FF XII demo?

Said it before and I'll say it again, DQ4 is the best console RPG ever. NES FTW!

Nah DQVI ;P wish it'd get localized over here instead of havin to play emulator, o well

Well if DQ really is that good maybe I'll just buy it instead of renting it o.o We'll see

I say, if you're not sure about it, start off with a rental. I'm sure you can get the feel of what the games going to be like after your first day of playing it.

So when the rental period's up, and you find yourself thinking this is a game you could own. Bam, go buy it and hey, that's what memory cards are for. ~.^ Just pick up where you left off and now you dont have to return it or pay late charges. :P

I checked out the FFXII demo today on the Wait Mode half, I was fairly impressed with the visuals I suppose, and it wasn't really all that complicated like I feared it might end up being. It was definately missing some kind of tactical option for the other two characters, but hey, its a demo.. not a complete product just yet. :) I enjoyed it, and ill give the Active Mode half a try next time.

Is DQ8 much like DQ7? Because I lost interest in DQ7 after I had played for like 30 hours and nothing interesting had happened. Not to mention: I wish Akira Toriyama would lose his hands in a hilarious blooper with a rabid bear.

Active mode comes closest to FFXI. No wait time at all.
I would say wait mode is more like Kingdom Hearts where it is kinda of a semi-active setting.

I was impressed by the demo, but..
I'm a little worried about the whole "Mission Complete" thing.
I didn't mind it once in X-2, but I sure hope XII is not a mission based game.
It would be nice to be able to roam freely on the map like mostly all other FF games.

But who knows...it is a demo.
It might be missioned / free-roam based too.
Time will tell.

Another thing that was interesting that I noticed was the boss fights.
If you play the active mode boss...it will not attack you until you engage it.
Sorta reminds me once again of FFXI battle system in a BCNM. You can buff up before battle. In old-school FF games, you'd have to power up yourself during the start of the actual fight.

FFXII funny moment:
Mandys ^_^ (mandragora / t-rex victory fanfare part)

I haven't played DQ yet though.
I know what the game is somewhat like regarding I played the demo of it before the DQ release.

I hope its a really good game though.
I won't be getting to it any time soon until I finish Castlevania: Curse of Darkness, and Digital Devil Saga 2.

Then I have Makai Kingdom to finish too.

Heh yea the game will prolly have some missions. I know some parts it's just a quest where you go kill a certain thing for a bounty or etc. But most of the game will be story based, and the map is more akin to FFXI and DQ8 where you can freeroam from town to town, no overworld map per sei.

I read it is going to be mission based but the story is going to be revealed through the missions, just like how FFXI works. Well, basically FFXII is just like FFXI in everything except offline.

and with the silly rabbity moogles. :(

Active mode would be more like KH, cuz theres no pause when you're selecting stuff in the menu.

I played the demo. Good stuff. I love the battle system, and the esper(summon) thing is cool too. Cant wait for the game. Gonna start playing DQ8 soon

Heh slow ass, get on DQ8! :P Been playin it ever since the release lol and not even close to beating it >>

I've been busy beating Grandia which I finally found someone to let me borrow ;o

just picked up DQ8 last night . . . and since today is an early work day I just took a quick run over the FFXII Demo and I have to say . . . meh.

It's not really doing it for me

Heh well it's only a 15-20min demo, 2 quick romps thru 2 areas, not really gonna determine the 60+ hr game I'd say, but I enjoyed the demo anyways heh. Anyways Ty which grandia? Heh waitin on Grandia 3 if they decide to localize it here. Also Rogue Galaxy and KH2 which both release in Dec in JP :O

Just played the demo and I would describe the game play as, PSO+ff11=ff12 (It feels like an offline version of ff11). The combat is similar to ffX but with free movement.

IMO the first Grandia is the best one, I dunno but the others just didn't do it for me. I love the way your magic and abilities expand in Grandia wish more games had that kind of system.
