Curious as to which RPGs people have really enjoyed on PC over the last decade or two...

For myself, Fallout 2, Arcanum, the entire Realms of Arkania series, Temple of Elemental Evil wasn't too bad, and there's probably a few in there that I've forgotten to list.

Neverwinter Nights 2 was unbelievable, albeit extremely long. Not that this is a bad thing but be prepared to dedicate quite some time to it - even though I missed a handful of side quests I still put in over 80 hours on it. Some epic fights too - the battle with the red dragon was just stellar.

Oblivion, obviously.

Dark Messiah was absolutely incredible too. The battle system is just stunning, and watching bad guys get stuck on your sword when you spear them through the chest makes me giddy every time I see it.

System Shock 2 if you can consider it an RPG - old game but very compelling nonetheless. Great environment, wide array of upgrade options, and the general creepy atmosphere drew me in with little trouble.

Haven't actually played any of the ones you mention above.

I haven't played a whole lot of RPGs on PC. I mostly stick with console. But the ones I have enjoyed are diablo 2 and titan quest. Oblivion was fun even though I didn't get a chance to get deep into it.

Gothic by far is the best RPG series for PC :D Awesome story, LARGE world to explore, rich graphics, fabulous (more unique too compared to others I've played) gameplay... such a great series.

The elder scrolls series is fun too but I find Gothic more enjoyable (more enjoyable story and characters and whatnot).

Neverwinter Nights is indeed ftw (I need to get the second and a new copy of the first).

Semi-off topic: It's about DAMN time this section was made.

I think NWN2 has an expansion pack coming out soon. Total kick in the nads seeing as how I've already deleted all my characters from when I went through the initial campaign.

Um the legend of the dragoon. I can't explain how many times i played/beat that.
Obviously ff7 best storyline ever in ff history.
Um....and of course grandia 2. never had more fun or been more happy to be home until i had that game...wow i must have /nolife

When it comes to PC RPG's, best one's I've played are Neverwinter Nights and Oblivion. I know the Baldur's Gate games get high praise, but I never really touched them. Diablo II and Titan Quest are also good dungeon crawlers, and I did enjoy Dungeon Siege when it first came out.

I also LOVED Deus Ex, but I dunno if you could count that as an RPG, maybe FPS/RPG hybrid, but it had one hell of a story and great design to it, everyone should atleast try it once.

I haven't really played these games, but they're the only 2 RPGs I know of which I watched/played for a bit and enjoyed: IceWind Dale, Baldur's Gate.

Deus Ex, in my opinion, is the best RPG to date. Hands down. It's so awesome :D story, gameplay, music, etc.. all of it pwns.

NWN = Good RPG

Planetscape Torment, Baldurs Gate series, Icewind Dale series, NWN1 and expansions, I haven't played the second, B&W1, I kinda count as an RPG, same as I'd call Freelancer an RPG in some aspects.

Fable, the lost Chapters, also ace.

The list goes on.

I don't play PC RPGs as a rule, but I'll second the nomination of Planescape Torment. It was very very good.

I quit playing my PC almost all together since I got my 360. I was playing NWN 2 and was loving it, but I have a phobia about playing on PC's that can't run the game in its best settings. Sometimes that game bogs down and it makes me mad lol.

I just wish that game would have been programmed better. I now play Oblivion on the 360 instead.

My favorites though were
1. Morrowind (don't know if this will be topped)
2. NWN
3. Icewind Dale 2

Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion- Yes is vey fun and its non stop. Playing this and FFXI your life is getting sucked away! I'm still playing it... o.o

Neverwinter Nights- Another non stop game, I haven't played it much of late because of all the games on my two computers... but very fun too.

Dungeon Siege II- This one was fun at first for me, but I got Neverwinter Nights at the same time with Dungeon Siege II so I only played it on days I got bored of Neverwinter Nights.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic- Need I say more... Very fun... Very... oh yes. >.>

Star Wars Knights Old Republic Sith Lords- uhh.... do I see a pattern here... o.O

Diablo 2- WOOT dungeon crawling, got to love it!

IceWind Dale has a video game? I've read some of the books, didn't know there was a video game. Do you play as Drizzit? Wow that would be cool..

I've never been much for PC play, I'm a console gamer, and my favorite RPG's come from the days of the PS1. I miss ps1 rpg's, turn-based fighting and all the classic rpg stuff that I can't think of right now but you all know they had. All the next gen rpg's are real-time and it's stupid, I'm hoping this real-time thing is just a fad.

Ha! I forgot about KOTOR jedi! Yes the first one was one of my all time favorites.

And you don't play Drizzt in Icewind Dale. You make your main character and there is no interaction with them like Baulders Gate.

Does Heroes of Might and Magic count? I know it's primarily a TBS, but people are listing hack and slash games with RPG elements, so it should :V

Thoe only games I've played on PC other than FF XI were:

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic I & II

One was just awesome, loved every part of it.
