What is your favorite comic? (you can name book OR strip - or both)

I was cleaning up some old books today, and realized I still had my Calvin and Hobbes collection. /sigh

That has GOT to be my fav. comic....ever <3

It's a tie for me, really, between Calvin and Hobbes and Bloom County.
On one hand, Calvin and Hobbes taught me how to read. I'd point the pictures, and my mom would tell me what they were saying, and I'd correlate that with the funky symbols and turn them into words. On the other hand, Bloom County had some of the most poignant moments in its short ten-year run, and most of the jokes are dated now due to their largely political nature, but I still find them hilarious (although I wasn't even born for half the series) and the damn strip predicted some of the way things are now. For example, the very last Bloom County strip ever is of Donald Trump purchashing it and then telling the cast "You're Fired!" in 1989.

Can I say both? Please?

heheheh - yes you can say both ;) You can give me a top 5 for all I care - especially since you named C&H  /em bonds with Wonko  I think Calvin and hobbes taught me sarcasm and how to be a smart ass. Yup - my parents have THEM to thank ;)

Robin actually. It's been kinda lacking lately but I really like the whole balancing between a teenage life and the whole hero gig. Like how his teachers thought his father was beating him because he came to school with bruises...

I like the other bat books too...Gotham Knights is pretty freakin awesome. I miss the good old days of Impulse...dame that was a great book.

I dig the original fat cat. Garfield is da cat yo.

Mafalda! <3
(cause she's a news whore and has bad hair like me :D)

"Mom, what future do you see for this women's lib move...nevermind"

The original strips ran in the 60s and 70s.

I taught my cousin to play Calvinball. Translation: we ran around like ninnies making ray guns and safety goggles out of sidewalk chalk and lawn detritus. Great, great fun. I'd still be doing it, if I had some sidewalk chalk.

<---Loves the Calvin

I'd have to say my favorite comic is Groo the Wanderer though.

...And Cynicalman

Hard to pick just one. I used to work at a comic book store. Heh.

I've always had a soft spot for Get Fuzzy, but as a typical comic geek I pretty much like everything. I've got a huge collection of X-Men, and was a big fan of Generation X while it lasted. Exiles is great too. Hmm, what else...Gloom Cookie and Courtney Crumrin are good...

I like it all <3

KYA! Another Impulse Fan! <3 <3 <3.

I don't know what it was about Impulse, but I LOVED that kid! He's in the Teen Titans now, however you wouldn't know for the crapass T-V show

Some of my favorites are Preacher, J. Michael Straczynski's Rising Stars and his current run on Amazing Spider-Man, the comic strip For Better or Worse, and you can't go wrong with Watchmen.

I've also been reading a lot of manga lately. Gravitation and Fake are decent, but I love the balls-to-the-wall ultra-violence of Battle Royale. Imagine Lord of the Flies meets Survivor-style reality television, except Piggy gets a machine gun instead of a conch.

I would have to agree with sneakys pick of groo being my favorite comic also. Thats where I got my name from so it should be :)

Groo
