Expanding Besieged?

Ok, my thought on this is that each area has their own designated beastmen.

Quadavs to Bastok
Yagudo to Windurst
Orcss to Sand'Oria

So, what if SE could create something like a Besieged/Dynamis combo.

The certain beastmen attack a city, and all players are GIVEN THE CHOICE of participating or not. Then they are taken to an identical version of they city so that other players can continue playing if they selected no.

Now just like besieged, the Quadav, Yagudo or Orcs, (depending on where you are) begin the attack.

There could be prisoners that can get taken to Beaduex, Ghelseba or Giddeus just like besieged, and the generals would be the nation specialty:

Legionnaire (Bastok)
Royal Knight (Sandy)
....whatever the hell the taru have... (Windurst).

Similar to Dynamis in that it is a replication of the city for people to participate in. This is so others can play as normal. (Until the AH manager gets kidnapped or something).

Think of it like the opening movie where the Orcs attack Tavnazia.

Just a little thought since not everyone will want to travel to Aht Urghan everytime they want to do a Besieged.

As far as Jeuno? I dont know really. Maybe thats a bit too far. Or have all 3 race of beastmen attack or something.

It makes absolutely no sense for this to happen. Except maybe the Orcs attacking San d'Oria.

There's a truce between Windurst and the Yagudo, for them to attack windurst, the entire rank missions would have to be rewritten. It's just not feasable.

If you want to do besieged, you go do besieged. If you don't feel like fighting Byakko but want Byakko's Haidate, that's too damn bad. Just how everything else in Final Fantasy works.

Not necissarily, there could be a prerequisite to have a certain rank or something, just to keep this from happening. Just like how SMN can aquire Diabolos until they beat the CoP mission "Darkness Named".

It could be a sort of "beginners besieged" seeing as the one in Aht Urghan attracts alot of high level players.

Not to mention the fact that the vast majority of people in the 3 starting nations are lower level players so they'd get annihilated or the mobs would be so weak a 75 blm could solo the zone.

the problem is not a matter of choice. when 700+ people choose to participate in besieged out of 3500 people on the server at a given time, that's 20% of the population *choosing* to play besieged. how do you determine who gets to play? If you send all 700 people to the alternate besieged zone, you will still be lagged to hell.

SMN getting Diabolos didn't contradict the storyline, it was just something nobody seriously expected. What you suggest directly contradicts the storyline. Stop trying to argue it could happen, really.

Yeah, windy is on a sorta ceasefire with the yagudos... Although that doesn't stop be going to castle oztroja and kicking some feathery ass.

I think that, although this is a good idea, this is what garrisons are for. Sure it's only in sandy (west ronafaure) but it's generally the same idea I guess.

There's garrison at every outpost. It's just that nobody wants to think of strategies for the others, so they all do ronfaure.

also, making a separate dynamis like besiege zone defeats the purpose of besieged which is the random build up of the mobs coming to attack, not to become a scheduled event where you trade hour glasses.

again, if you make it a choice, 700 people are going to choose to be there at that alternate dynamis besiege zone. then you run into who gets to go in.

a better idea would be to have multiple zones besieged at the same time. Instead of just Al Zabhi, maybe include Nashmau, and maybe even Aht Urghan White Gate, so in effect, you have 3 zones being besieged at the same time. This way you spread out all the participants so they have to choose which zone they want to help protect. 700 people originally in 1 zone divided into 700 in 3 zones.. you've effectively cut down the population per zone to 1/3 of the original besiege zone

That sounds a lot more reasonable, but still doesn't quite work... There's no reason for the Undead Swarm to attack Nashmau, since the Astral whatsit is in Al Zhabi, and there's some storyline thing to do with why Aht Urghan has us adventurers defend it instead of using their massive standing army.

Again, it comes back to other besieged events being completely out of canon, without any reason, and generally just players not being happy with their free presents. Just be glad SE isn't [GM]Dave.

you must have not read any of the opening scenes of the toau mission or you not have even posted this. Not to mension the whole toau area is set to stage besige, Ie prisoners, mirrors, high lvl mobs. There are no high lvl mob near the starting city. so the short and sweet reply no no no.

If you look at the map, if I'm not mistaken (going by memory here), the Undead Swarm technically should travel through Nashmau to get to Al Zahbi, so it's reasonable for them to attack Nashmau on their way to besiege Al Zahbi, Maybe if they win they keep advancing towards Al Zahbi.
This is why, the first time I participated in besieged, I thought you had to travel to Nashmau because the Undead swarm was advancing.

Also it would make sense for the mobs to attack Aht Urghan Whitegate, if I were an army I'd be attacking the city from any point of entry to get to the Astral whatsit. Now you effectively have 3 besiege zones going on at the same time with some sort of story line,

Not to be rude or anything, but why do you post 10-5000 topics per day on seemingly random ideas? (see: Shaidalyn)

Of course, I say this in a purely amusing manner, no ire intended ^^. Just slightly amused.

If you look at the map, and more importantly, look at the undead swarm, you'll see that they live (nonlive?) in Arrapago Reef. They don't need to go through Nashmau, they just set sail directly from their reef (or swim, or whatever they do) for Al Zhabi. The only strange part is how they do come through all of Wajaom Woodlands to get to Al Zhabi.

Right by the #1, they could dock their ships somewhere near there and take all of 5 minutes to advance through the Woods, instead of their usual 20.

plus se being cheap it easyer to program 1 zone to do besige then do 3.

Wouldnt this ruin the whole idea of the expansion? It would be retarded IMO to do this because that was one of the focal points of ToAU...

Everybody, including myself, is crying about besieged lag. Yea, i was pissed when i couldnt log in the other night for 30 minutes while it went on, buuuut im over it...and you should be too.

From what I can tell, Alerith is a compulsive poster. Every single idea that pops into his head, he needs to post on the forums for all to see, and be annoyed by. Generally a compulsive poster posts before putting any thought whatsoever into his idea, which is why people tend to yell at them for going against all the laws of the game, the storyline, Vin Deisel, and otherwise.

yes, it is hellstorm. however, it doesn't mean the beastmen only *have to* go straight for al Zahbi to get to the astral al'ziltar thingy. You could effectively attack aht urghan whitegate on your way there, as with nashmau.

You've made my point mai, what exactly do they do to get to Wajaom Woodlands? Look at this overview map.

It would make sense for them to travel like us RL players, Reef -> Nashmau -> Boat -> Attack Al Zahbi. So in effect, they can besiege Nashmau on their way to Al Zahbi. It would make more sense than to go towards Wajaom Woodlands, they are effectly making a half circle to Al Zahbi.

So in effect what you're saying is that the ferry to Aht Urghan would just let the undead on board? The undead would have their own docks in the Reef, not use a human one.

*edit* btw, cleaner map:
