Favorite part of being a WHM!

I don't know why but I always liked the white mage type characters in most of the games that I played so I started out as white mage. I continued with it because I love helping out my friends and most of them don't have a white mage. I might not have the most glorious job in the party but I know that I am needed.
 
I'm in the same boat as Steen. And I'm not a big fan of melee jobs. I don't know why but I prefer mage jobs.
 
I guess it's nice that being a WHM gives you the responsibility of keeping alive the tank. Great things come your way if you abuse that responsibility.

Knowing that when someone pisses me off, and asks for a cure... I let them die. They then can either Homepoint or have someone else raise them. XD
 
I like removing status ailments as quickly as they're put on. One of my favorite White Mage experiences was making Labyrinth of Onzozo my bitch by keeping the tank free of any Torama-inspired shenanigans.

As a fisherman, I also like the extra mobility of having teleports and warps combined with Sneak and Invisible for exploring those hard-to-reach places.
 
LoO should be a staple for Whms to go through when they lvl. It honestly is the best learning place for a Whm.
 
I first became WHM because I wanted to be able to help ls friends during the early lvls and I also found that randomly healing people in West Ronfaure 3 years ago was a great way to meet new players that often would become friends.

I ended up keeping the job and taking it to 75 so that I could help my static partner get to 75 on his NIN.

But when I got it to 75, I ended up despising the job because every endgame shell wanted me to bring it, and quite frankly I found the job to be extremely boring if there were other mages. I only now enjoy the job when i'm doing fights like Ultima/Omega or doing Dynamis where there's constantly something I can be casting rather than sitting and waiting to cure/haste someone.

So I guess what keeps me playing the job, is the fact that I like challenging myself to be on top of casting everything asap. Plus, I love being able to toss out consecutive Cure Vs faster than the other WHMs because haste gear > mp gear ftw!
 
Back when I first started playing I had the good ole brady games guide and was reading about the jobs to figure out which I would prefer to be... I remember it saying something along the lines of "white mages make lot's of friends easily" and I said "hells yes easy" ... of course then I started playing and found that I truely enjoyed letting other people get beat up while I kept them standing and still to this day enjoy that...

that and RR3 with hexastrikes ^^

I completely agree with you. The first time I level'd white mage I learned so much about the job there. I think that's why there are so many crappy white mages now.. They never had to go to Onzozo.

Reraise III and Raise III

I like being the only job in game to use these spells. Especially when people rely on me giving them Raise III's.
 
I started leveling WHM so that I could use it as a sub for RDM, which is what I originally wanted to take to 75 first. But once I hit the 50's my favorite MP sponging DRK, Brydan, decided it was more fun to be wreckless with me at his side. I didn't have any choice but to take it to 75 at that point.

Oh yea and RR3, Devotion, my sexy Aristocrat's Coat, Hexa Strike and all that awesome WHM'y stuff.
 
I first started lvling WHM because, at the time, I thought Hexa Strike would work well with Kraken Club.

True story.
