I finally broke down and purchased FF Chronicles (FFIV and Chrono Trigger PS1 style). IV has my favorite chracters of Kain and Cecil and even have Yang Fang, Porom and Palum. It was an impulse purchase but I was just walking around Fry's and after noticing Shadow of the Colossus was on sale for $15 (finally picked it up) I gazed over and saw this sitting in there miniscule pile of PS1 games. Good times.

:D

Wow, that's so great luck right there, SoTC for 15 dollars, you can't beat that. Congrats on getting the PS1 version of FFIV, now you can see the stuff we missed, like extra abilities, extra items, and tougher gameplay. Chrono Trigger was great also, but those load times before each fight really dragged it down compared to the SNES version.

Well yeah I played the dumbed down version known as FFII all those years ago and I still loved it. I am sure FFIV will be as good if not better. It will be weird seeing FMV cutsceens though.

As for SotC I knew that it would eventually become a Greatest Hit or at least go on sale. I just had to be patient. I figure each boss fight will have a pattern that needs to be discovered in order to beat it and once it is discovered the replay value would be close to nil. So I didn't want to pay full price.

they changed all the names of items and equipment in the PS1 version and the only cut scene added is at the opening scene. See if u can beat it under 17 hours... adaman armor impossible to gauge, but u need a pink tail to get it.
fun thing is to solo palum to where he gets quake <.<

The animated cutscenes ultimately make up for the battle load times in PS Chrono Trigger.

Especially the one where Frog cleaves the mountain.

ChronoTrigger = my favorite game ever.

I am re-playing FFIV at the moment, hit the sealed cave earlier and called it a day because I had spent a while infront of the TV, compulsive gaming.

I've played FFIV for GBA and PS1 I think IV might be a new favorite. Great story line and intriguing to play each time. Although I liked the FFIV on GBA better.

Unfortunantly for FFIV Advance, Edward is still incredibly weak.

Fortunantly for FFIV Advance, Edward is still glitchy with Berserk.

I liked the default final team...it was what i would've chosen anyways.

Cecil, Rosa, Kain, Edge, Rydia 4tw ;D

Yeah, but if you want to do all the bonus dungeons, you have to beat Zeromus with every character.

Well, almost every character, I found out after beating him with Palom and Porom in my party, that they get one dungeon between them. Since it said I unlocked the Mage Twins trial, rather than seperate trials for each of them.

So you have to beat him twice, Cecil, Rosa, Kain, Edge, Rydia. Then Cecil(since he can't be removed,) Palom/Porom, Cid, Edward, and Yang. Preferrably doing it with Porom, because you need White Magic to combat Big Bang, or you'll be fighting a very long fight using potions to keep your HP up. But then again, without Flare, Zeromus doesn't go down as fast.

Granted, you can do any combo to defeat them, but as long as you use only one of the twins instead of both, two times is the most you have to defeat him to unlock all of the trials.

But, like I said... I found this out AFTER I had beat him with both of them, so I had to beat Zeromus three times to get Edward's trial unlocked.

I booted Edges ass out and put it in either Yang or Cid, sorry Edge, I just think you're the weakest character of the default pt, and I'm glad I finally have the option to use someone other than you.
But yea, FFIV is good, specially the advance one imo, and I am so damn stoked for V and VI advance.

Seriously, I have no idea whats wrong with Edge in any version of the game. He can wear Genji armor, but still takes damage like Rydia in the front line. And his ultimate weapons blow compared to Ragnarok and whatever Kain's spear was... Holy Lance?

His saving grace is the fact that his personal 3 hit Blink costs so little MP, and his attack speed is pretty high.

But Blink doesn't help against big moves like Globe99, Mega Flare, or Big Bang. So ultimately, he blows against bosses. Rocks against Behemoths though, Edge is fucking invincible against Behemoths. Could solo them if the other party members are KO'd. But then again, so can Yang since his Double power attack is uncounterable.

I wish I had FFIV Advance. The PS1 versions fine but I really would've liked to see all this new stuff I'm hearing of.
Also...

Wait...is this the new version? Because I only have the psx version

Yeah, he's refering to the GBA version that was released awhile ago.

Oh, well I was just talking about the psx version when I said I liked the default party at the end. Don't have any other choice in that one ;/

I dunno if it was just my copy, but the PSX FFIV was glitchy as hell. :/ Not only were the load times ridiculous, but randomly the graphics would glitch a bit, and music would get stuck, or just stop completely.

I with Tyrath though, the default setup at the end is what I would have chosen too. Well... maybe I would've swapped out Rosa for Palom or Porom. I <3 Rydia though... she and Terra are my favorite FF females of all time. ^^
