OK, so last night our static was eggtting together after two failed attempts the previous nights. We were eager to get into CN, get some xp, and maybe, hopefully get a few molds ofr Genkai in the process. Since the static is currently 5 people, we had to look for a 6th. Somehow I got saddled with that last night, so I do a search.

Ooh, Barde seeking. "Get the Bard" my group is telling me. So, I send him a tell:

"Hello! We have a ready group of 5 heading to Crawlers Nest, like to join us?" Naturally he asks about the setup, and I tell him- WAR, DRK, BLM, RDM, WHM. He responds that he thinks we'd be better off with another DD. Thinking 'Another DD? WTH are the BLM and DRK?' I tell him we've done this setup with a BRD as the 6th before, and tore through Cockatrice in Onzozo like butter. His response? "I'd like to join you, but I've got a movie to watch, sorry." WHY THE FUCK WERE YOU SEEKING THEN?

So, five minutes later, after a few other tells to various seeking people went unresponded, another Bard comes online. I send him the same tell as the first. Again, I get asked about the setup. His response? "I dunno . . . why don't we go to Garliage?" I explain that 4 of us need mold for Genkai. "Well, I don't need items, I need xp . . . I've got 3 other offers already, but I'll join you if you can tell me why it'd be worth my while" I tell him that I can't make up his mind for him, and if he wants to join another group then to just do so. He's then all like "Well, I'll join your gropup if this one doesn't work out" Fuck that. I tell him bluntly, we'll have another 6th by then, so {Take care.}

What the fuck? Those two jerks together wasted a good 20 minutes of my groups time, time we could have been getting setup and xping already. If you don't want to xp with us, JUST FUCKING SAY SO. Don't dick around with me. I know that you guys can afford to be picky, being the rarest class in the game, but at least have the courtesy to just say "Sorry, got a better offer" instead of playing fucking mind games, trying to make me bow down to the whims of the Almighty Bard. Assholes.

Yeah, those were a couple of complete asshats. We got 4500xp an hour, and it wasn't going to be "worth a their while" Losers. Well, they fucking missed out, because we were on FIRE last night, no death, 2 levels for both you and Rappa, and our pick-up RNG even got an Exoray Mold.

PLUS, I kept hate like a champ <3 <3 <3

Well, as I'm the king of bard haters in our linkshell, I'm always expecting something like this. Everytime we try to pick up a bard, I always grumble. I was unfortunately afk during most of the recruiting time yesterday or I would've had you just not bother asking them.

I have nothing against the bards out there who kick ass and don't think they are entitled to special rights because of their job. However, as I stated yesterday, I'd rather have any other job as our 6th who is at least somewhat competant than a really good bard player who thinks they are above other jobs.

Face it bards, you are NOTHING without a party. So to all those bards who want to pick and choose, fuck you! And a special FUCK YOU!!! to the asshole bard yesterday who had to "finish watching a movie" even though his seek party flag was up. That's the lowest of low in bullshit. I hope he was eating popcorn during the movie and choked on it.

I've never had a problem with brds but I completely understand your post.

Whms and blms pull this shit alot in dunes in my opinion.

-Leave without any form of warning
-Say they need to log, disband, put seek flag up. Although that one party wasn't very good...However lying is making others pissed, I can completely understand wanting far better xp, just freaking say so if it's really that bad.
-Refusing to start parties or parties with only 2 people. If they're not the 6th member they get their panties in a twist.

This has become far less of a problem in the mid lvls from my experience though.

Who cares though? Seriously. If someone doesn't want to play in your party thats their deal. If you want to hunt level items and the exp isn't as good its not their obligation to farm them with you. Don't take it to heart that they would rather get a party dedicated to exp and not genkai.

4500 xp an hour wasn't good enough?

Bull-shit.

It's not the fact that they didn't want to party with us. It's the fact that they both strung me along for over 10 minutes with bullshit tells- that was time that, if they'd just told me "no thanks" at the beginning, I could have been spending looking for someone else and getting our group set up.

I've got nothing against someone who doesn't want to join us- that's their perogative (and loss, IMO). Most people, when they tell me right away that they don't want to join for whatever reason, I send them off with my best wishes, and a "Have fun!". But both of these guys just strung me along, involving me in long-ass detailed conversations, only to have wasted both me and my group's time in the end.

Actually I primarily made that post as a test as theres no test forum. :p
Eh, its easy to say 4500exp per hour after the fact. They didn't want to hunt there and/or didn't like the pt setup. It's not your fault they missed out on decent exp, but at the same time I find it a little funny to so harshly criticize them for whatever. This is the flameboard though I guess. :p

She made it pretty clear what she's criticizing about....

Cough cough *Taru BRDs** Cough.

LOL
No offense to the not stuck up Taru BRDs.

