We tried Fenrir last night, about an hour before Galaika's successful run.

Our setup: 73NIN 73WAR 75BLM 73BRD 73WHM 7_SMN (was anon)

We. Got. Crushed. That son of a bitch does ~500 un-crit hits to melee's. The NIN tried kiting him the second time around, but even with all his eva gear he still had a few problems keeping shadows up. Plus the fact that 3 hits = dead didn't help.

Anyone got tips on how to do this without 6x SMN? My avatar static (74WAR 74WAR 73WHM 74BLM 66PLD 45WHM) is planning to do a Fenrir run in the near future. We're gonna need some heavy advice.

Was the BRD double-Mamboing? I had an almost identical setup and won pretty easily. BRD should try to keep Mambo up until near the 2-hour time, then throw up Carol and not before.

I honestly forget who my BRD was for this, but whomever he was, he was a pro who knew exactly how to pull this off, down to where to stand and when to 2-hour. Was it Darksday? Was it Full Moon? I don't remember him doing anything near 500 damage a hit on anyone, we only had one deaths (me lol >.>;; ) and that was the 2-hour since he Dispelga'd my Stoneskin right before.

Both times I've won Fenrir, I had a great BRD, it seems the key to winning is experience with both the BRD and the tank. Still, 500 damage a pop and a NIN with good eva+ gear being unable to kite seems strange.

The setup that I have seen work is you have a nin/war and another blink tank(nin/war or war/nin in my experience) straight tanking fenrir, they just share hate. We had a bard do double mambo, with a whm(me) curing/erasing when needed. We had a smn and some other job(can be a leech) doing some damage or helping with cures/erase.

When Fenrir was about to do his 2hr, we all ran to fenrir, the bard Soul Voice + Dark Carol, the summoner did earthen ward and we waited for Howling Moon. When that went off, I would do benediction to bring everyone back to full if needed and then we went back to our old positions and killed him. The only chance we had for snags(unless people just messed up) with that setup was with Howling moon.

We did two runs.

First run: Lightsday. Plan was 2x Mambo until 60%, then 2x Carol. Myself & NIN were going to melee it. Unfortunately, NIN got smoked within 10sec of pull due to dispelga followed by 600 crit, 2x 500 reg's. I couldn't solo tank it for very long, so mages escaped while I got stomped.

Second run: late Lightsday (I think it ticked over to Darksday during the fight). 2x Carol, front to back. NIN kited it around the beginning platform while the mages did their work. WHM started DCing almost from the beginning of the fight, though I doubt he would've altered the outcome much. I was standing at a checkpoint to get in an attack round or two while the NIN ran by. BLM took hate unexpectedly, dropped and delevelled. Again, dispelga followed by quick death to NIN. I tanked until the mages got out, then decided to just do the Berserker thing and poked him until I died.

What should he regularly be hitting for? I didn't check the moon phase, but the Vana'diel day was noted.

You MUST have gotten him near full moon. He hits hard and fast, yeah, but not 500-600 per. I noted about a 200ish on our tank, and we also had a PLD/NIN backup that he hit for somewhat less on.

Wasn't it a full moon last night? Not sure if that is why. We didn't have a BRD when we went in we fought him on the platform while one NIN kited with regen on and kept gravity on him at all times (exception the few times it was resisted then threw a slow on) Had 2 BLM's SMN WHM we lost twice then determined to make it work tried a third time and won but barely. Lost the nin after the 2 hour and then had the smn kite it with diablos. Near the end we lost both BLMs I went down after with 1% left thought for sure we were goners and the whm saved the day with a 136 Holy ftw.

Looking at this again:

We went yesterday (Jan 5th) around 7pm. So yeah, it was just a few hours before Full Moon. What phase / % would he be weak during?

The less % the better, he's weakest at new moon. Full moon = full powered Fenrir ;_; Unfortunate luck ;_;

Good enough, I can plan for 0% new moon. Is my avatar static gonna be in trouble with no BRD?

edit: anyone know a good clock that will let me know the phase % as well? Pyogene's only show as above.

Or here. Set the third pane to All days, New Moon, and however many moons you'd like to see. Or, you could get all the lightsdays with a new moon, and catch the wolf at his weakest.

We did it with the odd set up we had with no 2 hours. We had the 2 blms for stun so the nin could recast shadows. It was a bit rough when the 1 blm d/c in the second fight. It was by no means a short fight either :P took us 20 mins or so with no 2 hours amoung us and the blms using tier I and II spells to try and keep hate balanced.

Sweet, those clocks worked perfectly. Thanks guys.

We're re-scheduling for 5% New Moon on Lightsday. Only one stunner, but we do have a hella solid Light chain, 2x WHM's to burst, and... hmm. Would a 66PLD be better than 62DRG? Major's got both as options, not sure what we want him to come as. We won't need either job for SC's, but I'm curious if a 3rd tank would be a better choice over a DD.

Just fyi but there is only 1 dark carol and you can't stack it twice. So brd can't do double carol. He can however do dragon mambo with dark carol when it gets close to 2hour time. I would go with the 66pld for his 2hour and cures. Neither would contribute much dmg.

We did it successfully on a dark day, but less than 50% moon phase. With paralyze, slow, and carnage elegy from brd the nin had little trouble keeping up shadows. I think he got hit all of 3-4 times the whole fight. With just regular dark carol on his 2hour only did about 500 to each person. Party setup was nin, rdm, brd, blm, smn, whm.

Right... one carol. I must have not at all paid attention to what was going on. Which doesn't surprise me.

Has anyone gone without a BRD? I'm so afraid. It's cold...

Yup. 2 hour killed the whm and nin tank, but the war/nin held him long enough for me (BLM) and another BLM, with a little rdm help, to go spammy and drop him as he ran over to pwn us.

we had 3 stuns, 2 BLM and the RDM/drk, and wed pop one on him if shadows dropped, after the 2 hour, and to try and stop triple-attacks.

No 2-hours needed either.

I've killed Fenrir with and without a brd. Double mambo helps a ton, but I don't think dark carol makes too big of a difference. The lower levels in your static are going to die if they are within the huge range of his two hour. Also, you might be able to pull it off with two war/nin tanks, but it's going to be hard. Even with nin as main tank, one of the biggest problems is double attack or aoe dispel dispelling shadows, followed by an Eclipse Bite. It will easily drop your tanks down to 200 or so hp, with no shadows up to block the next attack. Useing some kind of flash order with two whm and a pld might work out, though. Always flash after Eclipse Bite if there's only one person flashing.
