FF: Advent Children

Spirits withing was allright, just not at all related to Final Fantasy. I loved advent children so much, will definetly pick it up when I get the funding.

I've seen the Japanese version many times (so many that I can actually repeat the lines in japanese... how nerdy is that!?). [spoilers follow]

I thought most of the voice-cast was decent. They added a very cool echo effect to Aeris. Kadaj stunk up some places, but he did decently well with others. Tifa was a dream come true. Vincent was just how I expected him, very gruff and overly melodramatic. I've always liked Yuffie and her voice actor. Red XIII's voice was a surprise. It was way older than I thought. However, am I the only one to notice that SE played into some really bad stereotypes in the movie?

Cid sounds like a redneck. Barret sounds like a ghetto-thug gangsta. His last line in the movie just made me roll on the floor. It's near the last scene and everyone is talking at the same time. Just listen to what he says. Ruins the mood. And did anyone else catch Cait Sith's scottish accent? What was that about..

Otherwise, good flick (check my discussion) with some decent voice actors. I'll switch back to the japanese voices for further viewings, though.

Vincent = Auron = Amazing VA

Spirits Within lacked the magic and action of Final Fantasy. It was like Splinter Cell with giant ghost insect thingies. Plus everyone was dead and the cast was only like 10 characters total.

What was wrong with spirits within? I liked that movie.

nothing was wrong with it.. people were just bitching cause it wasn't like FF6/7-esque >.>

I've been good, and have not watched the pirated version or downloaded the JP version.

This is won case where I will say the wait has definitely been worth it. The DVD will be here in a day or two and I will sit down in front of my TV and finally continue a much-beloved story I started nearly nine years ago.

This is going to be _awesome_

And Alyada, the stereotype was supposed to be there. In the game itself Barret was Mr. T, no pun intended, to a T.

Spirits Within has all the characters doin "Thriller" on the second disk...click the box in the lower right hand corner, f'n hi-larious... Any movie w/ Steve Buschemi is golden...and watching the movie w/ some fungus-amongus might change a few opinions :shok:

Spirits still had ties to the games, the whole gaia theory seemed ripped right from ff7, specially cutscene wise...the cinematics and detail were quite spectactular for the time, and still are. If people could have gotten past the fact that it was a movie and not a rpg, it prolly would have been better recieved.

(Sprits was released after FF8, so on our way to the theatre me and my buddy was hopin to see a pink square on the bottom corner when Ifrit was summoned...boost that sh!t) :bb:

Advent was impressive, but after waiting such a long time, after countless release dates pushed back, and my refusal to dwn load it, i was left wanting more.

The victory music cell phone gets the cheese, but it still made me laugh my ass off...and much respect to Square for opening the movie w/ the final scene from FF7...

I havent played w/ all the special features yet, lookin forward to tho.
I'll come back when i'm not sleepy, g'night kats and kittens

It's still amusing that people think FF7: AC is a great movie :P it's not really. It's lacking in several places like.. oh.. plot and character development for the new characters. It's not bad but it is lacking a bit where as Spirits Within atleast had a completel plot and character development.

that part had me and the 7 other people watching it on our projector screen dumbstruck for 10 mins saying/thinking "They did NOT just do that" followed by 10 minutes of laughter. We had to rewind because we missed 20 mins of it.

man that sucks now i never finished the game because the last disc "mysteriously disappeared" (probably freaken brother took it after an argument), so i guess that makes sense why i see that first scene and am not really sure what happened :(. Oh well, i can use the other feature on the disc to piece the game back together w/ CS's. And i bought an original copy of the game off of friend for a case of beer...god I <3 the barter system

lolopinion=/=fact

I think you're taking the movie too seriously. Just watch and enjoy it, don't over-evaluate it or anything or else you'll end up with that attitude of "it's not a great movie" because you're expecting essentially PT. 2 of ff7

granted, but it is a fact it didn't have character development for the new characters NOR any real set plot development. It was basically fight after fight.

FF7AC was originally supposed to be a 10-20mins short.
