Today, I failed 7 times in a row on supposedly the easiest promy. The pt set ups were good, but the NM was alot harder than I expected? Has anyone beat this CoP 1-3 mission port-update? Can u share pt set up and technique? Thank you!

well, dem and the... other non-holla one is really simple if all 6 party members have the 3 animas. i mean, making it a 99.99% win rate easy. holla, you might need a few summoners... :lol:

You can lose on prom-dem???? XD make sure you have a pimp ass whm though and you can't lose. *cough* ME *cough* i love doing the proms though they are fun so if you need a whm give me a /tell.

Hey WSM...

What do you mean by a "good" setup? Clearly there is a flaw.

Because despite how hard you cookie cutter, factors such as lack of anima and skill prevent it from being perfect.

you dont need animas, they just make it easier

and dem can be tough if you dont have a blinktank (progenetor absorbs health like crazy) cant DD quickly when its low on health to overcome its regen, or cant keep the offspring off the mages so they can do their jobs.

it all depend on who you go with, go with experinced player and youll take it down with ease

Which is exactly why whenever I do 5-2 I'm demanding everyone bring all 3 Animas or I don't set foot one in that Spire.

do what I did.. quit CoP :|

Anima is in no way necessary to win -ANY- of the Promyvian's; it simply helps in certain cases. Personally, I think the anima that makes the mob run around in crazy circles (Hystero? I forgot the name) is all but useless, as it's next to impossible to damage the boss when its doing this without a ranged attack of some kind. As an FYI, Anima may be bad for your mages to use if hate is sketchy, since using items will cause some hate.

I've taken SMN to Dem every time I've helped with it; being able to use Astral Flow > Inferno on the Offsping seemed to help a lot, as long as the main boss didn't move out of range. The downside to this is that SMN is virtually useless other than to astral flow in this BC, and you need a WHM on top of a SMN, since you lose your MP pool @ Astral Flow and won't be able to cure your tank(s). Depending on your setup, 1-2 normal bloodpacts, followed by 3x Infero will usually see it dead.

We took two rangers into this BC for EES at the end as well, but I haven't done this since the nerf, so I don't know how well that works anymore.

Keeping in mind that we did this pre-patch, most of my parties were consistant of roughly the following:

WHM/BLM
SMN/WHM
WAR/NIN
WAR/NIN
RNG/NIN
RNG/NIN

The WHM and the SMN both had a lot of Drinks, and the SMN did a lot of the healing before Astral Flow so that the WHM had a mostly full MP pool when the SMN couldn't cure anymore. I really don't like NIN/WAR for any of the starter Promies, since neither job has Utsusemi: Ni, and NIN is VERY fragile at level 30. >.<;

There's a lot of different setups for this BC, but this one happens to be my personal favorite. XD

Promy-Vahzl is actually a lot (relatively speaking) easier than the basic Promies (imho) since none of the jobs are as faaking useless at level 50 as they are at 30. XD It still takes a bit of getting used to, and may entail a loss or two, but overall I found Vazhl far less annoying than any of the basic Promy's. >.>;

Cubs, I have to go back through Promy-Vazhl relatively soon for a friend anyways, if you want to come I might have room. ^^b What mission are you on now? I have to do everything starting at Ouryu and going through the end again.

Its the Terro anima :D And yea, its pretty useless against a boss unless you need time to regroup after a hard hit.

We usually use them outside of the boss fight on the regular empty. They are great when you get aggro.
The last time we used one on a Gorger, he ran away and we didnt see him again (I'm assuming he ran far enough away and lost interest)

well i did dem and mea as drk/war alot of time now "most were ENM*

psycho anima is better for him since he like to Double Attack/Triple Attack alot

and Promy-Vahzl is easy, pt set up was pld ,mnk, drk/war"me", rdm ,smn ,blm and no death

I can honestly say I've never done a Promyvion or ENM in Promyvion with a non-blink tank (either NIN/WAR or WAR/NIN, usually one of each), so I couldn't say how hard it is without one. However, I have to say that Dem is the only one I've found where we never even had time to use animas because it died too fast. Again, maybe it's because of blink tanks?

Gravity/Bind is your friend, melee can still hit it.

As for promys being different after the last update, I dunno about the boss fights, but getting there is A LOT easier now. On Dem's 4th floor, you can get to the spire without even fighting (except for the mad dash at the end).

Yeah we were doing fine in the original promies until someone used a hystero in mea. The stupid thing went absolutely insane after that. Usage of animas--especially what types--depends more on your party setup than default "gotta use em all" mentality.

Promies are no joke though. People aren't used to playing their lowbie jobs, because they change so much from 30-75 that you can hardly recognize yourself as a L30. People tend to runrunrun up there and then go into the fight cold though. I think that's the biggest problem. People should fight a couple IT mobs before going in to gel as a team. First fight in the xp party is always the worst.

Re Vazhl, from the vids I've seen Terro works really well when the 2nd/3rd mobs aggro at ~15% of the current one's health. A Hystero on the main and a Terro on the new aggro buys 30 seconds to off the nearly dead one and move in on the next.
