When I first heard about excalibur soon after dynamis was added, I knew I had to get it. So I started as soon as I started doing dynamis Nov 04, Buying all the coins for 5k a piece, and plenty of them in random bazzars, camped outside zones of LSs doing runs and buy them up. At the time there was vary few Jp and no NAs (to my knowlage) that was upgrading.
I thought was it took 4 Silvers for first upgrade, 16 bynes for second, and last 2 were free other then items. at 800 bynes I learn I was wrong, but went on making gil anyway.
Soon after finished second upgrade, other NAs started to upgrade. and LS unfortunaly desided to split the coins, made me mad, but got the small amout I could, and mined day after day in ifrits. Once prices hit 30k+ a piece, I stoped buying, and just saved gil. Was rediculus. Eventuly I used alchamy to make gil, a few HQ cursed items, and a few tons of bullets. (ok, so I made many a millions off of pups thse early days.) And mining Mount Z for millions a day.
I say I didn't buy more then 2000-3000 coins total from dynamis shells (at discount price). The rest at Bazzars, and the many people who sold to me for less then bazzar prices to help me.
I ended up with all my coins needed without attest of glory nor holy fragment. And in fact went nearly a year before I finnaly got attest. 1/9 I finnaly went, which made me go crazy. As many times in that year I thought about selling the coins and forgetting it. Only the obligation to my friends who expected me to finish let me fight on.
Many thanks goes to my old shells Loveless and Umli, and Limitless who helped me finnaly get attestation and fragment. And many others who sold me coins and traded with me.
Thats my story in 200 words, I could have added more, but not like anyone cares that much. A ton of hard work for a sword that cuts metal.
Is it worth upgrading? Don't have ancer to that yet.
Tested excalibur some, but from what I'v seens, its vary nice. 400 added effect at full hps, 88-110 on easy pray, 200 or so on 2.5 damage mod, had 811 damage on Khmora 13 (mission), I'v had added effect not go off in a while, and seen it go off 3 times in a row. Its also unresistable expt mobs like slimes that have natual -physical damage.
That 322 damage cost me 80*3 damage ; ;
Oh, I'l finnaly not feal gimp when I melee as RDM!
