There is a favorite vocalist topic and it seemed to spark some interest so i would like to make a thread that covers bands albums and songs. I do not know about some people but my favorite band didn't make my favorite Album or play my favorite song. i do not know if i am alone in this boat but here it is.

Favorite Album :
Dashboard Unplugged by MTV:

Could name a couple, but I'll name based on what I've been listening to recently, or soemthing that, no matter what, I listen to a lot. (i.e. Incubus, I never get tired of them.)

Favorite Album: Dying is your latest fashion by Escape the Fate
Favorite Band: Incubus
Favorite Song: A Box Full of Sharp Objects by The Used

There is no way I can give definitive answers for any of these...
For the moment, though, my favorite album seems to be 13&God by 13&God, awesome whiteboy glitch-hop.
Favorite band, I'd say ISIS.
Favorite song, Resurrection Fern by Iron & Wine

Favorite Album: Justice "Cross"
Favorite Band: I don't have one. There are far too many for me to choose one.
Favorite Song: "Always", "Josie, and "I Miss You" all by Blink 182. These are just based on the "Most Played" in my iTunes.

Favorite Album: We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things
Favorite Song: Details in the Fabric (for the time being)
Favorite Band: Breaking Benjamin

Band - Metallica
Album - ...And Justice for All (by Metallica)
Song - Too many awesome songs in the world to pick just one, but my top three Metallica songs are in no paticular order: For Whom the Bell Tolls, Harvester of Sorrow, and One.

Band - Dragonforce
Album - Rise of the Tyrant By Arch Enemy
Song - 激動 (Gekidou) by UVERworld (D.Gray Man OP4)

Would anyone agree that the beatles are the single most overrated band? I mean, they are good, but come on.

and no trippy I am not picking on you.

Band: Pearl Jam
Album: Wilco - A Ghost Is Born
Song: Sigur Ros - untitled #1 aka "vaka" from ()

Pearl Jam has been and always will be my favorite bad, although they really tested me with their latest release. There are several albums that could fit as my favorite album, but A Ghost Is Born seems to have everything I look for in an album. Favorite song really just depends on my mood and energy level for the day, plus I just love this song.

I used to think that, but then seeing all the inflated hype some of the world's shittiest bands get... and how many ignorant people follow and praise these bands... I would disagree with that statement. People still listen to their music because the music comes from some level of creativity, which 99% of bands anymore lack.

Favorite Album: Sublime: 40oz to Freedom

Fuckin stoners and your damn Sublime....I can't stand those guys, no matter how much pot I've smoked that day.

I'd agree that their drummer was the single luckiest motherfucker on the planet. I'd also agree that he sucked more ass than Kelyon(lol). As for the rest of the band, I think you just had to grow up in the 60's to really understand them. They were probably good for their time...either that or 1 popular person thought they were good and the rest of the country jumped on the bandwagon like they do today. Idk.

No no no no no. The Beatles are easily some of the most influential artists ever. Take the song Helter Skelter, which I've heard called the first metal song. It makes sense, as the beat is very heavy and rhythmic.

Maybe I'm biased because, from a very early age, my dad would sit me down in front of the stereo and play a great majority of their albums. When the other kids in my grade were listening to New Kids on the Block, I had a mixtape of Beatles, Beach Boys, and Meatloaf.

I can tell you in a minute if that's true or not.

edit: A minute later...

Wow, I was actually quite surprised by how metal that song actually was. And since it came out in 1968 I'd say it's quite arguable that it was the first metal song. I consider Black Sabbath to be the first true metal band ever, and their first album was in 70. However, some people consider Deep Purple the first metal band and their first album also came out in 68. I think that's total bullshit personally though. And even though that's when all the albums came out, that might not have been when all the songs on em were written. So I'd say it's a throwup between The Beatles song, a Zeppelin (first album in 69) song, or a Sabbath song for the first metal song ever. I still stand by my opinion that Sabbath was the first metal band ever, just to clarify.

Hmm, my favorite album I think would be Mariah Carey's Daydream (and not surprisingly, this is the last album she put out before she divorced Tommy Mottola, lol). My favorite band I think is Do As Infinity, and my favorite song would be "Get Up & Move" by Kumi Koda, for the time being.

I don't understand how someone can have a favorite album that's not by their favorite band.

Well, I'll go ahead and defend my choices here. Pearl Jam I love everything they do. I think Ten is an excellent album but I wouldn't put it above A Ghost Is Born. Why? To me Ghost far exceeds what Ten is capable of. The guitar work is excellent (debatable, i know, but this is my taste we're talking about), Tweedy's voice is on another level.

Now the flipside of the coin: If I love Ghost so much, why isn't Wilco listed as my favorite band? Because their earlier albums are a bit more scattered for me. They we're sticking closer to their alt-country-rock roots which I can dig, but only sometimes. PJ took the favorite for me because I can always listen to their music, always. McCready and Gossard basically taught me how to play guitar, so that gives them bonus points in the running for my favorite band.

If you're still confused, I could try to explain it some more but it's quitting time and don't want to stay at work any longer.
