Favorite Vocalist/singer?

Some of it isn't quite that accessible, but on the whole it is a superb album.

Favorites for me are:

Aaron Lewis - Staind. When he's not screaming he's really good. Espically in that song epiphany.

Cristina Scabbia - Lacuna Coil. Her voice really shines in the the song called falling and falling again which is slightly altered from falling.

Favorite vocalists for me would be between Beth Gibbons (Portishead), Bilinda Butcher (MBV), and... fuckin' Daryl Hall.

Male vocals

Ivan L. Moody -

bands: Ghost machine, Five finger death punch, (ex) Motograter

female vocals

Vibeke Stene
(ex) Tristania
Tarja Turunen (ex) Nightwish

I just recently listened to Fionna apple's Extraordinary Machine album...her voice is fucking incredible, she can sing and play the piano and shes awsome live which is a pretty important factor imo.

Heres a clip of her live (@2:40 is crazy vocals):

Edit guess I fail at posting youtube vids, oh well, link here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YsMZkCLxfkM&feature=related

As if anyone couldn't guess:

Utada Hikaru:

Live Performance of HEARTSTATION

Now a cover in English

Robert Plant - Zeppelin. Obvious reasons, so no need to post video.

Dave Matthews - Dave Matthews Band (Duh?) He has some of the craziest lyrics to try and keep up with, and he scats like there's no tomorrow on many songs. Performance below is of the song Warehouse, which has some deep lyrics and powerful singing.

Patrick Murphy - Gaelic Storm (Met him personally, he's both an amazing singer and hilarious to talk to) Also look into Twigger, he's their guitar player and also sings on a few songs, "She was the prize" is one of my all time favorite love songs.

Jeez, Lennon and McCartney. Just listen to Hey Jude.

I also love Okkervil River's Will Sheff. He's such a technically poor singer, but he sings so passionately. When he screams, his voice trembles in a way that makes each word resonate through your body and dwell in your head until you're ready to scream right back at him, with all the same power and motivation. He really makes you feel it.

Edit: I guess it really depends on what I'm listening to.

In terms of soul and blues, I love Otis Redding. In pop, can you tell me Michael Jackson isn't amazing? Elton John is a great singer, too.
