Falling Apart.

So I switched to graveyard shift at my store about 2 weeks ago..
I sleep during the day. Up all night. Sounds cool... yeah.

Only thing is I only see my girl for 2-3 hours when I get off work, but she is sleeping. I find no time to play Final Fantasy. I can't see any friends. I can't do nothing like I did during my "normal" life. My eating habits are completely different now and bad.

My relationship with my girl feels like it is going down hill. I feel like canceling my account for Final Fantasy 11 since it seems like I will never get the chance to play again with my hours.

Today (6AM PST) I went to talk to my boss. I asked for him to switch me back to day shift as soon as possible after he gets another employee for graveyard.

I just have to wait and see what happens.

For everybody that either talked to me or was somehow used to seeing me on the game. This is my reason.

Sucks man, I worked the graveyard shift for a few months, so I know how it feels. After a while you get used to it, but it never stops sucking. Good luck, and I hope your manager can get you out of there soon.

Graveyard pays, what, and extra buck-fifty an hour? (Mine did at least.) After the first month of getting the worst sleep ever, the extra money I was making all went to coffee and sleeping pills. After a while it just wasn't worth it.

It takes a lot to work this shift and keep everything together, so just be careful. Do you at least get weekends off?

Switching up your sleep cycle like that is actually bad for your health, mentally and physically. I'd say fuck it... not worth losing your girl, your health, and your social life... for.. uh... pretty much nothing.

I live in California. This is my first actually real job. (pay with taxes) I was desperate for any job when I got it so my girl can move in with me at my parent's house.

I read somewhere min. wage is s'posed to go up next year to $8.

I have a feeling rent will go up to. I don't know what I'm thinking right now but I do know that I am stressing over many things and that I need to get going to sleep.

I know how you feel. It was a very stupid decision, but when my boss did something like that to me, I quit. Right there as he said it lol. But I got to keep some of the more important things in life. (I wasnt playing ffxi at the time so that isnt one of them lol)

min wage here is $6.75 here. and I already figured that the stress isn't worth it. (i re-read this and it sounded like i am being asshole.. but i'm not trying to on sound like one.)

You don't have to go jobless. The best thing about working such a shitty shift, is it gives you some daytime to look for a job. Working at night will allow you to go to interviews and such during the day. Check a newspaper and keep your eyes peeled for anything.

be glad that you dont live in TN its 5.15 an hour for minimum(sp?). Your live can always be worse be glad that it hasnt gotten there yet. I'm still waiting to get that call so i can get a job. Thing down here in TN is that you have to know people to get a decent job or be related to people it sucks but thats how it is=/

Well, here in Florida I pay 501 dollars per month for my one bedroom place. However, that includes my military discount. I'm moving out tomorrow though, so I can't say for certain how prices are going to be back in Reno when I get there.

i know how you feel I work 7:30-4:30 am its hard getting used to but i usually crash out right at 4:40 am and wake up around 10 am .. takes time to get used to but still will affect your relationship and social life and what not.... thats not the reason why i dont play ffxi much tho just been playing FE RoD.. and other stuff..

I feel for ya man, i did the graveyard shift for about 2 weeks and then quit my job. I hated every minute; every aspect of that job and when I quit, this sence of utter happiness came over me. I hope you get to feel that soon. Feeling the weight of the world come off your shoulders makes you apperciate life alot more. Hell, the ability to work in sunlight is the first thing that made me happy. Screw the fact that I was walking a mile each way to just GET to the job, or the fact that this happened in the winter when there was a foot of snow on the ground. Just being able to be awake when the sun was out was a pleasure that I had taken for granted.

I've talked to people who actually wanted to do the graveyard shift, and the only thing that I can come up with is that they do it because they dont really have/want to do anything during the day. They already have a wife/kids and dont want to go out in the first place. Now you sound like a young guy who's starting out so use that free time and get a new job like other people have suggested. Have you tried of going to the local Telephone company, or Public Service? I know it sounds nasty, but garbage men get aLOT of money for the work they do. Have you ever thought of being a cop/firefighter? Sure, you cant just walk off the street and get a job being these things but atleast work your way to getting out of graveyard at the store. Even if you put yourself on a waiting list of one/all of these jobs you can try and do something else in the meantime. What about working at the local movie theater? Most of the jobs end around what, 12-1am tops unless its the cleanup crew? It would be something till you can get a better job a little later on.

You know, if you on a struggle now, you can always cancel your account tempertary... if you still thinking about coming back soon, just reactive after 3 months, then cancel back and stuff..
Night Shift really sucks tho... but if your girl know you working hard and supporting her a lot to make a living, is not likely it'll mess up the relationship.. at least you call her daily during like your lunch break or something.

If i were you, like someone else said, try too look for better job better, hour, and better wages. Maybe hard to find one this perfect, but it won't hurt to reasearch some ^^
