Erase, is it worth farming for?

Ok guys I want to know some input. I have seen the scroll, Erase in AH for 300 K to 400 K. I have been debateing if its worth farming for or should I worry about other spells or gear. Some have told me it is a luxary so I have not worried a great deal about it. But after leveling some I find a few people asking for it when they get slow casted on them by monsters. I cast Haste on them but what gets me is they ask for Erase. Is it really worth having. I may farm for this at a later date but I just want to know what everyone thinks. My goal is too get WHM to lvl 60 soon then I am going to take another break from leveling it.

When I plated ballista erase did help out alot but that was proballt because they were all lvl 75 ><

You don't 'need' it at lower lvs, but it helps out a lot. Higher lvs, I don't know if it is required or not.

Its only worth doing the BCNM for, unless you dont mind shelling out 300k for it. I'll prolly end up getting it form the BCNM, unless i get a couple more empy pins.

I'm not sure what level Erase is off the top of my head, and I could be wrong, but judging from what I've heard from some really good players, one should definitely have Erase by level 50 or so. But yeah, expensive as it is, you'd probably be better off doing BCNMs for it. Even if it doesn't drop, you could get a lot of money selling other drops from it. ^^

Erase is a level 32 spell and you should get it as soon as possible.

Thanks for the info. I will consider my options. And Kahlaan it is a lvl 32 spell but it has a high price tag so I doubt everyone will try to farm for it when they are a lvl 32 whm. Don't forget farming is a slow process for WHMs. BCNM 40 is an option I may take if people let me keep the spell. I hear people like to sell everything that drops then split the money. So I dunno how that will go.

Anyway this may be a good stoping place for me as WHM. When COP comes out I am sure Square will add more teleport spells and other stuff that the job requires. I have thought this through and want to try other jobs. So thanks everyone for the votes and I willl see you in game. Peace.

Lol Kahlaan just doesnt want the Whm community to look bad. I have seen few WHM with erase at 45 or so. I guess it isnt required but why would they put it in there with such a high price tag if it didnt serve a purpose. Might as well get it, if only to be a better whm. A thief doesnt need Emperor Hairpin, but you feel better having one and will be a better one for it as well, not extremely better, but just a tad bit here and there can add up.

Those who have erase are eighther have nother job leveled or the whm was a sub of a high level character, such as blm or rdm. Erase really comes into play around level 60+, where a single stat down can bring a disaster.

Erase's drop rate will varie. Sometimes can be 5 in a row, sometimes it won't drop after 8 fights. Since Erase is the only spell that can remove those stat down spells or ws, its costy. Not many whm pre 60 has erase with them. This is true if Whm is their main. Whm farming is really hard till they get to 67. Where their ws can deal massive damage.

For those people who got your spell around 32, congratulations. But it is no good to force people to have erase at 32 or even pre 60s. 300k is a big bunch of money. As of me, till 60s its a spell which I categorise as "its a good spell to have, not a must" post 60 is "Its quite a necesity spell". Spells such as evation down, accuracy down are a killer around this level. Then again, not that you are fighting against mobs who are ultra hard to kill. Its a cycle of Crawler, Beetle, Crab, Cockatrice. They don't have much nasty AoE or status anomaly Ws that requires Erase.

Thanks Shia. This is the information I was looking for. I never saw a need for it through my level 40s - 50s so I never bothered. Now it seems people demand you to have it and if you do not then some get really rude about it. If I ever plan to level WHM past level 60 then I will do whatever I can to get this scroll. I noticed some whms that get Erase get a little too happy with the spell so they can show off and burn their mana pool even more during XP runs...

WHM casts Erase on Bard, Bard's Agility Down effect disappears!
WHM casts Erase on Dragoon, Dragoon's Int Down effect disappears!
WHM casts Erase on RDM, RDM's Agi Down effect disappears!
WHM casts Erase on WHM, WHM's Str Down effect disappears!

I finally got Erase a couple days ago. It is pretty handy. I went to level and still seen no need for it yet but at least I feel better having it.
