So... im lvl 57 right now.
I was planning to raise a chocobo and run in the gold saucer, like everyone recomended me to in the previous topic i made about Clouds Omislash guide manual.

I was working on this, but it seems this takes too much time, (Yea i know playing FFXI and saying it takes too much time is kind of hypocritical :P).

Anyways i was reading through some FAQs on Gamfaq.com, and this guy pointed out if you defeat the EMERALD weapon that swims on ocean floors of the game. *Must have Subarmine unlocked* you win a Rope which you can exchange for a GOLD CHOCOBO. Now this guy didnt leave any kind of strat, but he did mention this could be done at lvl 30. So i was wondering if anyone had a stratdegy maybe i can use in my attempt to defeat this guy.

I've never heard of Emerald or Ruby being beat at level 30 o.O. They're nasty strong and take a lot of strategy to defeat. I tried quite a few times and never beat them (of course I had no strategy whatsoever besides go all out with spells, limit breaks and summon spells), and I was level 70ish when I tried.

Ruby is a joke if you have atleast one ribbon.

Just deck the fuck out of one character, and keep going in to the battle until Ruby singles out that one person. Then proceed to beat his face in. Most of his damage comes from Bio damage, and his underground talons suck out your MP. So it's good to have MP absorb on something, because you'll be losing it pretty fast. Make sure your other two characters are pretty beefed up too, as they can still lay a good hurting before Ruby Quicksands them. But concentrate all your useful materia on one person, and make sure they have a ribbon.

Emerald is trickier, but easy as well.

If you're uncertain about your ability to slam him down in the alloted 20 minutes, get the Underwater Materia. It's only purpose is for this fight. It removes the timer. It has other applicable uses. But this is why it's in the game. Other uses include building infinite AP, since it never masters, and either selling it for big gil, or giving it to Barret to make Missing Score godly.

He has a couple painful attacks. He'll swim up a bit, and then slam down on your party for moderately damage. Pretty easy to recover from if no one died. His worst ability by far, on his shoulder, there are 4 orbs. 2 yellow, 2 blue. After a few turns, lasers fire from these and just devistate anything in their path(Around 6000 to each character, and removes buffs.) and occasionally, they'll all shoot on one character. The single attack is pretty much instant death unless the character has near maximum HP and is pretty much filled. Also, he has an attack that does damage based on how much materia a character has equipped. The more materia, the more damage. You can wipe out the orbs, but be warned, they do regenerate.

Mime, atleast 1 of them, is a godsend in this fight. One strategy is to load up on HP Plus Materia and Counter Materia. When he does his stomp attack/party laser attack, this will rake up damage. Pheonix is really useful, pair it with Final Attack, since you're more than likely going to need it.

The first time I beat him, I didn't have underwater on, and I won with 20 seconds on the clock... I was so freaked out because during the victory scene, it kept counting down. Screen went to black with 5 seconds left. Unsure if you can actually lose once you get the victory scene going, but just to be sure, if you are fighting without underwater, you actually have about 19:45 to win.

I didn't try them until after I had beaten the game, and I finished it with Cloud as my highest, at 65. Everyone else ranged 50-60. My usual team was Cloud, Vincent, and Cid.

Well, I only know one strategy for Ruby...If you go in with one character alive and the other 2 dead, at least, for that inital quicksand (can't remember if he eventually does it again if they're in the fight or not) nothing will happen, since he can't suck down dead characters. So wait for him to use that, and then raise, and have them hit with all they got.

Oh, wow. I didn't know that. There ya go, Davio. Haha. Still, he's pretty easy with a singled out, beefed up character. Just gotta play the roullette until that character is the one he doesn't eliminate.

Don't raise or you will die. Just leave them dead and do this battle with cloud.
Especially if you don't have KoR, or at the very least (Quadra Magic)=(Bahamut Zero). Omnislash only does about 10000 damage to it if you are using ultima weapon and your HP is 9999/9999 at lvl 99. Hades makes his tentacles useless. The are weak to every status effect.

Don't use Final Attack Phoenix, use Final attack Revive.

I don't know where skaw gets this "Emerald weapon easy" shit...
Air Tam Storm always does 9999 to every character. If you don't have Final Attack and Phoenix, yer gonna lose. He kills me sometimes, and I have actually bothered to take all stats to 255 on cloud Berret and Cid.

it resets around 17,000,000 ap...
don't ask.

