I got a call a few days ago. It was Brian, or as most of you know him, Brin. He calls me just about every week, usually more than that, but still, there was a bit of a sad tone in his voice.

Brin explained to me that after reinstalling and reupdating FFXI, his PS2 HDD formatted itself again. It was then that he had decided it was time to quit the game. He has a child of his own now, and he has already accomplished what he had originally set out to do in this game, and much more.

Brin also knows that, if he were to make this post himself, or to continue visiting FFXI forums or websites, that he would miss all of Quetz enough that he would come back. As a result, he has deleted all his FFXI bookmarks and will not be returning (as far as I know). Please understand, it doesn't mean that he does not want to leave a proper goodbye to all of his friends, he just doesn't have the heart to go through with it.

Also, since he has no access to his account, he has given me the information so that I can pass out any items he feels should be given to people. So if any of you receive items, please know that while I may be the one sending them, Brin is the man behind it all. He cares for Quetzy's denizens, perhaps too much at times.

It's a shame, but I am sure he will be missed. Brin wanted me to let anyone know because, again, if he were to see so many heartfelt goodbyes or people asking him to stay, that he would.

Goodbye my hotpocket-eating, dragoony friend.

Its too bad he had to leave, I'd only recently helped him on the sleepga II NM, and just from that and from his presence in the forum he seemed to be one of the nice players. But I think its a good choice for him to devote his time to his family, especially his new little daughter who i'm sure will keep him more than busy. If he put a lot of work into his character in the game, i'm sure he'll be putting a lot of time into raising his family and enjoy every moment of it. Families are always something to cherish :)

mmm sad to hear Lecan. Wife got him in the end. ;p

All joking aside, he has a great life ahead of him and I can only wish him the best. May he have many hotpocket nights ahead.

So... When is he taking me to the San Diego Zoo? D: He promised because every other friend in the area whines how boring it is. XD

Bye Brin, good luck with the baby. :wink:

Quitting?

Having a baby isn't an excuse to me.

Oh, c'mon, someone had to say it...

Best of luck to Brin. DRGZ 4 LYFE, YO.

GL in RL, Another DRG down ;;

NOOOOOOoooooo..... Funny enough, when he dinged 75, someone said "your wife is probably going to make you quit now that you've 'finished' the game" to which he replied "she's already tried that".

:( Bye Teh Brin.

Real men take responsibility and with a newborn its the right thing to do.

Congrats again Brin and goodbye;)

Sorry to see Brin go ; ;

Sorry to see him quit, it's a shame to lose an actually good DRG.

Very sad to see Brin go. He is a very kind and well spoken person. I think Ikari will be very sad however, those two were almost insepirable.

Lecan, please tell Brin I said best of luck to him and his family, and to enjoy raising his baby for everything it is worth. Thank you for posting his farewell.

Mistra~

I was only joking when I recommended he join me on the dark side ;;...

However, Brin - quitting is the best thing you could do for yourself when it comes to this game and your family. Take care and have a wonderful life.
