They're forcing you, now, to post anything that would have once gone in "General Discussion" in "Anything FFXI." I mean, literally FORCING you. They'll actually lock your thread.
Of course, nobody seems eager to answer the question regarding what the point now is for the "Off-Topic" forum. If we can't talk FFXI in General Discussion, that would transform General Discussion into "Off-Topic."

I still can't believe this doesn't bother more people. The admin did a half-assed job and made a mess with no reason or explanation given, yet people just shrug it off and say it's fine, or worse yet, better. And he hasn't got the time to fix what he broke, but he's got plenty of time to read and lock threads complaining about this mess? Why don't more people give a damn about the state of the forums they post on?

Its more like handing people bowls of your shit saying "It was a nice steak before I ate it, but thats all thats left. If you're hungry, that will be your only option. Enjoy!"
Best part is some people just aren't seeing it. Was there a problem with the format before? Or has QCDN suddenly adopted the practice of rearraging the whole site at the request of a few people. If so, count how many people have complained and the people who asked for the original change. Which force is larger?
It's not steak anymore, don't try to pass it off like it still is.

Ok so... since no one has actually given a detailed answer, here's the deal.
While QCDN is (or... maybe should be?) Primarally a forums for FFXI players, the fact is many of our users are not FFXI players anymore. They hang around to see what people are up to, and b/c they are bored... And the fact that they no longer play the game doesn't make them an invalid member of this community. And while they often give input in regards to FFXI, their involvement in the game is obviously limited and probably less intriguing than other topics they may wish to discuss.
Apparently there was a thread requesting a bunch of new forums which would be dedicated to such topics... (i didn't read it but could link here if you all want) And well, between Blabj and Reeve, the new boards were made. Since that time, Reeve hasn't had an oppertunity to refine the new additions... but that doesn't mean he won't (i hope).
I've suggested that all the FFXI related forums be grouped together, under a big category of FFXI... and that they be listed at the top... For, while i think this site now extends beyond FFXI, FFXI debate/information exchange/etc should still its primary function.
I agree that Gen Discussion should be left in FFXI- I think that Off Topic should remain the "GD" of other stuff, but perhaps have subforums added to it so that it is easier to read. the different consoles should be consoldated... perhaps Consoles of today, and next gen (including XB360) having their own boards would be ok, but splitting beyond that is silly.
rather than simply say what you don't like about these changes, you should suggest solutions to the problems you see with them. I've already listed these possible changes to reeve before, perhaps you can think of mroe for him to consider.
Note that the main thing Reeve is concerned about is that GD often gets so many new threads a day that often times new threads (1+ day(s) old usually, but sometimes same day even...) will get pushed to page 2 long before they should be. I hope this at least helps you all understand the reasoning behind his move... That said, the organization is abysmal, and should be changed asap.
