Fallout 3

Yes.. why?

'Cause, I bought the PS3 version because my 360's been acting funny lately and I couldn't take the risk of it bricking on me. Now I'm hearing that the PS3 version's a little glitchy.

Haven't had the time to play it yet.

I am running the PS3 version. I have noticed glitches, some of which might be version specific some might be console specific and some might be even on the PC.

- When you get a PSN pop up (ex: someone logging on/off), when it's there, the game freezes for the second that it's up. If you're in the middle of combat, it's highly annoying. I do not know if turning messages off will fix it, but if it does, I recommend it. It's an unacceptable bug. This has to be at least console only, if not only a PS3 issue.

-At this point where you take a test that determines your skills, my first time through I was just sitting there waiting for the test for about 3 minutes until I had to load the game again. I don't imagine this is only an error for the PS3, because of the nature of it.

It runs well generally, and looks pretty decent. Unless they're to be patched in, there are no trophies. I could really care less about that, but a lot of people do.

So the PS3 version is no train wreck or anything, and I imagine there will be a patch for the freezing during a popup. Til then just disable the notifications and you'll be fine.

If you are completely neutral on PS3 or 360, get it on 360 - it's offline only and I think there might be some exclusive DLC.

As for Mass Effect, I just gotta say it's an unfair complaint about Fallout 3's enemies' lack of reactions. Mass Effect enemies just run around seemingly randomly, bumping into walls showing no sign at all of being damaged until they're killed.

As for the communication systems... yes, Mass Effect's is deeper. The writing is also far lamer, and the voice actors show no emotions at all. It's like they're all british comedians or something. It's possible the actual overall story of Mass Effect is better, but the dialogue and V.A. left me with no interest in it, while Fallout 3 captured me from the first scene. Also of note, I had similar feelings about Elder Scrolls: Oblivian as I did Mass Effect, story wise. It's obvious that they really upped their game this time around.

I haven't really noticed any glitches, been playing for quite some time today and yet I feel like I haven't really done too much. I haven't gotten any psn notifications so I can't really comment on that. So far everything's been working fine.

Spoiler:
I killed the mercenary in the Megaton shop since he opened fire on me after I used the terminal... all in front of the girl there, can't recall her name. But she's a tough woman, no trauma at all and she still likes me. Sweet.

All the versions are glitchy. But they aren't HUGE game braking glitches.

As most reviews report, the PS3 version has far more glitches then the others. Yes all have some minor issues, the PS3 version has many. You may not have run into these glitches yet and may never... Most of the review go on to say the game is still great for PS# and they are just a little dissapointed how the game turned out on the console.

anyone set off the nuke? what happens?

I can understand why, the dood who was in charge of creating the game focused far more on the 360 cause he likes the 360 far more than any of the other systems (Wii, PS3, PC) also since the 360 and PC develop similarly but PS3 is different from the others well *shrugs* could just be laziness, could just be lack of people familiar with the system development or who knows. I've had no problem, so I don't care :P I usually enjoy glitches cause, usually, they are just silly and fun to play with. Rarely are they game crashing or such (usually those kinda glitches I find are far more frequent on PC).

It's not just the PS3 version. The same thing happened to me on the 360. I was getting really pissed off, but the test began as soon as I loaded my save file.

anyone set off the nuke? what happens?

Spoiler:
You have to travel pretty far away. Mora becomes a Ghoul. The woman doing the book. You see a huge mushroom cloud explosion. The whole town is destroyed and you can not enter. Going close to it I think causes 10 Rads.

Spoiler:
Yeah, what Jer said. I blew up the nuke. If you choose to go that way, you gotta travel way southwest to Tenpenny Tower. Then you get to set off the nuke and see the mushroom cloud, bright light, etc, it's pretty awesome. You get 500 caps and a permanent room at the hotel to sleep, but a lot of bad karma. Megaton becomes Megaton Ruins, and the area around it is clouded and if you go near the town, your rads start to increase, up to 9rad/s.

To think a multiplat Dev liking one system over another changes the value of the game on whichever console... To think a Dev is just lazy and that changes the value of a game on whichever console... These two are just bad ideas from fans and further justifies the term "Fanboy". That does not mean you are one Ele... I understand you are just giving opinions and options.

There is money involved here, alot of money. Showing bias towards one side makes your total value shit for a multiplat dev, you would think. There are exceptions like huge exclusive devs... We are talking about a multiplat game...

Now you did say it could be a lack of people with experience on whichever console for that dev team(in this case the console is the PS3). I would say BINGO Ele. That would also tie into the fact its just damn harder to develop a multiplat for the PS3.

Remember these devs made Oblivion great for 360... Then used a whole year to make and enhance the PS3 version... And all they enhanced was a slim amount of detail in the visuals. Which was later equaled by 360 via a patch. I would say you are right on the money Bethesda just doesnt have enough PS3 experience yet.

We can easily say they are trying alot harder then some other multiplat devs.. Like Ubisoft...

So has anyone had any mercs come after them yet? I had to kill these mercs because I am too much of a good guy so they were sent to kill me. I took the hit papers and there was 1000 caps hit for my head.

They happen for either side. I have since abandoned my good path since i somehow got the achievement for bad karma (figured i'll just keep with it) and i've had at least 3 run ins with merc attacking me. I had 1000 caps to 2500 caps warrants out on me.

I've had two or three squads after me, sometimes they show up at the worst time... They keep killing my dog.

By the way, anyone know of a good place to find crutches?

That is why I asked if anyone else had seen them yet. I figured they would come after you either way but wanted confirmation.

It is so much easier being bad than good. I've not even come close to running out of caps, ammo, or healing items since i made the turn. I bought robbed the whole market district in Rivet City by being hidden and using a sniper rifle to knock the owner unconscience. Then I just run over and steal every thing i can before they wake up.

Same thing for killing most caravans and scavangers.

I'm not looking forward to starting out good again.....

Man this game looks amazing D: Hopefully gonna be getting it this weekend. Gonna be rolling with the dark side as usual...no fun in being good ;/

I have been doing fine. until I ran into 2 brutes with miniguns at the same time. That was not fun but I will get my supplies up again.

laziness is a factor in some developers though... Valve has even admitted they don't want to bother with the PS3 based on laziness :P it's why they, themselves, don't develop the versions of anything they make for the PS3... Orange box PS3 was done by EA iirc. Also why they haven't done anything with Wii, though they have said the controls of the Wii interest them.

Though ya, I'm not saying that is true for Bethesda, cause they do try and make for the PS3 versions of their games. I'm more toward the experience too. But when I do read and watch some interviews with the lead dood over Fallout 3, he seems to favor 360 more :P just saying.
