Edit: I want to give credit to Touchstone who is in the process fo figuring this out alongside me in Bastok.

Basically the towns are possessed, you have to help an exorcist find out how to excorcise the ghosts. Grab a costume(trade a sweet to a costumed NPC) and follow behind the ghosts as they walk around talking. If you get too close though, then they will notice that you're not really a monster and remove your costume. The one I talked too eventually said they knew i was following them, and didn't talk again, so I went to the NPC and got this:

For those of you with a windower and the distance plugin, you need to be 10.0 to not get noticed as not being a monster, but around that range to listen to them talk. I'd usually run around 8.0 or so, then when they stopped and would demask you, I'd run back out of range. And no, I don't want to hear more shit about how distance is cheating, keep this thread to the event.

After getting my hat, the guy is telling me to rest, so I'm guessing you can only do one each game day, as per usual. I'll try to update this when I find out more. There were two ghosts in the zone, and the exorcist recommended that I follow the dumber one, which I did. I'll bet when I do the next leg of this event that I'll have to tail the smarter one and that will be more annoying.

Just finished with the second ghost and got this:

now to find out how to trigger the latent. Both hats took about 5-10 minutes each and can be done with 2 sweets total, not including waiting for the day change.

There are also 3 furnishings, I'm not sure how to get those, but I'll work on it.

You buy the furnishings from the vendor Moogles with the hats on, for me in Windurst Waters, when I had the witch hat equipped, they offered the mandragora lantern for 10,000, along with the 1k jack o lanterns. With the Coven hat equipped, they offered the other 2, bomb and pumpkin lanterns for 10,000g, as well as the mandragora lantern and jack o lanterns.

Here's the list for other nations of vendor moogles.

Thanks, I've been running all over bastok looking for more quest npc's to get those.
 
The latent trigger for HP always seems to be on. I'll need people to experiment with this, but Touchstone tells me the latent for mp is being in a party with 2+ mages.
 
HP latent isnt always on for me, on RDM main I get the MP latent, melee or mage sub, I tried it on WHM and BLM main and it gives me the HP latent instead of the MP.
 
Nice lol. Are you sure you need to be a set distance too? I followed on the ass of the ghost in Sandy and didnt have any problems.

Odd, the jobs that got the MP latent for me were thf, brd, nin and drg; although all but brd stopped giving mp when I changed to war sub from blm. I couldn't test pup, cor or blu, since they were all level 1, but this is just an odd latent.

Apparently they have to see you within a certain range, if you just follow and manage to turn and remain behind them for the whole route, you're fine. I just found it easier to keep my distance with all of the other people in the way.

So anyone find out if they old event ( getting two costumes under the decorations ) is the same as last year, or the same costumes. Also is it the pitch fork still or something new?

There are 2 special ghosts that you have to follow, both are translucent and have actual names besides "Trick monster." You follow behind them and they will talk while walking and when they stop. You stop and go talk to the event npc when the ghost tells you to stop following them. For Bastok, Shella(first ghost, that's close to he name) says "I know you've been shadowing me, stop following me," or something to that effect. The second ghost just said to go talk to the exorcist, because he was ready to go.

it's actually a little story in itself; the ghosts are recounting their lives as they walk, and at least the two bastok ghosts tied into each other. I found it fairly interesting, I might check out the other cities' ghosts as well.
 
Suko said he got pitchfork with Elvaanand Skelly i think. One stood at fountain in bastok one stood by hp. I cant confirm this tho cuz i hvnt done it yet.

Idk, it looks like Even level jobs give the MP latent, and odd level jobs give the HP latent, maybe your other jobs when you changed to war sub didn't have any base mp to give the mp+3%, and you had some MP+ gear on BRD previously.

No, I have 40 mp from mp merits and everything but sam was naked besides the hat. I think you're right about the odd/even levels thing, those are the only even jobs that I have leveled.
