Yeah the guy that wrote that was a fucking moron. You can make more money in Eve by doing missions than mining, and trade routes are for the people that have no idea about productivity and consumables. Personally I've researched over 50 BPOs to maximum proficiency, 5 of which were ships, and my corp has done well over 300, and that's only since january of this year.
Trade routes to us are non existant, because all of our hauling is done with minerals that we buy, trade, mine on our own to our manufacturing station. Then after we build our ships customers come to us because we offer Megathrons and haulers at a fair price, in safe space.
Corp espianage does happen though, but my corp will never have that problem because you can't get access in it unless you are from pittsburgh and you can go over to the CEO's house and drink with us. Plus why even take credit in things such as that when either 1 of 2 things are happening. 1) you are fucking over someone in a video game. Where is the glory in that? and 2) While you might have to be somewhat smart in real life to start and run a corporation, in Eve all you need is a fews days training the skills.
So you cheated someone on the internet, congratulations, I'm sure your 28 girlfriends are very impressed.
Eve is a fun game though and that story is probably some fat nerds glory days. More power to him though, he won.
