"Expanding" Endgame Linkshells

Fury just keeps getting bigger and bigger >_0;

but yes what are the names of the shells that force members?

I dunno about forcing, that does seem a bit over doing it, but I think its uneffective that a hnm shells member base cannot come to camp because their members are busy doing dynamis, limbus, assault or something like that with other shells. Sure people have issues with times and cannot make their LS's dynamis or limbus, etc.

"Oh shit we can't do this event cuz our WHMs are in dyna, kay lets do it tomorrow. Negative then our tanks have dyna that day." That is just a loose example, but I can imagine the stress that hnm shell leaders may have to deal with because they don't have some members on this day and other members on that day.

I belive Purpose ran into this issue and in the end tried to incorporate all events inside its main shell.

Forcing does seem a bit harsh, but personally I think its best to do events like dynamis with your own shell to better it further, not juse gear wise but it is also a great LS intergity builder as well.

Kaizens (Limitless) actually did not fund a brd horn Meastoso bought all those shells I know because I sold about 5 100c worth to him. None the less Limitles would never fund a relic for any member unless of course your name is Kisada or maybe even Nasya. LOL

check your PMs, your misinformed.

Well, something you have to remember is it's really easy for endgame shells to get bored for a while. For example, let's say we have a Endgame shell leader named Billy, and his subsequent shell "Billyshell". Now, in it's youth, Billyshell was a solely sky shell, and Billyshell members were happy. They got to get sky gears, and monies, and all sorts of fancy things. But then, most of the dedicated members got everything they wanted, and only kept coming to sky because they were dedicated. So, Billy expands the shell to Sea and HNM to get those dedicated members new loots. And everyone is happy. Except for the not-quiet-as-dedicated members who dont have everything from sky yet, or see no benefit to going to sea/HNM. So, Billy makes these other events manditory for sky, to get everyone involved, so the non-core members can get thier sky gear, and the core members get thier HNM stuffs. Everyone wins right? Except then the non-core members start getting miffed because they didn't sign on for HNMs, and the core-members quickly grow weary of thier bullshit/not having enough folk at HNMs. This, of course, wears down on Billy who becomes addicted to crack cocane. And then, in a coke induced frenzy, Billy developes an unhealthy obsession with Rose McGowan and starts stalking her. Several restraining order violations later, and Billy is spending the next 3-5 years getting the sanctity of his asshole violated on a regular basis.

The moral of the story: Don't expand your sky shell unless you enjoy being carnally violated in the poop shute.

lmao (letters)

Note to self: start and expand sky shell.

I 100% agree w/ OP on this on. We've lost so many Dynamis people in the last few weeks due to Endagme Shells turning Dynamis. Some were critical players too.

I understand the first dedication to the Endgame shell, but c'mon leaders, you gotta realize, your raping other Dynamis shells by turning Sky/HNM shells into Dynamis shells on top of that. IF your going to do that, start the shell that way, not wait for a bunch of people to join, who have other obligations to another Dynamis shell, and make it manditory for them to run Dynamis w/ you just to recieve Sky points or w/e.

Most of the time the endgame lses don't MAKE their members join. Instead they make it impossible for them NOT to join, as long as they want to actually acquire gear from the shell. For example, they will consider dynamis an end-game event and make it for points, which basically means you either show up or you're out like 6-10 points a week and basically never get anything because the other members get more points than you do. I think that's kind of a dick thing to do unless it was part of an original agreement that the members agreed to upon entering the shell, but every shell's different and well, what does the end-game shell care about all of the other shells losing valued members due to their greed, amirite?

lol, so what, an end game shell is supposed to not expand to dynamis because all the other shells out there will lose members? Gimme a break. Thats like saying end game shells shouldn't camp HNMs because they'll be taking away gear from other shells. And honestly, dynamis gear overall has been as good as HNM loot. 227 af2 and half way to an Aegis in 22 runs/11 weeks...Dragon's Aery doesn't even come close, and that potetialy takes up even more time.

You would be silly not to do dynamis eventually, if you have the manpower to.

I never said that. Feel free to quote me where I did. I said it's dick to force your members to leave their old dynamis shells. Never said your ls shouldn't do it if they can. Kaizen's Limitless shell does amazingly well and they don't force their members to join in any way. They farm DLs for fun, lol. And don't say your ls doesn't force the members to do so. Your shell doesn't hold a gun to their head, but it certainly dangles a carrot in front of their faces and yanks it away until they comply.

Cause people totally fight HNMs in non-HNMlses. I remember the last time we had words, they were pretty much as ignorant as this time. :)

People are too whiney and selfish to run an "open" dynamis shell like PinCKs was. In our prime, when everyone was all about getting their stuff and kicking zone's asses, we rocked for the miscellaneous group we were. With 1-2 more rdm/drk who could handle their stun rotation business we may have actually taken DL down (we had him at 27% with 38 once) but unfortunately people bailed once they got what they wanted.

