So I was thinking of coming back just to level another job, but do I need to register WotG if my brother already registered WotG to my copy of the original FFXI? Would I have to buy WotG for my character or not if it's already registered to the game? When he got his laptop he used my FFXI discs including the first 3 expansions, and on install he didn't need any of the codes.

if he uses the same account as you then you won't need to register for WotG or any other expansion, but if you guys have seperate accounts your gonna need seperate codes, me and my lil bro have a copy each of the game and all expansions, it's the only way unfortunately.

He originally played on PS2 and was able to use my game on his PC with out having to use his own codes.

You only have to register the expansion to the *account* (that's the online registration code bit), once. Period. No matter where you install it or how many copies you install. Once is all you need. If, however, you have two accounts, then you'll need to buy a separate copy of the expansion for each account, so you have a registration code for each. (Either that or you'll just have to deal with one of the accounts not having the expansion.)

However, you do need a copy of the local client-side *software* in order to play. So you'll need POL, FFXI, RoZ, CoP, ToAU and WotG installation discs (or various Vana'diel Collection equivalents thereof) to do that. You could do something with torrents too, but I dunno the details about that. But it doesn't sound like you'd have too much trouble with that part, between yourself and your brother's collections of installation discs.

Oh, and have fun with the update once you get everything reinstalled.

At that point I'm better off buying the Vanadiel 2008 collection to have one or two DvDs instead of 8 discs. Or hope someone is nice enough to pass a code to me via PM. I just hope my character ID wasn't deleted.

it shouldn't be, i think...coz seeing from your sig your over level 50. A friend told me that they supposedly keep 50+ for a year and a bit...not sure on exact time...

I have 4 jobs over 50 so do they keep it for 4 years? lol The problem was on top of not having funding, our dad pays for it with his credit card but we give it back to him, and school I couldn't pay the bill. I have read how people came back with their character still in tact from not paying the bill.

yeah, i took breaks for 6 months+ and stuff and i still have Hitaru, you could always call POL and check to see if your chars still there?

Probably is if not I'll level war or SAM on my brother's account for him instead of coming back if it's not. Seriously screw the ZM missions, promies, and all of the stupid staging points.

i dunno, that stuff is fun depending on who you go with...can also be a headache XD but it all depends on friends and stuff willin to help ya

Eh, staging points are a matter of an evening. ZMs are a weekend at most. CoP is rather more of an undertaking, I admit. Personally if I had to start over, I'd miss my maps the most.

Then there are the genkais which can suck like the ones where you have to go to the bottom of Castle O and go all the way through Davoi. Beadeux was easy.

I'm only on the mission after you climb the mountain and fight the molboro so it's not like I'm far in CoP so that wouldn't be too terrible. The ZMs would just be an annoyance to deal with. Not to forget I still have a KSNM99 orb.

romp, just go call em now and be like can you tell me if my galka (i presume) character named " " is still there?

It probably is I'm just musing the idea right now. I'm off tuesday and wed so I'll probably pick up Monday after school reinstall Tuesday. The expansion is only 29.99 correct?

$20 i think, can't remember i think the whole collection is 29.99

Eh, the only bad genkais are 1 (drop rates, and those have apparently been improved) and 5 (drop rates, plus solo fight of varying difficulty depending on job). 2 can be easily plowed through with a few friends, 3 just involves competence with sneak/invis and a slight bit of true sight dodging, 4 is painfully easy.

All in all, I'd be more annoyed at the time spent making gil again so your buyable gear is up to snuff (let alone impressively good), than at the time spent on the road blocks you're citing.

Yeah I just remember all the gear I'd like to have for Samurai or Warrior and went fuck.