Seeing as this on the flameboard I'll rant about BRDs. They are usefull, and nice to have but a lot of em are stuck up. I had a PT with my PLD and we got a BRD, something i wasn't happy about in the 1st place. Anyway the RNG gets aggro from a raptor in Terrigan, so we engauge, everything is fine, but I"m losing MP fast, healing myself and the near dead ranger. The BRD comes over and plays the melee songs of his choice. I say "Please refresh me" and he doesn't, the WHM can't keep up with the heals cause the raptor is doing tons of damage...and I die. No biggie. So then I get raised and we move to camp. Due to having a brd we have to stand in formation, no problems. Then I have to break formation due to a hate issue. I'm out of range of ballad, my MP starts running thin. So I ask him to refresh me. He says "You're not in your spot, you don't get it, I don't get rid of the melee's buffs for you." At this point I"m pretty steamed, and even the MNK and the RNG are telling him to refresh me. Well I die again. Then he says "I dont link this PT, I can get another one soo fast." And warps out. A lot of mage characters act stuck up cause they can get a PT easy...that's messed up.../sigh.

Ok my rant is over....

Given my experience with playing brd you should check your own attitudes first as well. I went into many a party very friendly and got hit with very nasty attitudes because they expected me to be stuck up. Despite me being polite through the whole party they never dropped the attitude toward me and made me reconsider my attitude when exping as brd. :? Many also worked to hard to tell me how to play my job and asking to do the impossible. Such as demanding I refresh the pld while he stood between the two melees and then when the fight drags on to 5mins because they can't hit anything they whine about not having melee buffs and as a result pld spends way more mp despite having ballad than he would have if I had left melee buffs on and let them kill it quicker.

The formation is so critical for brds and many melees don't seem to appreciate that. It is very difficult to land ballad on the pld if they keep moving around or formation is croocked as I commonly encountered (eg: party in tunnel, pld one side of tunnel with mob in middle and melees on other side of tunnel. No way I can get behind pld now to refresh him without hitting melees).

Whole reason I quit brd is because too many parties were uncooperative and would rather blame me than try to work together so I could do my job right. I have a feeling other brds have quit because of that as well. Treat a brd like dirt, see where it gets you. :? And what is with all these jealous comments about brds getting instant parties? I commonly spent 3-4 hours lfp a day (far more than I do on my mnk), I went 3 days straight without an invite once on brd (still doesn't beat my 11 day streak on whm). Grass is always greener on the other side until you actually go there and find out it is the same color brown as your lawn.

Here's an idea. It's not the job you play that determines on whether or not you are an asshole in game, it's the type of person playing that character.

Isn't it possible that you asked two true to life dicks, who just happen to be Bards?

It seems like there are a lot of "true to life dicks" in this game regardless of job lol.

I am only a 22 RDM so I haven't had much experience with bard players. I think I've only partied with them twice at most.

I'd disagree with BRDs being the least populated job... iirc the last Census had Summoner at 0.1% of the total population. Of course, if you're talking about IN DEMAND jobs... well, yes, BRD is the least available.

Rones basically hit the nail on the head, though. BRDs need a lot from the party, and trying to keep 5 other people in the proper formation can be like pulling teeth. It's the same with a THF who's slow on the fuidama, or the first voker who keeps forgetting to voke as soon as the mob comes into camp. And people are quick to blame anyone, so long as it isn't themselves.

I like bards, I'm always the one shouting "Get the bard! Get the bard" but no matter what class you play, if you're a stuck-up dick, I'm not going ot be happy about you.

Those 2 bards just happened to be stuck up dicks.

Then there was the DRG that wouldn't answer us at all...

You quit bard??

I partied my Ranger a few times i believe with you in Kuftal, you were quite the beast of a bard, and I had a good time jamming to your tunes and fucking up crabs left and right 8)

Formation is essential to any party bard or no bard, its also ridiculously n00bish to see 2 to 3 melees circling around the mob hacking away like chimps. People just have no attention span and STILL dont understand the concepts of lining un STRAIGHT in front and behind mobs....

Two points:

1. The two bards were - by the description given anyway - acting like assholes. They may perhaps have been a bit more arrogant in showing that because their job is in demand, but nevertheless, it's an aspect of them as individuals, not a trait of the job.

2. If you have WHM RDM already, you really are better off with another DD rather than a BRD. (I hate to agree with an asshole, but as far as a conceptual point, I have to agree on this one.) Overkill on backline support means slower kills and less efficient exp. 1 tank, 2 support, 3 damage is almost always better than 1 tank, 3 support, 2 damage.

WHM RDM BRD is very "safe" fighting, with 6 MP/tick and tons of buffs and debuffs ... but it's one less person actually actively hurting the enemy, and that does mean a lot (turn 3 people into 2 people ... you're now taking 1.5 times as long per kill assuming they each do equal damage).

Remove the WHM, remove the RDM, or remove the BRD - any pair out of the three works well (well, if it's RDM BRD then the RDM has to be willing to take a heavy healing role). But either way, you're really better off without taking up space with all three.

From the looks of the following posts, you got a RNG to fill the last slot, and you got 4500 exp/hr with that party. To be honest, you probably wouldn't have gotten that much if a BRD had filled the last spot instead. I've played BRD for 75 levels, and I can tell you that although I've had my share of super-efficient parties (and my share of highly inefficient parties), I have never ever had a super-efficient party with *three* backline support. And my most efficient parties have been with just one backline support - me (i.e. cannon parties). Sheer damage output should not be underestimated.
