Since I couldn't find another forum to post my extremely ennoying little problem in, I decided to post it here.

Here's a little screenshot of my desktop

It's making me go crazy... It's probably extremely easy to fix, but I'm not really that good at computers -.-;

Sure is odd, is the left one the same as the right one?
Do you have the same issue when using IE?

Yeah, it's the same one.

And it's for all programs, even Final Fantasy XI <.<;

Are you running any desktop enhancers? What's that little 'a' icon in your task bar?

This is the first time I have ever seen something like this anywhere. The cause has to be some sort of 3rd party software that is screwing things up.

nope, no desktop enhancers. And that "a" icon is Avast! Antivirus, heh.

And that other thing is another... like, tab in the taskbar, which you can move around the task bar if you unlock it. You can't delete it though, and that's why it's so annoying >.<

I am totally at a loss.
Try this, righ-click on your task bar (anything odd in there?), proceed to the Toolbars section, all that should be in there is Quicklaunch, and maybe Windows Media Player. Any odd entries in there?

nope. That's why I'm at a loss too and hoped I would find any answers here <.<;

Uz, by any chance when you right click on the taskbar do you have "Show the Desktop" checkmarked? If you do uncheck it.

I'm still playing with mine, but hoping mebbe that'll do it.

Also, in that same area the top one is "Toolbars". Do you have "Desktop" checkmarked there? If so uncheckmark that.

All of them are unchecked =/

Okay, this may be a tad drastic, but do you have Windows XP? Mebbe do a sys restore to before you stated getting the crap?

One more thing before you try that. I'm seeing like a double thingy there. Do you have "Lock the taskbar" checked?

Yes, it's locked. I gave up trying to remove it, so I just locked it again and left it to be... heh. Here's some more images

The bottom one shows how it looks unlocked and extended

OMG!!! Okay Uz, I think I know what's doin' it. Right click on the taskbar. Go to Properties. On the taskbar tab do you have group similar icons checked? If so, uncheck it.

Just have checked: lock the taskbar, keep the taskbar on top of other windows, & show quick launch. Any others uncheck in that top section.

In the notification area you want both: show the clock, and hide inactive icons checked.

I know I've seen that before. If for some reason you have your setup already like that, I'd suggest just doin' a sys restore to before it started wiggin' out.

Let's not go overboard.
Sys restore may or may not be useful, depending on whether this is something that happened after a restore point was created.

Group similar icons in what I would call partially enabled in Uzor's pic, but not cause of the problem. It seems like there are two taskbars. The left one doesn't have group like icons enabled, the right one does.

This makes me wonder whether Uzor's desktop is set to display the desktop on two physical screens, but it's only being shown on one. I don't really have any other good explanation as to why there would be two taskbars.

That still doesn't work =/

Thing is, I did a sys restore last time it became like this, but a few days later the exact same thing happened again when I started my computer, that time I managed to delete that duplicate tab. Today it appeared again, and I can't delete it ; ; There has to be another way to fix it >.<

Thanks for all your help though

Uzor, can you click and hold that little divider?
Maybe drag it up into the desktop area and then just close it out?

That's how I managed to delete it last time =/ Won't let me do that now unfortunately =(

Maybe because the right taskbar is locked?
edit: I mean if those are indeed to physically different taskbars, then they would have seperate lock controls

-Right click the taskbar

-In the list go to toolbars

-You should see. the following

Address
Links
Desktok
Quick Launch
(Under the line you should see) New Tool bar...

If you have an option listed that does not match any of the above listed. Take out the checkmark.

If you look at my screenshots they're all unchecked :P
