A friend told me that a demo of FFXII will come with Dragon Quest VIII. Is this true? I havent heard anything about this. I'm assuming he's full of shit as usual :o

That demo is finally out.
Dragon Quest is also out.
I haven't tried it out, but a friend told me its really impressive both visually and gameplay.

It looks better than X and XI. Music is probably going to be really good considering its for the consoles so they have to put in a good impression for that too. As for the battle system, it plays just like FFXI except you have to control 3 characters. You can summon Espers too btw. The esper summons are controllable like in FFXI. Personally I haven't seen it in action, but this is what I was informed during a gameplay session of a friend.

I plan to try it out today after picking up my copy. ^_^

Time to rent me some Dragon Quest 8

The Final Fantasy XII Demo is cool, especially how it plays like FFXI but offline...however seeing your summon use an attack called Roxxor is not :D and poor Mandragora at the end of the island level. ;)

I don't expect FFXII to have as good music as the others since I don't believe Nobou worked on it. But, we'll just have to see how it is :P I wanna get Dragon Quest VIII though. Still an awesome game

He didnt work on the music!? ahhhh /panic. im a big fan of nobou and i hope whoever *is* working on it can take a page from Nobou's music book and come up with some good stuff... i look forward to the FF music almost as much as the game itself... just cuz im nerdy like that x_x

idk, some of the new music i've seen by SE actually has taste, but yeah, nobuo actually has a reputation ;p

Have it have not tried it. Played about an hour and a half of dragon quest 8, not impressed.

If Kumi Tanioka did the soundtrack, then you fanboys have nothing to fear. She did the Crystal Chronicles soundtrack(Excellent) and some of FFXI's, along with Nobuo Uematsu and Naoshi Mizuta.

while not the main composer, you can bet he'll be consulting on the music.

oooo :P that is a good composer (though I was never a huge fan of FFXI's music after this much hearing it). I will still look forward to FFXII demo to try but it'll be better playing Dragon Quest VIII fully through.

oh.. and I didn't think Nobou was gonna have a say in it at all or something and was gonna go do stuff with The Black Mages and whatnot

Lol pft DQ8 owns FFXII demo, sorry but DQ8 is old school rpg executed perfectly, and rpg of the year. Although FFXII is good it's only a demo and it's not better than DQ8. There's a reason DQ is the highest selling series in JP, and hopefully the 8th did well in NA too with how SE marketed it. And if you only bought DQ8 for the FFXII demo that's kinda funny lol. Anyways I was raised on old NES rpgs, and I love the old school feel of DQ8 done perfectly, but that's just my opinion.

I don't think DQ8 is all that perfect. It's nothing new at all compared to the other DQ were. Atleast.. over all. For a single player RPG it hasn't given anything new gamewise to really wow me. Story and Character it's cool.

Uematsu left SE. Doesn't mean he won't compose for them again, but it's quite likely that he won't be. He said, regarding FF, that he'll be content to watch it happliy from the shadows...as a fan. I think that was the direct translation from his online diary.

Actually, Nobuo does have one piece in the game for sure. How many (if any) beyond that I don't know. His piece is the main theme of the game, he composed it, and wrote the lyrics. Unfortunately I don't remember the singer's name, but if I find the info again, I'll put it up.

I'm angered.. I was on my way home from running around doing errands today and stopped by my local Wal-Mart that is litterally right one the way home.

....They didn't have DQ8, and I went in with the sole intention of buying it ; ; I'm ticked off. But Whatever.. :/ It's a good thing I had also planned to stop at Fire House Subs to get some food (it's next to the Wal-Mart).

Gah, I would have went to Best Buy, after I went to the bank today (BB is across from the bank) had I thought Wal-Mart wouldnt have it ><. But no, i decided to go to Wal-Mart because it would be a little cheaper there. -.-;

t(-.-)t Wal-Mart.

Heh but then again DQ doesn't really need to, its the grandfather of console rpgs and imo has been doing everything right. So why change what's already fine as it is? It's just old school executed perfectly in a 3d cell shaded world.
Edit: ok so back to FF talk: Yea the FFXII music from what the demo has sounds aight, interested to hear what other pieces will be in the actual game, although it's still a year off for NA.

It's funny cause it's true. Dragon Quest is king among RPGs. Enix, before the merger, were not allowed to release any of the games on a weekday. No joke. They're that big, that the country would virtually shut down if people had to go to work/school.
