I'm starting this thread to get some answers regarding the npc.
I'm hoping to not start a rumor mill with this thread but to get a listing of everyone's experiences. There are enough threads around on how to do the npc quest.. What I'm looking for here is information on leveling and treating the npc.
I'll just go down the list from what I've heard and let everyone respond to these topics..

feel free to list your own questions and statements:
**You can drop your Signal Pearl earring and reobtain it from Rendezvous point once a day thus resetting your NPC's timer giving you the ability to call the NPC twice in one 24 hr period.
**The NPC will get experience from every battle you fight regardless of your lvl.. example: 47 whm/blm and lvl 30 NPC "Shield" fighting too weak to be worthwhile mobs.
**NPC will leave either half their lvl in minutes or 1.5 times their lvl in battles.
(npc lvl)/2 or (npc lvl) x 1.5battles
Saying npc is lvl 30 .. would mean npc would leave in either 30 min or 45 battles.
***You can trade weapons to Luto for your NPC to use.
***Your NPC cannot be called in dungeons or bcnm type areas.
***You can trade your pearl back to Luto to do the NPC quest again and get a different NPC.
***The NPC randomly changes equipment as she/he progresses, but regardless of equipment the NPC's defense does not change.
***You get the ability to change the NPC from Shield, to Attacker or Healer after signalling for them 3 times.
***It is known the npc will lower their lvls if you choose a job lower than 30, but does the NPC still get exp?
***The required amount of exp is much different than what is required of the player signalling for them. If you can prove this can you give more information on how much exp is needed for leveling.. I was under the impression that the NPC got 30% of the exp I received thus granting me 70% of what I would normally get.. if this is the case then I need to concentrate on killing decent challenges and even matches which as a 47 whm would get me killed...
Any feedback would be appreciated, and any proven facts would be excellent. There doesnt seem to be much proven information out there regarding our newfound companions.. Lets try to get as much information spread around as we can.
on that note let me add what I know from my experience.
you can target your npc with <ft> thus healing them, and being able to cast some spells on them. I cannot however seem to cast any spells on them that I would be able to normally do in pt's. such as Haste or Erase or even Regen I or II. Is that all I can do is heal the npc?
http://www.qcdn.org/viewtopic.php?t=15306 I found this link here on QCDN. Offers some good information that I was looking for.
