Thanks to Silfers Post on General Discussion I just copy and pasted here. Thanks [Silfer] for the hard work. I think since this is a guide it would go better here.
Fellowship Quest:
> First speak to the NPC Luto Mewrilah (Artisan Bridge, Upper Jeuno G - Asks you questions in which you get to customise your NPC to a certain extent.
> This part determines your NPC's hairstyle: Speak to Red Ghost - (Port Jeuno by the Bastok/Sandy airship entrance). He will ask you "Was this person's hair tied back?" - Answer no if you don't want that.. he will direct you to Kuah Dakonsa @H8 Lower Jeuno, Kuah asked "Was this person's hair parted at the bangs?" - If you answer no you should be directed to Akta in Ru Lude Gardens for a final choice.
> After this, speak to Bheem in Upper Jeuno by the HP
> Speak to Luto again to complete this inital quest - Should recieve a silver ingot for completing this.
> Zone out of Upper Jeuno, then back in and speak to Luto again
> Talk to Bheem again then head to Eldieme Necropolis - The G-8 entrance of Batallia Downs.
> In here find a ???, click it to spawn a Skelaton NM, kill this with your NPC. I believe this is do-able at Lv.40 ish
> After deeating the NM, speak to the NPC. You may have to click the ??? again.
> Go back and speak to Luto again to finish this part of the quest.
> Zone out and back into Upper Jeuno, speak to Luto once again for the final part of this quest.
> After speaking to Luto head to Port Sandy to speak to the NPC Portaure in Cargo Room B.
> Now gear up for a Lv.40 BC, head to Ghelsba and when ready click the hut door at G-10 to enter. You have to defeat a dragon, which is apparently pretty easy. Your NPC will help when it's at 50% health.
> Finally head back to Luto and speak to her for the Signal Pearl
When you equip the signal pearl you can call your NPC to fight with you. The NPC can be called once every 20 earth hours.. and be warned, clicking on the NPC will dismiss it.
