Camped this morning with some friends. And camped. And camped.
3 1/2 hours. No pirate attacks.
Camped later today with a friend. and camped. And camped. and camped. And camped. . . . . .
Pity that it feels like a f-!king eternity on every boat ride.
After between 3 1/2h and 4h of camping, pirates finally attack, and, go f-!king figure, no NM.
This wouldn't have have been so irritating, if it weren't for the fact that I could've sworn that before one of the last few patches, pirate attacks were virtually 1-3 per Vana'Diel week. Also wouldn't have been NEARLY as irritating if there weren't the JP WHM there with a Sea Robber Cudgel (the one I'm after), camping not only for the crappier cudgel for dual wield, but also camping a second Robber Cudgel for her RDM buddy who's WHM is in his high 40s. Yes, high FORTIES.
It's like f-!king camping Argus all over except I gotta reboard ships every 15 minutes and see if pirates are attacking every 7 inbetween, so it's actually breaking the legendary level of boredom that was originally held by Argus.
Seriously SE, what the f-!k were you thinking, giving us an NM that's lotto pop off of an already horribly rare lotto pop (pirate attack), and the item's not even a 100% drop. I'm probably gonna blow at least 30h just trying to claim this NM and probably either won't win or won't get the drop.
Beyond all my irritation and frusteration, the worst part of it is...unless I get MNK75/NIN37, I won't be soloing this NM....which means I gotta bring a friend or two to sit around, being bored to hell, for hours upon hours, so far for nothing. And it makes you feel a LITTLE crappy..
Again, way to show your WHM farm/solo/whatevering approval SE. Give em lotto-off-of-lotto NMs with not-100% drop rate and some f-!king level 80 conch with Auto Regen +30. What's next, some actually-good BLM weapon that drops off an NM that's popped via 12 morion tathlums and does Manafont -> Thundaga IV?
