completly wrong, Where was the Giant Ruby at the top of the Volcano!? /sigh

The movie it self was good though, even though they did butcher it in transfer from book to movie, it was still well made, and if you hadn't read the book before, you wouldn't have noticed a thing. I stilled liked it and i'm going to go see it agian to pick at it some more.

Edit: Something this reminds me of, is the transfer from Manga to Anime -_-

I just watched the movie and I had read the books before and they left a hell of a lot out of the movie. Now I know that they can not have everything in the movie. But how the hell did he go from getting his ass wooped with a stick to killing the shade with a sword. I mean come on they could had put a little more in to the movie they left out large parts of the movie that would have held it together.

Where's Tom Bombadil? Old Man Willow? The freakin' Barrow wights?

Oops. Wrong fantasy adaptation.

I haven't read Eragon, but I was looking forward to seeing the movie because I like dragons in general. The reviewers have not been kind to it. At least two of them have said something along the lines of "The only thing missing from this Star Wars ripoff is Chewbacca."

XD lol Hali :P ya.. I missed Tom Bombadil, the shire being attacked and the whatnot.. so fun

but on topic, it did look amusing for a movie. Never read the book, maybe I'll pick it up.

I read the book then watched the movie. Pretty disappointing >.>

I always thought of Murtagh as some basch type badass character. He was lame in the movie D:

They're in the 6 hours of film they couldnt make for the movie, because if they'd stuck to the exact book, it'd have been either three 8 hour movies, or 12 movies.

Altho Tom Bombadil should've been in there ; ;

Spoilers in mine, don't read if you don't want to.

I saw it last week, never read the book but I was disappointed. Even without reading the book I could see they left out things from the glaring plot holes they had in the movie.

There was instantaneous character development that was just annoying as hell. One day Jeremy Irons(forget his character) was telling Eragorn that "in time, he'll be able to learn his strength with magic" and that "if not prepared properly, he'll get knocked out or killed by using magic." The very next day(or within a ridiculously short period of time) Eragorn is throwing around spells like he's been doing it for years. That's the kind of thing that I found stupid about the movie, the whole movie took place in a week or two and he just instantly goes through years of development.

The girl who Eragorn sees in his visions and falls in love with loves him for no reason at all; I was just waiting for her to say "thanks for saving me, want to fuck?"

Also, I did not like their rendition of the dragon's wings. The rest of the dragon looked good, but giving it bird's wings was an odd choice that I didn't care for; I would have preferred it if they had stuck with the more traditional bat-like wings.

Plot was meh, characters were artificial, special effects were cool; not something I want to see again.
