Have you partied with Ethar? How was it? Annoying? Normal?

If you don't know Ethar please don't comment saying "I don't know Ethar." But you should know him and BEWARE! Never let him borrow some Gil or item from you.

Why this?
Well, Ethar is simply one of these persons that everytime you see around is doing something stupid or annoying, although sometimes there is a point for some people in which are annoyed just to see him.
I know SO MANY people that hate him, and I have heard many things about him and his actions.
You simply can't be his friend because some day you will find out he either used you or doesn't consider you a real friend.
This is a player that for the good and peace of many players, should leave FFXI and never come back, or pay for a brain surgery to see if someone can fix his brain.
Maybe he is not a bad player in parties, but is the worst person I have evermet in this game.

Ran into him yesterday, as we were xping in Quicksands. He was looking for a coffer key for SAM AF (I assume, at least) and asked if we'd consider giving him the key if we saw one dropped. He also had his friend Wackygamer helping him hunt keys as well. After they accidentally trained onto our group because Wackygamer got silenced (I know, real stupid, a RDM going to effectively solo these mobs and NOT bringing echo drops- have you never fought ants before?) there was a bit of discussion in our group about how we should give them any keys just so they don't screw up our xp again, lol.

Maybe 2 fights later a key drops. There was a brief discussion about whether we should give it up, mostly spurred by Yomi who made the "he's an ass who always shouts in Jeuno" argument. But I felt that AF is enough of a PITA, we don't need to be jerks about it, so we allianced him in so he could lot the key.

So, I guess I have a neutral story. He was just some dude I ran into, who we did a favor for. And not a huge favor either- noone needed the key except for maps, which aren't too big a deal, and the alliance was just a brief moment between chains, didn't even throw off our rythym much.

So yeah, that's my story- nothing there of interest. Perhaps you would care to elaborate on why so many of the people you know hate him? I mean, just coming in and saying "OMG I HATE THIS GUY, DON'T YOU?" isn't very good fodder for the Flameboard, don't you think?
 
This person is a true doush bag refused showed up to an LS mates party as a WAR/NIN dual wealding daggers..... and refused to switch till he had capped the skill no matter how many times people almost died cuz he couls not hold hate! he changed his tune when I brought a smithy up next to him and used sleep 2 let it beat on me till it lost hate from him running by to go pull all the time and when he got agroed and got a bomb thrown at him right off the bat, and no one would raise him only then did he switch to axes :roll: fucking doush just one exsperiance I had with that fucktard
 
The dude has a major reputation for "borrowing" gil and never returning it. That's all I know about him.
 
He was on my blist from a logn time ago... I just can not remember from where, all I know whenever I see him a warning bell goes off.
 
I partied with him a few times when levling my whm, he seemed nice enough, a bit arrogant but nothing majorly wrong with him as far as exp pts goes.

However Sometime last june or july I needed to buy a pirate gun (back when they were like 40k and rarely on sale at AH) for a friend. I did shouts in jeuno for who had enough skill to make one. I get a tell from him, and I tell him I'll buy materials, he makes it, then I'll pay the rest (to match AH price) while trading for the actual gun. (so I was risking 17k worth of materials, if he was really crafting he'd of made like 23k ). He tells me to pay him in full upfront because he's been ripped off making a pirate's gun that same morning by a guy going back on the deal. I ask him if he could just give me that gun he made, he said no, he was sooo pissed he sold it to NPC (as opposed to the AH for alot more, and I certainly would of most likely of been the one to buy off AH had he put it up).

Anyways his story was much to extremely fishy, I said nvm and tried to get a gun from someone else. So personally I'd never trust him with gil at all, but in exp pts he's not a bad guy.


(Ironically within 2 months of this people realized that pirate guns were 23k proift each and oversynthed them and prices dropped alot :roll: and my friend couldn't even afford bullets for her new gun =P )
 
This guy is just a scammer really... He might be alright in parties, but outside of anything that doesn't benefit him he will try a find a way to use you all. The Ethar guy though has been a few jobs and I wonder if he changes as his rep gets smashed for complete sucking. About 2 months ago he played PLD and tried to train scorps on people in the Crawlers Nest. I think now he plays SAM for some reason but I'm sure he will give that up soon enough too.
 
He plays SAM because by some miracle he got full AF done on that, he has retired his main, Ranger, until he gets his AF Jerkin completed, at which point he will return to his ranger.

Either way, he's a horrible party leader, but does very well as a member when he doesn't have to recruit anyone. His outside personality, though, is horrible, he's a arrogant fag.
 
When I first got to know him he asked to borrow my Lu Shang Rod, before I knew he was a thief... glad I didn't let him... not like I let anyone ever borrow anything from em anyways.
 
This guy /slap my brother everytime he sees him, and just because some day Ethar was /slap a woman in Jeuno all the time. My brother was angry because of that, since it was a woman who was being bothered. So my brother aid: "Stop slapping woman, you mofo. You cant stop annoying people? Man, grow up."
Then Ethar startedinsulting him, my brother insulting back, etc. For like 10 minutes in Jeuno was trouble...
Now this is a problem that started when my brother and I had just 1 or 2 months playing and we were still a bit noobs, and Ethar borrowed 5k from my brother saying he was "so broke and I promise I will pay you the triple of that when I sell my shit in the AH! Plzzz! Plzzz!" But Ethar never did and always evading my brother so he would not have to pay... <.<
My brother was very angry and he would not stop until he had his money back and so after 1 month of insisting my brother did it :P Ethar, beaten, and with no other choice because he was tired of my brother insisting to him in tells, gave 7k back. Not the triple it was promised, 15k, but 7k is ok, and from that moment they are enemies, my brother blisted him, but after 2 months my brother removed him rom the black list thinking that everything would be in peace now.
But crap! This guy would not stop annoying everyone around, so arrogant he is. And we heard a lot of bad things from him too. I think I had a bad experience with this guy too, but it was back long ago so I dont remember why it was. Strangel I can remember this because it was our first problem with another player. From that day we learned to not trust anyone so easily, because my brother was always too generous and he being noob and poor, tried to help with gil to other players that were even more noob.
So this is part of our tale.

If he's really that bad, I can't stand up for him. Anyways, I dont' really know him. He got invited by someone. If he makes trouble in the LS, we'll have a chat.
 
True, maybe w won't do anything bad in the LS.Just wait and if he does something that is wrong, then you take your desicion ^^

I just warn to people about this person but do not do anything quickly. Better wait to see it by yourself, right? :)
 
True...I had to remove 2 of my old members from my LS because both them were always arguing and about to destroy my LS... It was hard but I know it was the best.
So I hope things will go alright with yours ^^
 
Ethar.....ugh...this guy is an asshat if i ever saw one.

I was in a pt with Ecks in CN, well, more like on the way there, and all i heard as i rode my choco there was this guy bitching. Most of it didn't even make sense. Ecks and I were just talking through tells, usually something like "God Ethar is suck a prick" or "This guy really is an asshole, we should disband."

After completely screwing over the pt (he pulled multiple times while other people were, he wasn't the puller) Ecks and I had to leave for IRL crap. Thank god i didn't actually make it to CN before i had to experience this moron first hand. I wouldn't reccommend ptying with Ethar at all, he doesn't know what he's doing half the time, won't listen, and does nothing but bitch.
 
when he first started, i gave him a linkpearl....what a mistake,.....i booted him very soon