Air Tam is based on the amount of materia you have on the character. 1111 for every materia. Im pretty sure thats it, havnt done it in so long. I beat him using Cloud+ KOTR thing with only like 5 materias on Cloud so that it did 5555 dmg to him. I didnt even have Final Attack...I could never find that piece of shit, Im almost convinced my game has a glitch where Final Attack chest disappeared >_>

Don't worry i won't...Btw did you every consider you might have too much free time on your hands? :P

I failed miserably in my attempts to kill Ruby, so i said fuck it and pwned Sephiroth XD.

Seriously though, everything was going smooth... i went in with 2 chars dead and waited for his quicksand thing, then phoenixed. But hes so freaking cheap lol. He turned all my guys into frogs and owned me

My strat for killing Ruby was kinda cheap...

for starters my party was Cloud/Yuffie/Cid

Must have Items -can be used with any party set up

*potion*

Yuffie - Gave her the materia summon phonix linked with final attack

Cloud- Hades summon

Made sure both cid and cloud were dead at the start of the fight. The reason for this is because Ruby will knock out all but 1 of your party members. If members are dead at the start, no one will be knocked out even after revivial.

Made it so Yuffie had 7577 hp at the beginning of the fight.

First turn gave her a potion for 200 hp to make her hp = 7777

Lucky 7's :3 -ffvii pwnage

Yuffie will attack Ruby non-stop for at least half a million damage or more knocking the weapon to half health.

After this, Yuffie will be killed. She will then cast final attack + pheonix and raise every member of the party to full hp and mp.

Have Cloud cast Hades... Hades messes this guy up like crazy. It poisons him, blinds him and paralyzes him. Ruby maybe hit me a total of 3 times after rivial before I killed him.

 Good Luck

You need ribbons. :p

Morph Master Tonberries until you get 3 total.

You should already have one or two though.

There is no chest.

After you get Omnislash and W-Summon from the Battle arena, you can do "Special Battle" Only cloud can enter. It's a "fight these bunch of bosses all in a row" type thing.

It ends with proud clod, and you get tons of BP if you get a hard set of reels.

After winning the special battle, the girl at the counter gives you Final Attack Materia, free of charge.

Ah, you want a way to win?

To beat Emerald weapon:

1. Have access to the last area. Fight the pots there for massive AP to give birth to new materia.

2. Aquire the Final Attack, W-Summon, Magic-Counter, Full-Cure, KOTR, Phoienix, and Mime materials.

3. Obtain the underwater Materia. It's somewhere in that small town outside of midgar I think.

4. Do Final attack-Phoienx. MAgic-Counter-Full-cure, KOTR-W-Summon, and Mime on could.

5. Bring tons of megaelixers. (IF you wanna be cheap do the w-item glitch.)

6. Go into the last dungeon and master 3 mime materia. (This takes a very long time. Weeks.)

7. Go to emerald, and enter with cloud going KOTR-w-summon.

8. Have your other member mimic.

9. Have cloud mimic.

10. Use megaelixers whenever, but you have to recast with cloud if you do.

Ruby weapon:

Go into a random battle in this grass.

Kill off both your PT members.

Go in with W-summon, MAgic-counter-Full-cure, KOTR, Hades, Final attack revive and mimic.

Ruby weapon will mess you up bad and you will loose if you use KOTR by its self, how ever hades causes stop to him.^^

1. Enter the battle.

2. Cast hades, then cast KOTR.

3. Mimic

4. Use elixer or megaexlier whenever needed.

I can also make you a guide how to breed your own gold chocobos if you want. Just PM me if you have any questions.

To Clarify a couple of things...

Underwater Materia is obtained by Morphing a Ghost Ship. It gives you an item that the Kalm Travler is asking for. Trade the Item to him, and he gives you underwater Materia. The Ghostship appears on 1 screen, right before you enter the Underwater Reactor in Junon.

I used the Spell Fullcure 1 time to see what it looked like. Useless in my opinion.

Elixers can be obtained easily from Gighee, Golem, Iron Man, or Master Tonberry, by stealing. You can also get them from Tonberry, Vlakorados, or Harpy by morphing. Stealing is easier.

Megalixers are a bit harder to come by. Master Tonberry is the only place to get an unlimited supply of these. He drops them. Sometimes.

In reference to Ruby Weapon, cast KoR all you want, just make sure you have a Mystile on. He will cast Ultima on you, and it will miss.

Happy hunting.

most fun way to start the emerald weapon fight is to make sure everyone in the party has 7777 hp XD it's sooo funny.