What allowed us to succeed to the level that we did was the fact that it was not mandatory for our end game unit to be a part of PinCKs. Separating the two and opening up recruitment to the general public not only gave us a strong member base, but helped us diplomatically in many end game arenas we encountered as CK via the friendships we established through PinCKs.

The breakup wasn't a surprise given the attitudes of most towards dynamis, but I'd run it again the same way if i were still playin FF today, with the exception being a few tweaks to our old loot system. Dynamis wasn't all that fun imo, but it was nice to have a "lenient" end game function for those softer players who weren't quite as hardcore as the rest of us wanted to be.

PS: We never finished our horn (stage 4) because his playtime all but disappeared. The remaining coins were supposed to be distributed to the next guy in line who was waiting to get the nod to upgrade his relic shield. Not sure if that ever happened though. My account is long gone, so if they weren't transferred over to him as I had asked, they're either deleted or someone else with my info snatched em up before the account died. Oh well.

Its fine to expand into other endgame areas if you have a strong group that actually enjoys doing the endgame sky/sea together, and need something new to do. But when members are basically told "you have to join our new roster for dynamis we just created" then its another story.

This is what has happened to a good portion of our dedicated members who showed up every run, helped us progress to where we are and also helped make our LS what it is. Its frustrating to not only have to fill a gap where friends and dependable players have left, but its also frustrating to see those friends feel bad about the situation because they have the desire to do dynamis with us... but because of the way things are, they are no longer able to.

Seeing as how we're one of the linkshells that expanded into Dynamis, I can give a bit of feedback.

When we made the decision to start an internal Dynamis shell, the reasons were that we could...
  • Provide our members a chance at some better gear (AF2).
  • Provide our members a chance to experience another aspect of endgame.
  • Make some progress towards a few relic upgrades.
  • Have some fun! :)

It should be noted that it was made abundantly clear to our members that they were in no way expected to leave their existing shells. It also was made clear that being a member of another Dynamis Shell wouldn't harm their standing within Fury. All we were trying to do is provide options to our members.

Sometimes that means we only run with 15-20 members. Sometimes that means we have to settle for farming instead of going for the win. Sometimes that means we cancel entirely due to RL obligations. All in all, we didn't do this to weaken the rest of the Quetz community or to place stress on our people. We just wanted to provide them the most complete endgame experience possible. If that's really such a bad thing, I apologize.

not to really self promote, but limitless is open recruiting (not kaizen only) and DL is farmed with as little as 32 people...

so i wouldnt say that pincks was the only one...

Never claimed to be the only :P Its obviously worked well for Limitless as seen by your accomplishments over the years.

There must be something beyond the surface if people are getting their stuff and leaving and a person in stage 4 of a relic horn just stops showing up. My current dynamis ls, Loldynamis has beaten DL 3times theres somewhere between 2-4 of us with 5 of 5 af2 and a bunch with 4 of 5 af2 and these people haven't left. We have 4 thfs with TH4 you'd think a THF would leave after he got his gloves. 2 of those THFS have no leadership role at all 1 being me and the other being DRQ. I can guarantee if I was getting a free BRD Horn I'd put up with anything to get that baby I'd even miss work. LOL Luckily I make my own work schedule so I don't have too but in a way I can kinda be on call so that can suck.

...Grats?

I'm just saying from what I heard you guys were a great shell. Just makes me wonder.

Meh, noone does dynamis for the points, 6 a week is not very much compared to overall point collection. Every person that was hesitant to leave their old shells for ours ended up leaving theirs because ours was better than their current shell, and not to brag, but usually by a substantial amount. But hey, I guess a ton of af2 drops and a fun time with your main shell is dangling a carrot. Although I'd prolly call it more of a prime rib. I'd like to know how we yank it away until they comply though, because Im not really sure what that even implys. Obviously any shell that has started a dynamis will try to get everyone in the main HNM shell to join, would be stupid not to, especially since we're a closed dynamis shell.

Also, to OP, who is this shell you keep talking about as well? Without a name it looks like you're just blowing smoke.

312 points a year isn't much? Um, k.

You realize that af2 drops are random right? You're bragging that you get a lot of drops? Every dynamis ls gets a lot of drops, lol. Put that e-peen away until you're farming DLs or clearing Dynamis-Tavnazia cause till then you guys aren't a big deal. :P

Covered above. An extra 312 points a year vs someone who doesn't? How much do your Ridills and Dalmys normally go far? 312 is a lot of points for bidding on stuff. Just admit you're just using that to yank people out of their other dynamis linkshells and move on. If the shoe were on the other foot, you'd probably understand, but since Pers always puts quantity over quality it's probably a foreign concept. Which one of your 4-6 pimped out members is getting your first relic anyway? You? Bjornar? Deltoid? Meikolia? Chronicles?
